I just oiled it up today. I liked it without the oil but I think it needs it. It tends to swell up from the moist in the air otherwise. Not much, but it´s noticable when you hold it; it looses its smoothness.

Not EVERY time. But he usually goes right to the counter.
When he doesn't, watch him. If he looks like he's watching to see what you're doing, go "sweep" near him and make an effort to be by him. If he's taking stuff, he might get antsy and tell you to go away or just leave.
