Another great show. Don't have anything to watch but reruns' though.

Same here, but Seinfeld is on midday so I rarely catch it. Thankfully HIMYM comes on at 6PM
Kane
Feb 21 2017, 05:09 PM
Midday? That's weird. I can usually catch it from 1900-2000, but I rarely see HIMYM reruns.

Feb 21 2017, 05:21 PM
Seinfeld is long gone prime time and so is HIMYM, but the latter is more recent so I guess more people want to see it.
Classic Seinfeld is classic, though

Bums me out that Seinfeld isn't on Netflix. I'd have binged it more than once by now.

Lemme guess your fave character; Kramer
Kane
Feb 21 2017, 05:39 PM
I think he is everyone's favorite.

But I like George almost as much.

Argh. Time is passing too slowly. The new series of
The Magicians starts tonight, and I loved the first series.

I have that book at home. Someday I'll read it.
Callidus Thorn
Feb 21 2017, 08:25 PM
I would certainly recommend it. And then decide on the two that follow it.
I love the books. The characters are pretty screwed up(but I still think they're great, for the most part), but the setup pretty much makes it necessary. Got a couple of issues with the books, but who's ever read a flawless book?
Kane
Feb 21 2017, 08:26 PM
Didn't even realize it was a TV show until a few weeks ago.
As for books; The Redemption of Althalus is flawless

Yeas.
I really, really like that they bothered to print the lyrics in Kawai* so I have a better chance to sing along despite the fact I don't have any idea what it's about

*I think writing Japanese with our letters is called that and I'm gonna keep calling it that until I can be bothered to look it up again
Kane
Feb 21 2017, 09:13 PM
I'll trust your instinct on the matter! I have less than zero knowledge of the Japanese language.
mirocu
Feb 21 2017, 09:17 PM
I listened to my four favourite songs on youtube and it was quite fun to follow along on the paper and more properly see how Suzuka pronounces the words. If I'm ever able to download knowledge like in the Matrix, first thing I'm gonna download is the Japanese language. Followed by Kyokushin karate
Kane
Feb 21 2017, 09:30 PM
Damn, I wish I could download any language like that.
mirocu
Feb 21 2017, 09:35 PM
Yeah

Watching another Kanji lesson on youtube which is very interesting. They explain how a character (with slight variations) can have several meanings and how it can be broken down in order to understand each meaning.
It doesn't feel like learning a language as much as learning how to decypher a code in agent school
Kane
Feb 21 2017, 09:37 PM
Gives a whole new meaning to typo, when you can make a mistake in writing a character. You'd almost have to be born into it to grasp it fully.
mirocu
Feb 21 2017, 09:47 PM
They pointed out that if you don't write each Kanji character in the right order, it may end up being unreadable. They also pointed out that there are thousands and thousands of characters

But by learning what the call "radical Kanji" one will be able to understand more characters as they can be broken down and in context one will get the meaning of the character as a whole.
Needless to say, I mostly watch this because I'm curious about the language. Not to actually learn it as that will take much more dedication

Curiosity is a necessary component of knowledge. There'd be a lot more smart people if folks were more curious.

Feb 21 2017, 09:56 PM
This lesson video is very interesting and informative as they break down and explain each part of a character. I will probably not end up remembering it all unless I watch it over and over etc, but wow. I like how a character can be understood by looking at its components.
I actually understood some writing in the Babymetal booklet when I first looked at it thanks to another video I watched last week! Even did some writing exercise...
