Lead-acid went to gel or absorbed-mat electrolytes for safety reasons a long time ago. The liquid stuff's nasty if it spills, so they won't let you.
Actually, all the bikes I've looked at have lead acid batteries, and they're the fill yourself type.
Maintenance free supposedly, you take the thingy of acid and shove it down onto the battery and let it empty into it, then put the cap strip on it and charge.
I might look into getting a gel battery, just because I don't like the idea of lead acid batteries.
This however, is a very common motorcycle/ATV battery here.
