Why is this interesting?
The Fly Amanita mushroom in real life is very poisonous and can cause seizures and liver damage.
Now I will credit the gamemakers and say that there IS shock damage in the Oblivion game, and it can be argued that the mushroom is treated to be rendered useful during the alchemical boiling process, such as in real life where the fungi is eaten after paraboiling (partial boiling) but when dried, can cause hallucinations.

Not really, lol. The chance I'd ever get to use this knowledge is very slim, unless I'm kidnapped and just HAPPEn to be take to a place where Bloodroot grows. Then I can use the sap to toss at my attackers and disfigure them...eventually...XD
Or make them dinner with Hemlock as seasoning. Poison mushrooms. Doubt it.

Steel-blue entoloma ca. The entoloma species is poisonous and is even more dangerous than the amanita family. Though there's no specific shroom called "steel blue" in real life, there is blue entoloma.

It's not technically poison! It doesn't harm the player directly! It only HELPS the attacker harm the player.

It's not technically poison! It doesn't harm the player directly! It only HELPS the attacker harm the player.
That's like saying poisons only HELP taking the life bar a few notches down, it's not harming the victim DIRECTLY!

But it doesn't deplete the player's health. Poison is supposed to KILL you slowly. Damaging strength doesn't kill you directly!

You're looking at poison through a narrow scope. Poison can be categorized as anything that harms you. There's lethal poisons and non-lethal.
Think about it: Entoloma, the mushroom that STARTED this discussion, it POISONOUS.
In small enough dosages, it can fatigue and weaken the imbiber.
The larger the dose, or the more mushroom you have in it, the more lethal it gets. Hence why if you combine the mushroom with something that causes shock damage as well, BOOM, your health goes down.
