Dropped my car off for repair <crosses fingers> first thing yesterday morning. Wore sweats and athletic shoes so I could walk home from the repair shop. Did so. I suspect the distance traveled was at least as far as my exercise-walks. To be on the safe side I walked the first third of my normal 'path' before calling it quits.
Now mid Tuesday afternoon, the car still hasn't been looked at, let alone repaired. That's a problem I tend to have at that shop. They take forever to get around to me. Normally it's not a big deal, as I don't take the car in without knowing I have a good four-five days free to vegetate at home while they get around to me. This time it's different. Due to the nature of my car's ailment, I don't dare drive it any distance. What's more, I wasn't able to make my weekly grocery run. I ran out of bananas today, and will run out of more stuff tomorrow and each day forward. I should get by on short rations and a few skipped meals, assuming the car's done by Friday. Past that point, a distinct possibility, I'm hosed. Poor pitiful Decrepit. LOL.

Decrepit, I hope they get to your car soon, then fix it quickly as well.

Fortunately, it only goes in for service every year or so since I do some things myself. A few 'rental car days' a year is notably cheaper than maintaining a second car as a backup.
The only more budget friendly option I can think of would be some prearranged 'co-op' agreement with a friend in a similar situation where you can ferry each other around a bit during those times when one of you has your car in the shop.

Best I expected was for them to have evaluated the situation and give me an estimate one time-in-shop and bill. At best, I thought, I'll get it back late tomorrow, more likely Thursday or maybe Friday depending on what's wrong. To my happy surprise I was told that the car was done and sitting in my driveway! Sure enough, there it was. I drove straight to the shop and paid my bill, which at $145US is another happy surprise. With the sound my car was making, and where those sounds originated from, I fully expected to shell out a LOT more.
So, all's well that ends well, assuming what they repaired indeed ends my car issues for the foreseeable future. I'll make a grocery run first thing tomorrow, so not face any overt food shortage other than not having a banana for tomorrow's oatmeal + fruit breakfast. A younger me would make the run today, but I no longer feel comfortable driving in the dark except in unavoidable situations, which isn't the case here.

<sighs> I had a TS2021 video 'processing' at YouTube well over 24hrs. Earlier today I rewatched my local copy. To my not unexpected horror, I noticed, among other things, two substantial text narrative errors, near video end, that escaped notice while 'proofing'. I quickly corrected my local copy but decided to let the YouTube vid stand as is, warts and all. It bugged me ever since. A short while ago I reversed myself, deleted the still processing video, and uploaded the 'corrected' video. It's only about halfway uploaded now. Thankfully, I had its description and tags saved as a word-processing file. (But copied over the word-processer's description with YouTube's, which had been altered in a number of ways.)
I'm sure I'll spot other errors before all is said and done. But I just couldn't let those two pass.

I don't want that at Chez Cottage actually, despite everything. What I do want is TV6 to get their act together and start showing HIMYM, Family Guy, American Dad and Scrubs again - not just Seinfeld and Simpsons!

I got to see an Alienware Aroura and a PS5 and even got to touch them! The Aroura was $1700.00 smackers and the PS5 was about $900.00! Yeah that electronics store can keep them. Funny thing my PC is almost as powerful as the Aroura, it just needed the Ryzen 7 processor, mine has a Ryzen 5 which still does a fantastic job at gaming, I mean if the Aroura is first place, my PC is a VERY close runner up.
Got in an exercise-walk today! With the entire day forecast for showers, rains, and storms, it wasn't a given. My original thought, based on an early morning hourly forecast, was to head out around 1300, that hour being allotted to scattered showers only. However, the forecast changed. I headed out sometime around 1030-1045. Wise decision. No precipitation. Little water on streets. What's more, I finished up at the exact perfect time. I turned onto my street to see the mailperson open my mailbox and fill it with goodies! At that point I was only a lot-length from being done. Inside the mailbox were two Amazon orders as expected, the new issue of MaximumPC Magazine, a TrcCare-for-Life billing statement showing that they covered all remaining costs for recent medical appointments / CPAP items, and an invitation to attend a High school reunion.
Neither Amazon order is overly exciting. However, one is a short book on the history of the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway (LB&SCR), a favorite of mine. Much of it is historic photos, so will take little time to read.

Managed to develop a farm in SimVille! That is difficult as industrial buildings tend to develop in the same zone. Now I'm looking to finally develop a seaport.
