No easy way to say so here it is. I've basically came out to my Dad today that I'm
Agnostic. It's just too much injustice has happened or is happening that I feel religion simply isn't working anymore. I'm still a believer just no longer a worshiper, with so much crap that's happened in my life I think I've justly earned that badge.
I know we aren’t really supposed to talk about this here, but I, for one, commend you for thinking for yourself and making decisions that make sense to you. So many people get caught up in the trap of sticking with something just because they are afraid that they will be disappointing someone they care about. There is a great line in the film
Kingdom of Heaven that has stuck with me through the years. It is spoken by a Hospitaller knight, and just sums up how I’ve always felt about it.
Hospitaller: I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of God. Holiness is in right action and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What God desires is here
[points to head]
Hospitaller: and here
[points to heart]
Hospitaller: and what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man - or not.
Last note and then I’ll shut up (

), I feel this applies to many different spiritual viewpoints, and not just Judeo-Christian ones.
