Sure!
Iīm talking about a well-known British police series called Midsomer Murders set in modern times and centered around Midsomer county with HQ location in Causton. Its main character is Chief Super Intendent Tom Barnaby who has a wife and a daughter and who constantly struggles with the humor and dodgy morals of his helper, Sergeant Gavin Troy. At least it was Troy in the early days. Tom has had at least two other ones after Troy but is now himself replaced with a relative of his.
Vague enough for ya?

Oh, Midsomer Murders. Heard of it, but never watched it.
Doesn't it have a murder rate that should have depopulated the whole area by now?

You are thinking of the influx of (way too young and angry) Official "forum-ites" filling up Chorrol with their trolling and flaming like unhousebroken pit bull dogs?
And ... what haven't I heard, is the Official site no longer going to be a forum where fans can go express their devotion to Bethesda in creative Fics; Art; and RP's (or just decades long discussions on the game; our characters; or the Lore)?
No, but Bethesda's new forum is such a damn trainwreck, such an ugly, broken mess, that I don't know that it's actually better than having nothing

And it probably won't be. Apparently the membership at the new forum has gone straight to Hel, there's a lengthy thread on the old forums about how broken the new one is, but nothing's being done about it. And the sections they've moved over there are basically dead, so it looks like the old forumites aren't following their sections over.
Considering their apparent lack of concern over the user-friendliness and simple functionality of the new forums, it's doubtful that they'll make any effort to keep those sections alive, if they even bother moving them over.
It is March 2010 all over again. That is when 15 of us in a group left the official forums and came here - and for the same reason. The Fic forum changed from being the best to being almost unusable. (and at the time, unreadable too, because it started off glossy black with bright white print - sent me running to the eye doctor) .
Well, it is just like Myspace - these people need to learn that if something isn't broke, you shouldn't keep fixing it. But I think Bethesda wants to shake off their old fans and make room for a new generation of fans before they bring out their next offering in the TES series.

The entire forum will eventually be archived in a read-only state.
This was exactly my first thought when I saw the new forum; that what you said is exactly what they were going for. I believe you are right.
So then it just becomes propaganda rather than interactive; and they don't have to hear us complain if their game ships broken,

Urk. Our era is dying out, I believe.
