So even though you've pretty much told the guy "it ain't gonna work", you still have to finish out the 3 weeks no pay?

Four weeks, and yes. I will finish the last week. I could terminate it early but it would look bad for me, especially before I get a new job. And besides, if I know it's my last week it will mostly just feel snazzy

I do sincerely hope it's my last week there anyway...

Have the local TV station on in the living room in weather coverage kicks in again. Why in the world to so many people put up with the crap modern US TV is today? Infomercial after infomercial. Boy are those obnoxious. Even "regular" shows are so commercial laden they might as well be infomercials. "Reality" TV. Gag me with a fork. Celeb "gossip" shows? No thanks. Mainstream news? Nothing but propaganda for the establishment. (Yet telling us there is danger from "Fake News", which is in reality often simply alternative media offering different perspectives and exposing truths that MSM attempts to bury.) Gotta admitted I've never had an interest in Sports Channels or Religious stations. Almost the only honest thing left on commercial TV (that you don't have to pay extra for) is weather reporting, which is the only use I have for it. (Okay, PBS occasionally offers something decent.)

In terms of governance? In theory I believe they do have some power, but I don't know if it's ever actually employed.
Supposedly they work out as an economic gain because of all the land they own, and they're good for public relation and diplomacy from time to time, and they provide us with some tourist attractions.
