In Deus Ex I could tell when I was halfway through first time playing it. It was very obvious

Dark Souls seems to a little light on plot. As far as I can tell it starts with hints, then you get flatout told what you're supposed to be doing. And I'm not all that far past that point. So probably somewhere between a quarter and a third of the way through.
