What's really dumb is that someone like myself who is a trained and certified hunter, someone who doesn't have any kind of record (not even a parking ticket) is limited to four guns. If I was a genuine threat to anyone I shouldn't be allowed even one gun, or any knife, hammer, big stick etc etc. And with the strict control on one's history, current behaviour and storage of the guns, why would five guns be a no-no unless "specific needs"?
With regards to hunting, there are several calibers that you need in order to hunt even a select few species and you come up to four guns very fast. Two shotguns, a .30-ought and a .22LR do not cover very well. They are either too powerful or too weak. I may be able to get this gun on account of that but it's not a given.
But I can tell you one thing; I would not be any more of a threat to anyone with a fifth gun.
