Urgh. Playing New Vegas today just reminded me why I never bother with companions in Oblivion...
I LOVE the companions in New Vegas! I got a mod that lets them "relax" if you go into a casino or at your residence wherever that might be. I had a mod that made Victor's Shack a little more like a home; and I went in and put down a bunch of NPC Idle Markers - brought my follower there and told her to "Wait" while I hung out there for a while (so she wasn't dogging my footsteps) - and she sat down on the floor in front of the fire, sat at the bar, warmed her hands, etc. - It was AWESOME !!!
Sure, they're nice enough, and useful, but sometimes... *shakes head*
I just had Ed-E float out into the open to take on three turrets and two robots singlehanded. And once he'd moved I couldn't get him back to safety. And my last save was twenty minutes or so beforehand

So my floating fridge/workbench(seriously, at this point he was just carrying steaks, weapon repair kits, and components to make more) got himself blown up

Aw, I hate when that happens! Ed-E is a fun companion, too. (though impossible to sneak with him around, lol).

So, youīre saying getting games on Steam is better than getting them on cartridges?

No, not better. Just convenient at times. Like I used to bring my laptop to work and play video games on my lunch hour; and I had to bring a bunch of disks that could get broken or lost/stolen.
Not to mention, the cheap price for the games, I picked up the Ultimate New Vegas; GOTY Fallout 3; and Legendary Skyrim - all three for under 33.00 US Dollars. (I already had the basic Skyrim disk, but none of the DLC. Even though I wasn't playing it, I thought I might want to try the DLC's one day. And on Fallout 3, I only had it for the 360, and my dog broke the 360 disk).

Wait, did Oblivion even have companions?
