I say go for it too. The next Fallout game is probably 7 or 8 years away. Even if they do go with the same location you have in mind, so what? My Teresa and Aela fics are set in the TES world, but bear little resemblance to Bethesda's setting. I changed the world dramatically to suit my writing.
Definitely write your story the way you see it. We know Bethesda will happily violate their own "lore". Besides, in YOUR Fallout universe, it will be correct because you said it is.
After considering it, Khajiit believes it would be better served being in its own universe.

Yeah the armor Khajiit was talking about riding around in was the Oblivion armor. Although this one doesn't mind the more "Romanesque" look of the other two games. Actually, Khajiit thinks ESO does "Imperial" armor fairly well. It has some of the "Romanesque" elements of Morrowind and Skyrim, but keeps the more medieval feel of the armor in Oblivion.

I've always liked Oblivion's Legion armour for being so much less flashy than most of the other armours.
Come to think of it, my current Oblivion character might end up on horseback. For once I'm playing a Breton without birthsign/specialisation to improve his speed, so he is slow in his heavy armour.
I took this picture 3 years ago and what surprises me is I'm still playing it today like I just bought it the other day and yet I played WoW for two weeks and never returned to it ever again. That says something about this game and its staying power
