Got in my first lawn-mow of the year. Not the first mow of the lawn. As I might have mentioned, a neighbor lad unsolicitedly did that for me some time ago. Truth to tell, the lawn didn't need mowing today. Not really. But rain and/or storms are predicted for tomorrow through Thursday. Plus, due to low spots in my yard I can't mow it until some days after rains end. That being the case, I decided to get it over with. Besides, I'd not yet tested the new mower.
These mowings take more out of me each year. I don't really notice 'while' I mow, though I will as it gets warmer, but soon as I shut down I get quite light-headed and physically drained. My blood pressure didn't budge an inch, staying comfortably safe at 107/71. But my pulse jumped up to 113, and hasn't yet fallen below 105. (To be fair, only 30min have passed. My normal at-rest pulse readings vary from 61-91.) I wish I had had the funds for a riding mower or one of those new-fangled self-mowers. Dream on.

ADDENDUM: Now circa 1435, my heart reading is 110/60 with a pulse of 89. I hit the 100 mark about an hour after mowing ended. Not too shabby, I suppose, though I wish it had dropped quicker. Looking back, I ought to have taken a break mid way through the mow, as I did all last year. This being the first mow of the season it totally slipped my mind until after the fact.
