I personally think it should take place in Elswyr or Black marsh. They should also return a few schools of magic and skill sets that they took away and add more PLAYABLE races.

Black Marsh, because I'm a big fan of Argonians and want to see more of them
As for changes they should make...
Bring back attributes, combined with an intelligent perk system, not filler and percentage increases. I'd like to see a cross between Oblivion's and Fallout perk systems, perks you select when levelling and perks tied to skill levels, though with the choice Oblivion failed to offer.
Bring back mysticism, all the removed spell effects since Oblivion at least, though Morrowind would be preferable, and bring back spellmaking.
Morrowind style separation of weapons, medium armour, spears, throwing weapons, and greater variety of weapons all need to make a return.
On use enchantments should be brought back, to give non-stealthy characters the ability to open doors and chests that are locked.
A proper journal and the removal of quest markers.
And a main quest that doesn't have the "chosen one" vibe to it.
Unfortunately, I sincerely doubt we'll see any of that in a TES game

I doubt they will.
Regardless of opinions about Skyrim, complex mechanics were removed, simplifying the creation process if nothing else. They spent less making Skyrim than they would've if they'd tried to add all of those things, and got a far better return on investment in the process, by broadening their target audience.
This is, in my opinion, what is going to cause the collapse of the gaming industry. Disregarding the niches in a blind rush to a swamped, generic, middle ground where nothing truly stands out anymore. Pursuing sales figures rather than aiming to deliver quality products.
And the new consoles will only hasten the process, being built to a far higher specification and therefore far more expensive to make games for, and for what? An extra tenner at the point of sale? That's not gonna offset the costs involved, and the consoles haven't sold in sufficient quantity to make the difference anyway.

In my opinion the new Elder Scrolls game should take place somewhere exotic. I'd wager Valenwood or the Summerset Isles. Truthfully, I'd much prefer we visit Elsweyr or Hammerfell. You know the drier desert areas of Tamriel. Since Morrowind, I've always played with Imperials. But if the location changes to either Valenwood or Hammerfell or Elsweyr, I'm definitely rolling khajiit this time.
If Bethesda does make an ES: VI, I have a creeping feeling it will be in another familiar setting like High Rock.
Thorn, I agree with you on just about everything there. Especially with the weapon variety and the main quest issue. It strikes me as odd that since Morrowind, all they've been doing is removing things when in fact they should be adding. Morrowind was fantastic for so many reasons, one because of the number of weapons to choose from; spear, sword, axe, tanto, wakashi, katana, daggers, throwing stars, bows and arrows and crossbows, etc. I was dying to use a spear in Skyrim but alas.
The main quest is another thing that needs to be approached differently. Not everyone wants to be a prophesied hero to save the world. My characters aren't the Champions of Cyrodiil, or the Nereverine or Dragonborn. When I play, they're normal individuals and in some cases not so normal, but they aren't foretold heroes. I do think the next ES should enhance the feel of "Live another life, in another world."
Go in depth in the fighting, the classes, the professions, etc.
They've also lost depth with quests, and depth with NPC's. Like what the hell.
I don't know what they're thinking over at Bethesda but they need to step up their game lol. I'll always be an ES and FO fan, but I'm REALLY hoping they being back that old "elder scrolls" feeling.

If they do change, it won't be the next game.
The next game will be a commercial success simply because it's the sequel to Skyrim. In the same way that DA2 sold well because it was the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins.
It would only be if the game after that sells poorly that they might stop to think, and then they're as likely to pull the plug on the series as anything else

Regrettably, I now have placed Bethesda in the same category as Bioware/EA
Not only are they heading in a direction I don't like and have no interest in, but frankly I'm pissed at them for their screwups.
Bioware/EA: First there was ME2, which was alright, but had nothing on Mass Effect. Then there was the abomination that was DA2, and then there was ME3's ending. The worst part of those last two were not the games, but Bioware's reaction to those who spoke out about them on their forums. Hell, so many people complained about DA2 that when they brought out ME3 you couldn't post in the section of their forums for it unless you owned the game! People pissed at DA2 were told the didn't get the game, and for ME3 EA's PR department had to step in to defend Bioware's "Artistic Vision". And flipping the bird at those who thought the choices sucked in the extended ending was frankly disgraceful.
Bethesda: First there was Fallout New Vegas. Yes, yes, it wasn't developed by them. But that game was so buggy it should never have been published. Their patches made it progressively less stable, and then they just stopped work on it, the announcement of that fact a single post buried in the forum for it. Then there was Skyrim, and I don't think I need to speak on that particular topic
I'll not buy any game from either of them new. I'll not give them a penny.

I'll stick around Bethesda's forums, if only for the Oblivion section, but I've no interest in the games the make anymore. That's more than Bioware. I used to be a member on their forums, haven't been over there since the ME3 ending debacle.

Someone should create a forum dedicated to profanity lol. Like. You HAVE to swear in every post and talk about swearing but things wouldn't go well
I agree that the direction game companies have taken might as well be the end this time around. If no one takes any chances, if nothing stands out, then people (both casual and hardcore gamers) will be fed up and quit buying new titles despite their flashiness. They�ll know there�s nothing new and exciting underneath that glossy surface and will stick with the games they have. The games that got them hooked, the games that brought something new and exciting...

Most likely, the instant I read that mALX was back, I was shocked beyond all reason...For reasons that I'm pretty sure I've made obvious by now...
I tried to manage behind suspicion and somewhat manic though possibly autopilot humour, but I wasn't really here...I think...
That rant earlier in the week should have made me stay away...But no, I kept coming back...Damn you kind people who actually enjoy my company...
And there, all the time, churning in the back of my mind was...Bad Robert...Whispering the usual paranoid crap that it usually does...Bringing back the clich�d old arguments and whatever...
This morning I woke up...Wrong...It's a feeling...A physical feeling like you're not in control at all...It's like there's two people and the other one's in control...No, I'm not schizophrenic...It is literally like it's you, but absolutely not you...
And I couldn't help myself...I genuinely couldn't help myself...
And while I completely admit this looks like an excuse after the fact...I've told enough of you about this often enough...I warned a couple of you about it earlier in the week...
I really really didn't realise how bad I'd gotten, until Darkness Eternal's reply...
And I was absolutely shocked about my behaviour...
Therefore, I will take this opportunity to offer and complete, honest and genuinely heartfelt apology to Darkness Eternal for this and any other slight I have done to him down the years...
I know that we are unlikely to ever be the best of friends...But yes, we're more like a family here...And brothers fight...According to mALX, we do actually have an awful lot in common, if I'd actually tried to find that out...
Oh...And trust me, I like DE more than I like my actual RL brother...At least Darkness Eternal is talented...

Only had to do one thing before I could take off which was to clean the battery poles a bit, especially the minus one. Other than that it was fine, even the tyre pressures were good
