She had a doctor's appointment for some surgery she had done on her ear last year. She didn't know how long it was gonna take.

I can't go in. My assistant has to...sigh...work by herself... No one else can go in either. I mean, we've both done it several times. I'm calling periodically to check in on her.

My mother was put on the morphine drip yesterday morning. That means her time left won't be much longer. I'm really glad she went so long pain free, so we could all spend this last time with her or talking to her. My older son managed to slip the Army for the weekend and see her one last time at the end of April. She was lucid and not in pain, I'm really glad he got to see her then and not now.

For all of you who have been going through this last six months of her illness with me, I thank you so much for the support and friendship you have shown. It means a lot, and really does help just to hear your kind words.

Oh mALX, I'm so sorry about your mother. May she rest in peace.
