What exactly is BankID? I’m assuming it’s some kind of way of tracking people’s money and spending history.
It's a way to identify yourself on the internet. That may sound good but to me it's totalitarian and it has complicated things to the point I can't buy anything online anymore. I can't order and then pay the bill like I used to without first identifying myself. Sometimes more than once. And to do this you need a smartphone and then downloading and setting it up and linking it to your account. I know this may sound easy enough for everyone here because you have smartphones, but I don't have one and I don't want one. And my point is; I used to be able to buy anything with ease before, so this is not a step forward as far as I'm concerned.
So far I can still declare my taxes and pay utilitarian bills without it, but it's only a matter of time before I can't and then I'm well and truly cooked. I'm actually scared because they never stop changing things. I probably won't even be able to go online at all soon without having to identify myself.

Trading sites require it now too, probably because of fraud (and miro knows who I'm aiming that at). I don't think you can even get a cell phone anymore without one. The SIM requires BankID to buy because drug dealers and smugglers were getting burner phones. - _-.
It's all in the name of safety but it's in reality nanny state BS, they're trying to protect us from ourselves while controlling our activities.

Saki is right on point. I can't even get a smartphone or a new SIM because ordering them requires BankID. I can't sell anything on trading sites because even getting an account there requires BankID.
Furthermore, to even get a new BankID I need to have a national ID card or a passport to identify myself. A driver's license isn't enough anymore.

Oh and I heard the Skatteverket ID cards aren't valid either, effectively locking all immigrants out. You can't get a national ID til you get citizenship, immigrants get their ID through the tax agency.

Congrats! My state did away with yearly car inspections quite some time ago. Our only requirements for renewing car tags are property tax assessment (done over the phone), proof of auto insurance, and forking up the annual fee.
We can renew online. I did it that way for a couple of years. Last year the system malfunctioned. This year I needed to renew my Driver's License. That required a trip to the revenue office, where I also renewed tags.

Yes. We're expected to recycle every last little bit of plastic and metal, given tiny arsed garbage bins, half of which is for food waste. Yet they don't do curbside recycling pickup. I have no way to take them to the big bins until they're too full to take my stuff, but I do recycle soda bottles.
