Of course it's quiet around here, this place used to be 'Cheers' where everyone knows your name, now it's constantly being on edge hoping you don't offend the wrong person, or violate the sacred-written-in-stone Terms of Service.
Or it's just summer.
Could just be summer.
Probably summer.

An interesting response from you.
Were it within my nature to mimic, I would make some comment about being a teen and told the stereotypical traits of my age, or perhaps some dramatic vow where I would wait one year to the day to return under a pseudonym and reveal my true identity then.
Yes. I do remember.
I recall many times when you spouted an unpopular opinion, and I stood up for you.
I remember everything. I remember telling people here that this was how we learned where the line was: by crossing it from time to time.
Do I expect something in return from you now for my acts? I in fact do not: I am no merchant of beneficence. I do not barter and trade loyalty and bravery. This expectation is for the unworldly, those who've not yet looked up from the fairy tale and seen the world as it truly is.
What I am, is incredibly disappointed. I saw something of a good heart and a great man in you, and you begin to betray it whether or not you realize it.
Don't let this place destroy it.

Welcome back, Vital! As a lover of summer I would like to bask in the northern hemisphere summer, then flit off to Perth for a few months at Christmas to enjoy summer down there. Mrs Acadian is from Perth and almost half my family is there. Alas, it is a killer of a long trip and hard on both the wallet and old bones.

So I just saw this weird shirtless dude chase some other dude with a big knife in his hands. They apparently were arguing over a shirt or a game in the World Cup. To make a long story short, the guy without the knife got a big rock and threw it at the other guy's back as he tried to duck. He fell, and the guy threw another rock.
Then they disappeared into the street-corner . . . I was like "Well. Um. Okay."
I see symptoms of a cold coming in. I must fight it off!

That may be true, but I see soccer games shut off again and again and again because of heavy riots between the teamīs fans and itīs not always safe for families with kids to attend them anymore. Plus, there was constantly conflicts at work because they would argue that their team was superior to another guyīs team and I was so fed up with it after awhile I almost wanted to scream.
Label me if you want, but I too have my opinions. But thereīs no reason
you canīt enjoy sports

It's very rare in most countries, it never happens in English Premier League games anymore. Yes it happens occasionally in Italy when Lazio/Roma play but you have to remember, most rivalries like that one have nothing to do with the sport.
Lazio/Roma = Neo-Nazism
Celtic/Rangers = Religious conflict
Except in lower league Polish games, they take it too seriously.
I'm just saying if people legit argue(not in a joking/debate way) that's taking it too far, sadly a lot of stupid people who take things too seriously watch football but plenty of normal intelligent people do too.

So very true

In Sweden thereīs lots of fighting around the matches but of course itīs the minority, though it still affects those with kids who just wanna see the game.
Maybe thereīs a reason I have always disliked competitions, it always brings out the worst in people...

What's so bad about steam???
- console gamer
SubRosa
Jun 20 2014, 01:47 PM
I wasn't thrilled about Steam at first either, just on moral and ethical grounds if nothing else. But I have noticed that whatever game you buy these days requires you to be online and log into their company's servers for authentication. If not Steam, then it's EA with a Bioware game or Kingdoms of Amalur, etc... Or how Diablo 3 requires you to be logged in even though it is expressly a single player game.
Gog.com is the only place I know of where get a DRM free game these days. And except for a few games like Witcher 3, it is all really old games whose source codes have already been released to the public. I love Gog, but I have never bought a game from them that was less than a decade old.
Speaking of which, Gog has been having the old D&D games on sale lately. The Neverwinter Nights games, the Baldur's Gates, Icewind Dales, etc... I remember paying something like $20 for Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition a few years ago, and now they have it for like $2. I have been seriously considering getting the Icewind Dale games from them.
OTOH, Steam has these nice sales, and buying online is how the industry has gone. There are hardly any games on disc in a store anymore. You either have to mail order a dvd, or download it from Steam or some other online storefront.

My excuse for caving in on Skyrim was that I bought the Anthology to get Morrowind, and played Skyrim instead.
Like many others, I don't like being on-line for a single-player game, and so I use off-line mode all the time, but of course Steam connects for updates every time it's started. I'm always worried that they have the power to rescind my use of the game on a whim, and even though I have the disks, I wouldn't be able to continue using it. Or they'd download an update that breaks the game.
Or the Steam agent would contain spyware. In a sense, it does, because it's reporting usage back to them, but it's innocuous - so far - I think.
