Lies. Misrepresentation. Spin Doctoring.
For example, America has always been a Republic, not a Democracy. Oh, sure they use the word Democracy but it is not one.
Case in point: Eight years of Dubya Bush. At first everyone was freaking out because Gore had lost. So what they did is went back and tallied up all the votes.
Now, here's where we learn the difference between Democracy and a Republic.
Democracy is direct voting. That is your vote counts.
A Republic is a representative voting system, your vote doesn't count for crap. It's your Representative's that does.
So, Gore won the popular vote by 500,000 votes....but lost the Electoral College, which is a representative body in each state. Not only that, it has *always* been that way. The American people have *never* been the ones to elect their leader, not since Ben Franklin waddled out of the Congress and said: "A Republic, if you can keep it."
It's right there in Black and White on the Constitution, but we're raised with this notion that our vote counts. It does not. It never did. Welcome to the 'Free World'.
This is an interesting fact. Things were a bit easier to manage back then though as well being that there were far fewer states and populations weren't quite so drastically concentrated within a few small areas. The electoral college system has never really worked and it is even worse now because since it is tied to population we've more or less got voting blocs that all vote the same way every time with a couple of states that swing just enough either way to decide who wins. California is basically guaranteed to be democrat every year, which gives 55 electoral votes based on their population, while Texas is basically guaranteed to vote Republican every year, which gives 38 electoral votes. Then there are the ever important swing states which can go either way and inevitably choose who wins every election.

Oh lord,here we go again....
I love you all like family, but this forum is getting increadibly repitious.
Goverment did this,someone did that.
Money is bad,let's rebel.
Hate and negitivity.
Meh, you're going to find this everywhere you go. People just aren't extremely satisfied with their governments right now because of relatively poor performance all over the world. Deficits are climbing, unemployment is on the rise, and more people are entering poverty than ever before in many places.
