Didn't get my reference? Then you haven't played the best game in the history of the universe biggrin.gif

Nonsense, I’ve played Super Castlevania IV at least 10,000 times.

I can't wait till turkey day gets here! I don't know what's the shelf life of squash is but the sooner I can cook it the better!

In airsoft news:

I'm not going to go all hog-wild next payday on buying airsoft accessories but I am getting a muzzle extension, green gas and additional mags for the Kriss Vector. Then at the end of December I'm buying the M132 Classic Army minigun or the Echo-1 Minigun.

I started wearing my heels again for the first time in ages. I was really out of practice, so it was difficult at first. So I started wearing my favorite pair of 5" stilletos every day to go out and get the mail. I live in an apartment complex, so it is a bit of a walk out of my building to where the mailboxes are. That really did the trick, and got me used to it again.

However, it wore down the tips on my heels! I had to take them to a shoe repair shop to get them fixed. I picked them up a little while ago. I was so pleased that I changed into them at the shop, and stopped to go grocery shopping in them on the way home. That was not great. Not because of the heels, but the floor was waxed and really smooth, so I had to be careful walking there. The concrete parking lot was actually a lot easier to walk on.

Oof, I bet that was scary walking on in heels! I get nervous walking on freshly waxed floors in flat shoes! laugh.gif

It just takes practice is all. You learn which surfaces are easy to walk on, and which are more difficult. Tile or cobblestones are the worst, because your heels will randomly step in the little mortared spaces between the squares, and that will send your whole balance off. Carpet is the friendliest.

That’s the way I feel about Super Castlevania IV. Obviously it’s not as technically advanced as newer games, and there isn’t a whole lot of variety in its gameplay, but for me, everything about it just “clicked”. The soundtrack is probably my favorite part, followed closely by the environments and enemy designs. Plus, it’s the only game in the series that features 8-way whip mechanics! Such a revolutionary feature for the Castlevania series, and they only used it in one game! They ditched it in the subsequent games that featured the whip as the protagonist’s main weapon, and as a result, I feel that those games are a regression.
mirocu
I agree with our feline member here, having not even played the game only watched it. It does look great and yeah; giving the player the 8-direction whip only to go back to the NES ways in the next games is nothing short of regression.

As Denton would say biggrin.gif .... biggrin.gif ......

You should play it some time! If you like the first Castlevania on NES, IV is basically a 16bit remake of that game.
mirocu
I did play the original Castlevania on the NES but never got far. The NES Difficulty™ was again too much for me. Was kinda fun though and I very much think I'd like the SNES game, not least because it seems like it presents an actual fair challenge.

Super Castlevania IV is really accessible, I feel. It still has the “knockback” that the NES ones are infamous for, but it doesn’t seem as ridiculous as in the older games.
mirocu
That knockback b-s is one of the biggest gripes I've ever had with games, hands down. Ok if the character gets hurt by touching an enemey but don't send him flying back to Alabama!

Lol, right?
mirocu
River City Ransom/Street Gangs is a favourite NES game for me. Fun gameplay, good/fair challenge and you can even level up the character to hit and kick stronger as well as be more resilient. 10/10! biggrin.gif

Edit: I keep looking at this 2013 Audi A4 Quattro. Just window shopping and I'm not planning to get it as it has stuff I don't like like start/stop, FSI engine (which is prone to suddenly crashing) and automatic transmission. I just signed my life away a couple of months ago, by getting a new Audi A3. Not sure how I got talked into upgrading, when I actually had zero intention of doing so, but I gotta admit, it is a beautiful car. (Not a Quattro though, that price would have given me palpitations)
mirocu
That's cool! I have owned a brand new bike but never a brand new car. Mind to share a pic of your A3?

I've had two Quattros and I'll never go back to 2WD as the 4WD has proved to be essential, especially since I had to drive to work in winter and they never plow my side of the road in time, having me do the plowing with the car tongue.gif

Much as we complain about the weather and roads over here in the UK, I think we forget that our idea of bad weather other countries would look at as mild lol.

I would like to take a minute to complain about disturbing trends in modern automobile design. Push to start. Remote start. Lane assist. Automatic breaking. Extensive reliance on computers to run almost every aspect of the machine. I find these to be wholly unnecessary and the reason for them isn’t some insincere concern over safety, it’s because it drives up the cost of vehicles while also making it nigh impossible to work on them yourself. Frankly, if I need a new car in the future, I’m highly considering going to one of those car auctions and bidding on a much older car that has been redone.

The big one for me has been the move away from controls you can use without taking your eyes off the road. I will not buy a car that uses a touch screen.

And I did just buy an old car for those reasons, plus it was cheaper than a rental for the period I needed.
mirocu
Agreeing with both of you. It would maybe be one thing if all those gizmos were built reliably and were most unlikely to cause any issues. But still; lane assist, brake assist, touch screens, start/stop system - PASS!
