Compare the wage of the average nurse or teacher to that of the average premiership footballer. Or to the bonuses the bankers are giving themselves.

So why not start posting again?

I don't know, I just don't feel as comfortable posting over there anymore. I spend more time in the community discussion section than Oblivion these days.

But mostly what I miss is that writing there was so much simpler. Well, maybe simpler isn't the right word, but it was different. It seemed easier, less hassle, than trying to do a fanfic over here.

But I'm not keen on the idea of dropping the attempt at writing a fanfic, one that doesn't fail because of my mistakes. And I don't think writing both would go too well.

I think I'd have a problem writing in two differnt styles.

I have enough trouble trying to write a fanfic. If I'm writing the same events with two different styles and focuses, I can see it going real wrong, real fast.

@Impy: If it's that simple, why do you think it hasn't happened? Because the people making those decisions want it that way. Because money is the most effective way of keeping the masses in line.

It was featured on both NPR and BBC. They explain that each time you click on the page they get paid by the advertisers (like google adsense) which consequently is used towards buying rice. i.e they get paid 1 cent per click and 1 cent buys two cups of rice. Plus they explained that increased vocabulary helps to mobilize the mind, as compared to clicking from playing bejeweled or something like that. Therefore, double positive

So is the idea that the world will function without currency. There are always going to be rich people and poor people. That is the way that the entire world has functioned since before recorded history. Even before modern currency a value was assigned to things (two cows equals ten chickens and so on) because there has to be some basis for trade. The idea that everyone can or will be equal is the very pinnacle of naivety because humans hunger for material things.

What you're wanting has been tried before and it is called communism. It has never and will never work because of the basic human instinct to acquire things that they want. It all sounds great on paper, complete and total equality, but in reality there will always be a guy/girl at the top of the pyramid looking down.

I said an economic revolution, not scrapping the idea of currency. I've absolutely no idea where you got that idea from.

As things stand, change in the distribution of wealth is impossible, because the wealthy are too invested in maintaining that wealth, and the economy reflects that. This in turn shapes the jobs market, creating an effective barrier protecting that inequality.

Any attempt to change that on a national scale would simply be crushed by the global economy, so any change needs to be implemented globally in order to be effective. So any change would have to be on such a scale that it is in essence a revolution.

Generally because it's done by closet capitalists.

And capitalism has done far more to create inequality than communism.

Capitalism will never create a fair or equal society simply because it isn't in its interests to do so.

Change is necessary.

And when you've got people with billions of pounds, more money than anyone will ever need or be able to actually use, money they're hoarding solely for the sake of hoarding, while others are starving to death due to poverty, do you honestly believe that redistribution of wealth isn't in order?

I'm not saying we need to go communist, but the excesses of capitalism cannot be allowed to continue to go unchecked.

The one thing I know about politics is that everyone should have free healthcare and education.

A man in America stuck up a bank for a dollar, waited for the cops to come, got arrested just so he could get healthcare in jail.

The thing is that then you risk alienating people who might otherwise work hard and strive for advancement. Why bother creating a business if you won't be allowed to make any money doing so? What is the motivation? It is a great idea, the idea of equality...but that is all it will ever be.

The solution to the human governance dilemma, is instituting a beneficent AI construct to take over higher governmental functions, but allowing humans to continue in the cultural adaptations they've adopted.

Culture being the immaterial overseer that influences and controls humans behavior: Short version: Vegetarian Inuits (Eskimos) would not survive in their environment very long.

This will open the way for open trade, open borders, and eventually a unified administrative body of the Earth and Humans, opening the way for a panglobal effort to explore and colonize space, ensuring long term species survival.

This path is the most likely for a 'fair' future, long have humans constructed machines to adapt for their limitations and shortcomings. Man is not fit to govern himself, yet has the capability to create something that can.
