What a night! Along about 2030 I began hiccuping. Tried a number of standard treatments. Lots of breath holding. Guzzling large glasses of water. So on and so forth. Nothing helped. Come bedtime I'm still hiccuping. Kept me up passed midnight, but the hiccups were fairly light. Was able to nod off not much after 0030. Woke circa 0130 with a sore neck but no hiccups. Switched from my side to my back in hope of lessening neck pain. What happened instead was a return of hiccups...more pronounced that before. I endured this for a bit, then crawled out of bed and did more breath holding. Didn't work. Went to the kitchen and gulped down a large glass of water. Eureka! That did the trick. Hiccups stopped, and stayed stopped. The damage had been done by then. I was no longer sleepy. Read A Storm of Swords in bed quite some time, reaching nearly its end, before nodding off for a final brief nap. I woke for the day from circa 0400. No hiccups! Was at the computer by 0415. At 0430 I began my morning TMJ neck stretch/exercise session. POOF...hiccups. They lasted the duration of my exercise routine and on into breakfast. Something involved with the eating/drinking process got rid of 'em again. They've not been back since. <crosses fingers>

First hiccup attack I've had in ages. Hopefully the last such attack for a long time to come.

ADDENDUM: Took a potty break several minutes ago (as of 0801). While returning from that hiccups set in again. I've guzzled two big glasses of water and done more breath holding, to no effect. This gets old.

Man, nothing is as annoying as hiccups

On my note, did some more digging this afternoon, progressing onward. While the weather had been picture perfect this morning with clear skies and Sub-Zero temps, afternoon brought rain. By then I had dug a substantial hole and Dad and I decided to call it a day. Next time I'll be throwing in some rocks.

On an unrelated note, I gotta admit I'm a little annoyed that Camp NaNoWriMo starts on a saturday. Somewhat inconvenient, since I'm out all day on saturdays.

Update on hiccups. The bout that started roughly 0800 lasted until lunch, then vanished as I ate. They stayed away until a few minutes ago, only to reappear as I laid abed on my back reading. There was nothing for it at that point but to return to the computer. I attempted more water swallowing. As before nothing came of it. If this episode holds true to form I'll keep at it until supper, too many hours away.
