Not much going on with me right now, same old same mostly. Bought Dragon Age Origins the other day and I'm loving it so far, been playing it nearly non stop for like three days...damn I love it. The story is very fluid and while its not entirely original it does vary alot between characters origins and gameplay choices.

Hello for the few of you who might think there is something familiar about my name (yes I've been away for a long time) I am now anouncing my return to this wonderful forum and my goodness I've missed it.

So now I'm disappearing into the RP and Fanfiction section, as I think it's about time I satr updating some of my hopefully not completely forgotten fics.

Thanks Minque, it certainly feels good to be back as well. I can't say how much I missed our not so little anymore community.

Well for that's it for now I guess, I gotta go and update Telina again (update should be finished and posted within a couple of hours) stay tuned folks I'm outtie

Pardon me for (ab)using the Coffee Shop as my venting arena, but -

I'm working for minimum wage, with barely any hours. Despite this, I've done fairly well at saving money. I was actually very happy about how well I've been doing that, until I got a bill that is going to drain ALL of said money at the end of the month. At least I can pay the bill, I guess. kvright.gif Merry Christmas.

On the plus side, I've been working on a bunch of music with my band. We got really inspired, and worked all yesterday on lyrics, and today on the music. On the downside my neighbor thinks its too loud. I talked to her today (very respectfully, I might add) and she wants us to play on a schedule. I guess that's reasonable in a sense, but at the same time we cant write, practice, and come out with a decent song while only being able to work between 11 and 1pm. Not to mention the absurdity of someone else dictating when I do something in my own home. Creating something from nothing takes time, and unfortunately, you can't really schedule creativity. They told me to soundproof my room too, like that's cheap and I'm made of cash or something. I'm trying to get serious about music but I feel like I'm just getting stomped on in every way possible. (I would talk some crap about all these Yankees moving South and then complaining about the way we live here, but I'll let it slide this time. Too late? Oops.) I'm trying to be mature about this, but it's really hard to resist the temptation to play even louder for about 8 hours straight.

@##@!@#$%^%!!!!

Whew. Glad that's over. How are you guys?
Olen
Good luck with dealing with that neighbour Dantrag, she sounds a bit up tight. They can be quite irritating at times.

We had one of them last year. This year we've decided not to heat the flat but damn does it got cold. It's warmer todat than at the weekend (and particularly yeasterday) but it's still only 12 C in my bedroom, and thats with me and a server heating it. Yesterday afternoon it went down to 7 C before the neightbours put their heating on but the way I think about it is that if I don't heat and just put on a hat and jacket I'll have the money to get myself something nice rather than just a passing moment of warmth.

I also currently do hours at uni which mean I rarely see the sun (the physics building for unknown reasons has no windows). Saying that its all slowing down now which is nice and when it snows things will be better. Another plus is that I've got a little worldbuilding forum up and running (apologies for the plug) see the sig.

I'm not trying to write a hate song about her; I honestly just don't want to think about it too much. I'm not holding a grudge or anything, I was just peeved when I wrote that yesterday. I wasn't really angry, just kind of surprised at the absurdity of it all. She said it was so loud she didn't even want to be in her house, which seems unlikely, since there is a fair amount of space between our houses, not to mention walls. You can definitely hear some noise outside my house, but inside hers? I doubt it. But after some time and thought I have a new mindset; it's just another obstacle I'll work around for now until I can pass over it completely.

As far as listening to the songs, we're still in the writing stage. we don't have any songs recorded, except for improv jams and small guitar fragments i lay down so I don't forget them later. I'll post a link when we get some though.

side note: these forums are still awesome, if a bit slow right now. A lot of people have come and gone, but just as many have stuck around all these years. I just realized I've been coming here since I was at most 15. (I'm pretty sure the 'joined' dates here for the old members are flawed because of the forum switch that happened. I want to say I was actually 13.) I haven't been the most active member lately, but I do lurk around still.

Channler
Yea man.. Its been a long time since we joined.. Doing the RP'ing and stuff. Great fun you know? Just so damn busy in college and stuff hard to remember to come back and say hi. Lots of stuff have changed since those beginning days both in life and on the forums.

I hope everyone else is doing well though.

Yeah, work and ultimate frisbee, keeping me busy and tired and away from my writing instruments. But hey, Chorrol is still alive and kicking. I imagine it'll pick up some more once the new TES game gets close.

I know the feeling, if you think about it its actually kind of odd that this many people still frequent here considering how long its been since most of us were actually waiting4oblivion. There have been slow spells like this many times but it seems that even some of the people who used to come here alot no longer do, its kinda sad really since this was actually the first forum I ever joined, still one of my favorites too.

When all hope for progress and betterment of life is gone, what does one do? Where does one draw strength to live another 50 years caught in a groundhog day? i'm asking because I really have no bloody clue.

It's friday; I used to love fridays, but now I rarely have a saturday off. Seems like we're going to ditch sundays too, have ourselves a nice 7-day workweek fiesta for holidays. All to make rich even richer.

Do not fret Mr.Oven, I'm still here at the very least...err that is that I have just returned from my about two year hiatus.

Still, I suppose having to work nine hours a day and have studies on top of that really cuts into both forum and writing time. Fortunately I have finished my education (again) and changed jobs so now I have two weeks with twelve hour shifts, and a month spare time between each time I need to work again.

Oh and Dantrag, I fully agree with you, creativity doesn't come and go on demand, though I do hope that your neighbour isn't such a hypocrite as mine is. My neighbour complains about me playing guitar, yet every weekend he holds loud parties, playing techno music as if he's trying to kill me and tear down my house at the same time so I basichally say F%(/&%(/ him...and I play as loud on my guitar as I want, beacuse if he thinks he has the right to ruin every single one of my weekends with his parties (not to mention drunken guests who tries to beat down my door every time) then I preserve the right to F*** up his week days so that he is forced to show up grumpy and tired every morning at work.

Phew...that really felt good I must say, anyways now that I've gotten that off my chest I'm off to write another update for Telina.

Well I always thing there is opportunity for advancement. Maybe not in your specific field however so you might just need to phase shift to different goals and visions. There are always stories of people changing what they do even late and life. They are happier and perhaps wealthier because of it.

For instance I'm not always going to be an active marine, one day I want to do something else and I might be 45 or older at that point.. who knows. But there's always possibilities.

I'f you like to visit a city with great christmas celebrations I suggest Lubeck...I was there last year. But I must say that the Christmas market at Lisberg in Gøteborg is great as well (that's where I've been this last week).

Anyways I hope that your trainride improves.
Olen
Edinburgh has a German market at christmas, always fun to wander round though it's horribly expensive. There's a Scottish christmas market next to it which serves food you wouldn't believe, it's no secret that we have one of the highest rates of heart disease in Europe and that market might be responsible. Deep fired white pudding may be tasty but its about half saturated fat.

Anyway I'm just recovering from the final weekend of term, no more lectures until january for me (quite a bit of course work though) smile.gif. Was in Glasgow on friday to see Electric Six play, they're brilliant live and niche enough that tickets aren't too expensive. Then a christmas meal in one of the unions on Saturday which ended around breakfast time yesterday. Good fun but I don't recover like I used to.
minque
Lübeck has probably the most famous christmas markets in Germany, but for me it's too big! I'd like to see things not just being shoved forwards by a big crowd! I've seen it on TV...and of course it's really a big thing. When I lived in Stade in 2004 I got used to a more humble Xmas market...I even made friends there with one of the Flühwein-sellers....A very good thing I'd say! biggrin.gif
minque
Ok so I'm off to Germany again tomorrow..just during the weekend, but I won't be online during that time

Very well, enjoy yourself will you? I'll probably finish editing the existing chapters of Telina and send them forth to Alex in that time, as well as punch out a new update I suppose.
milanius
Sometimes, being a sickly creature by nature has some advantages.

Since the 2nd wave of H1F1 flu hit the land and at the same time I gradually started feeling worse during yesterday's work (nose becoming a fountain, sneezing every 15sec, unable to even talk to customers) my boss got scared crapless and told me to go to doc, rest over weekends and further into next week. Doc also sent me to get my blood checked and lungs scanned, never mind the fact that I don't have fever, don't caught and that I've always had sinus and nose troubles.

So now I'm feeling a bit better and trying not to think about those three poor sods who are left to run the entire shop at the start of holiday season. On th other hand, I've had my share of 13-hour shifts, so I can only guess it's karma. At least I'll get some sleep.

Good health to everyone and keep yourselves warm.
Olen
Sorry to hear you're ill but at least you're making the most of the rest.

I am warmer than I have been now becuase our downstairs neighbour have put their heating on a timer which means the flat only ever gets so cold. Outside is horrible here though, freezing fog might be the worst weather of all (unless you need an organ donation). Means I'll be walking to uni because I just down trust drivers here to see a bike in the fog - they often don't in bright sun. Still one advantage of the cold is that it gets me to uni because they heat the library nicely.

Of course with the flat being warmer condensation has begun to dribble off everything so t might be time to get out the fungicide.
Burnt Sierra
I am now seriously considering a career change.

At the minute, I work as a recycling advisor for the local council. This entails visiting householders, schools and local business outlets to encourage and teach them to recycle.

My visit to a householder today ended up with my being sworn at, pushed, and finally punched in the back of the head.

And I couldn't do anything.

If I turned around and punched him, which he truly ******* deserved, I would have been fired. Instead, I had to take it, then inform my manager -who decided to do sod all, apart from offer fake sympathy.

I am really, really pissed off.
Olen
That sucks fairly majorly.

If you want to kick off take three days off because of a headache at which point your employer is legally obliged to report it to their 'enforcing authority'. On returning ask for their risk assesments and records of the arrangments made to minimise risk (records are legally required).

Sounds like you could get them under the The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, I imagine a few paragraphs of either quoted to the right person would wake them up some.

Hope things get better anyway...
mplantinga
I haven't been around much lately; sadly, this is becoming normal for me and I really miss hanging out in the fanfic forum. I do still try to read stuff when I can, but I usually don't manage to find the time to make meaningful comments. My apologies and thanks to all the people who continue to write great stories here.

I also want to mention that I did find a new job smile.gif I'm now working as a post-doctoral fellow at the Anderson Cancer Institute, researching pathways (and perhaps eventually treatments) of cancers. Thanks to all who wished me luck on the job search.
stargelman
Hey all, haven't shown my face around here much lately, but this has been one hectic year, let me tell you. Just a short while ago I've moved into a new appartment with my girlfriend, and we're still in the process of setting everything up. The kitchen is mostly done, the most important curtains are hanging and all in all it's going well, but it's a hell of a lot of work and it leaves me very little time for anything else. I'm on vacation and I'm still getting up at 5 in the morning to get enough work done before christmas.

But it's worth it smile.gif

Merry christmas and best wishes to everyone here at Chorrol.com, I'm really glad you're all still coming here.
Kiln
I second that, I'm glad so many people still frequent these forums as well, I've really loved this community and its good to see that its still as active as it is. biggrin.gif

Merry almost Christmas everyone, now its off to bed for me so I can get up and go to work tonight...then I'll get a few much needed days off for food and family. santaclaus.gif cake.gif
Olen
Doubt I'll be on tomorrow or much until the new year (at parents for the begining of the holidays and my computer system here is awful, the monitor is older then me and only has intermittant red) so I'll say merry christmas now. santaclaus.gif

Hope everyone enjoys it. The snow is thick here which is really unusual because there's salt on everything, looks like it might be the first white christmas in over a decade.

Excellent excuse for a mulled wine wink.gif.

Well- I think replacing the MW CD is fairly easy- even in Sweden... Although I admit to having a soft spot for my original game material....

The PC... spouses (and children, dogs, cats, etc.) need to understand that the purpose of having a PC is to play games (and surf Chorrol, naturally). All other uses will be vetted and decided upon by a board of TES enthusiasts.
mplantinga
My PC certainly exists primarily for games; although I don't have as much time for those as I once did. That's not all bad, but it is a change.

I hope everybody that took a break over that last week or so has had a relaxing time.
Badda-Tish
Hello everybody, I have returned.
Olen
Well I'm back to full activity seeing as I'm back in Edinburgh and have a decent computer to use again. It's only when I go to my parents that I realise how nice it is to have a good monitor (the one on my system there is older than I am and the cathode ray which does the red pixels is dead which makes everything look weird). Anyway I got back to find ice inside the bathroom window and the thermometer in my bedroom reading 3*C. That's with the heating on twice daily.

On the plus side I haven't had to brave the fridge yet, just left the milk on the table.
bbqplatypus
Well, the new semester starts in a week, and I just discovered that there's a missing part of my junior college transcript that could muck up my entire graduation plan. And here I was thinking I had everything under control. Silly me.

In any event, I've resolved myself to study hard, but also get out and enjoy myself once in a while. I'm so much happier when I do, but I haven't done that nearly enough. It's my greatest regret so far, and I hope to rectify it soon.
Soulseeker3.0
Minque may no longer play the MW??? You should teach your family not to mess with your MW computer! smile.gif My roommate and I play Morrowind occasionally still even. biggrin.gif
Black Hand
To those who have the computer capacity for it, I highly recommend checking out the Mods section in the Officials. The 'Renaissance' of modding is starting I believe, better trees, better graphics, Ive even seen someone working on a new body supposedly better the Better Bodies even, cant say too much, but it looks promising. Viva la Morrowind, cuz modding it is far from dead.
canis216
I still play the odd game of Morrowind, though I've been so busy of late that I've hardly had time to play much of anything. Been captaining an ultimate frisbee team for a big tournament in Las Vegas. The lead-in was hectic (weather screwing with everything) and then the weekend in Vegas was wild. That's a crazy city.
mplantinga
I've been playing Morrowind again lately, and even cranked out a couple (very simple) mods specifically for House Redoran. One is a set of bonemold armor that gives you increasingly powerful bonuses as you level up in House Redoran's favored skills; the other is a combat trainer in the council hall practice room that you can engage in one-on-one combat to train combat skills (see forums threads: here and here). /shameless plug

Ah dr Planty! So incredibly nice to see you're still out there lurking around! Those mods looks very interesting, I'll certainly download...ehhh when I get a comp that will run MW without CTD after two minutes.

In the meantime I've sort of taking up writing again...

Can you get Morrowind on Steam?
Black Hand
Yes, you can. i have such a copy. You can even mod it, but you can't put TR or one of the code patches.

As for modding it: http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/528344-s...ot-modding.html

Follow these steps and you'll be fine.
minque
oookay..now please enlighten a dumb one and tell me what Morrowind on Steam really means...I'm not familiar with that....

See I miss playing MW....yeah I do sad.gif
Sir Radont
Steam is a digital delivery service made by Valve Software (the creators of Half-Life). You download it, create a free account, then you can buy all kinds of games and they are linked to your account forever. And since you download the games you don't have to worry about CDs getting scratched, broken, or lost.

You can have friends on there too and join groups and whatnot, it is quite robust and I have been using it since 2004.

We had a little technical problem on wednesday. I'm afraid the aftereffects may have lasted until yesterday, even though I did my best to fix it right away.

Problem was with the nameservers for the domains - they just evaporated and I had to get new ones, and it just takes a while for such changes to propagate. Unfortunate, but what can one do.

On the upside, now something like that shouldn't happen again, ever.

I noticed but it still remains a fact that chorrol is extremely reliable, I think that's only the second time I couldn't reach it since I joined quite a while ago...

Can't say I really have anything to say, uni has me stuck in an endless cycle of grey days, dark rooms and unpleasant maths with the occasional experement which doesn't work to brighten things up. It's not so much bad as just all the same, I like the overall course (even if most of this semester is rubbish) but if you asked me what I did last week, or even two days ago, I'd have no memory but could tell you. Same as next week...

Still come the end of may I have lots of holiday through the summer so I just have to wait until then.

Going to Norway on sunday, together with my son. Hopefully the trains and buses are reliable despite the snow-chaos...
