I have a computer again!!!

YAY! WOOT! HURRAH!

and so on...

This has been the longest time since 1999, that I've had to do without one. Lesson learned though - no more laptops for me. I don't care how handy they are, if one thing goes wrong inside of them - you is knackered sad.gif

So, I've spent a fairly obscene amount of money (by my standards anyway tongue.gif ) on a nice new quad core desktop viking.gif It's so pretty...

Anyhoo....

BACK ONLINE AGAIN!

(quite happy about this, as you can see wink.gif )

Good stuff, I'd be interested to know if you find quad core worth it. And don't get me started on laptops.

Can we have another update to Poisonous Garden now?

The only problem with PS3 is you can't mod sad.gif

You do? What's your username thing?
Lord Revan

I got the RRD a year ago, I've heard that Microsoft corrected the problem. I guess a few weeks without next gen gaming was worth enjoying it seeing as Microsoft beat Sony to the market. It's also helpful that I got to keep my hard drive. biggrin.gif I didn't miss a beat once I got my new 360.

Most of the gamers at my school have 360s and live so we have a little chuckle that the 2-3 PS3 users can't enjoy playing people they know.

Welcome back, Burny! smile.gif
Colonel Mustard
We actually have exactly the opposite at my school,

And the 360 owners all want PS3s now.

You know, this rivalry between consoles is a really clever piece of marketing, isn't it?

Yes lets not continue this argument though, neither console owner is ever going to convince the other that their console is better. Its not likely anyways, what is likely is for someone to get into trouble if people start the whole, "my console is better" discussion.

Well I just had a mixed day. It started with a distasterous Physical Chemistry exam which won't bore you with.

Then I was invited along for a trip to Ireland in june. Plan is to cycle down the west coast which looks senic and generally fun. And even better it gives me an excuse to put together another bike (I like bicycles, especially mending them). Should make an entertaining warm-up for the rest of the summer.

So yea, it makes up for a disasterous exam smile.gif

Haha, hope you have good raingear then. The West coast has awesome scenery, but it's also very windy and rainy a lot of the time. Something to do with that little pond called the Atlantic being right next to it, I hear tongue.gif
And it being summer won't save you either... Irish summers are usually miserable XD

What's it like as far as midges go? I'm guessing weatherwise it's similar to the west coast of Scotland (rain rain hail rain smirr rain rain) but like the west coast warm and scenic. But I don't know if it's as bad for midges...

I'm trying not to think about damp tents *shudders*. At least on a bike I can have a 2 man to myself.

It's a while since I've been out there, but from what I can remember, it's not too bad for them. It helps that there isn't actually a huge amount of trees out there... mostly empty moorish type land and hills and such. But yeah, don't recall midges being an issue.

Hello one and all. Sorry for the long periods of silence. Recently, Ive gotten into modding Morrowind, and Ive pretty good at it too.

I joined Great House Fliggerty some time ago, and my idea for Oblivion Style Morrowind Poison got the attention of ModGod Fliggerty himself, so Ive been working on that a bit. Ive also recently mastered Oblivion to Morrowind Mod Conversion, so Ive been a bit busy with that as well. Heck, I even converted a set of Weapons to go with Westly's "Creed of the Assassin" Armor.

But the main reason for the silences and pauses is all the classes I'm taking, in the State of California, there is a major Nursing shortage right now, meaning top dollar for everything from CNA's to RN's. CNA is the easiest, as its called "Certified Nursing Assistant" they basically are to Nurses what Nurses are to Doctors.

So hopefully Ill be one of those Male Nurses soon. And go ahead and call me "Gaylord M. Focker" all you want, I'll still make more money then you! wink.gif tongue.gif

seerauna
That's pretty cool Black. My mom was one for awhile before she graduated college in December. Now she's an RN. Hope that works out for you!

My mother's an RN, and I know people with Gaylord as their family name. I don't expect you'll get a pay raise if they make healthcare universal......

No, but it would be worth it, I do support Universal Healthcare. People are not resources to be drained of money. My taxes pay for roads, public transportation, education, defense, the court system, and all civil service jobs. They darn well better be taking care of me in my old age if they're stealing money from my check to support the other retirees! XD

Bolzmania
Oh really? 25-26 degrees happens to be my favorite temperature. Haha!
seerauna
25 C is about 77 F. That sounds great to me right now it's 92 F here. About 33 C if I'm right?
Colonel Mustard
No idea.

Does anybody else a completely nonsensical way of measuring temperature.
Wolfie
It's been somewhere around 21-25 degrees C here the last few days too. I can't stand it, I don't do well in heat at all, even though most wouldn't consider that particularly hot. I am definitely a cold weather person.

Sorry to hear that, good Sensei. Look at the tiny bit of bright side: you lost, but you got to love first. Otherwise, you'd be as cold and desolate as me and that is not a pretty prospect.

In the meantime, here's a bit of cheap laughs. I've learned that even cheapest laugh helps when you're down and out.
Lord Revan
Sorry about the girlfriend. I've never had one to lose, but a girl I really liked is moving away this summer. One-sided relationship lost can't be as bad as having her affection and losing it. sad.gif

PS: It sucks she told you with a text message, sounds kind of cold.

Sensei, having been dumped by 2 girls to whom I was engaged, I will tell you a few things I know to be true:

You will hurt for a while

You will feel better- it will take some indeterminate time

You will be stronger

Nothing much anyone says will make the process any less painful, but it is still important to talk to your friends and stay involved in living your life.
Colonel Mustard
Just remember, what can't kill you can only make you stronger.

Unless it cripples you...

Well I'm back from Ireland...

What a week, brilliant sun all the time barring this morning - on the west coast of Ireland. Really great camping places, warm sun, good cider and instant mashed potato - It was fantastic.

Well mainly, it was so hot and sunny the roads melted and by the third day there were pools of liquid tar in places and huge holes opening because the surface was like toffee (and a lot of work to cycle through, yes through the bike wheels were cutting lines). Anyway in an understandable attempt to still have a road network the council was scattering gravel and as it turns out tar coated gravel is not fun to be hit by. It also combined with a bike chain and rear mech to cause a catastrophic failure. A friends rear mech exploded, quite literally we swept it off the road, and the stone also buckled the chain beyond all repair and burst a spoke on the back wheel.

Sounds bad but all easily repaired, it also broke the dropout which turns out to be the only part which you can't by over the counter in ireland (we drove all the way to Belfast looking and didn't get it). So the second half was more walking and lying around in the sun... Still fine though.

So irritating but we got the best bit anyway: the coast of Sligo and Mayo is rather special. But perhaps not the distance I'd have liked, though saying that my bike was having an attack of the gremlins anyway. And I have a lovely tan/ moderate sunburn.

Thanks. I think its worse because we were such good friends before. She knows me better than anyone round here, and knows exactly what relationship related crap I've had happen to me in the past (a list she's now joined). I don't understand any of this. We've talked, all she's said to me is things like it doesn't feel right and its better to end it now rather than later when it hurts more. She does seem to feel genuinely bad for upsetting me but I don't really know what to make of that. I did say some stuff I shouldn't have at a time I really shouldn't have so managed to bring about the end sooner than it otherwise would have been... I really don't know what to make of any of it right now.

I'm keeping myself busy though, keeping up aikido training and going out with friends.

Awesome. Very much so.

I've got myself a nice weekend planned. Ultimate frisbee tournament down in Flagstaff, some disc golf, some respite from the oppressive heat of St. George in the summer... it's going to be a blast.
bbqplatypus
Wow...that.......that might have been the single greatest THING I have ever witnessed. No, wait - scratch the "might have been." That WAS the greatest thing I have ever witnessed.

If you haven't seen it, and there is a date scheduled anywhere within 250 miles of way you live, stop what you're doing RIGHT NOW. Go to Ticketmaster and pick up some tickets to see Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood. Just DO IT! If the concert is sold out, find someone who has bought some, KILL THEM, and steal their tickets. I'm certain that God would understand and forgive you for it.

I don't want to describe this concert for anyone for fear of spoiling things for you - there are lots awesome surprises in it, and regrettably, this forum has no spoiler tags. But, if you have absolutely no means of getting there (in which case I weep for you), I guess I'll review a couple aspects. However, I don't think I can do this concert justice with mere words.

EDIT: SPOILER ALERT! READ NO FURTHER!!!

Okay, so the concert started out great, with "Had to Cry Today." The rest of it was about the level of awesomeness I expected. Stevie played "Georgia on My Mind" solo on the organ - that was awesome. But to be honest, the highlight BY FAR was the version of Voodoo Child. Picture the song slowed down to a sizzling electric blues wail. Now, picture it stuffed with the greatest guitar solos you've ever heard in your life (with a few of the greatest piano and organ solos you've ever heard in your life, too). Put it together, you've got the greatest thing the human race has ever produced (yes, even better than the toilet and the Cadbury Egg).

I was considering beginning this post thusly:

Anyway, had a long day at work, as usual, came back home tired and in mood for nothing, as usual, had my sister who is here for just one more week convince me to go out to some Dali sketches expo... barely, as usual. It was just after the shower that I've noticed those gray hairs my colleague was talking to me about. They're a probable testament of 32 years laced with bitterness, despair and finally apathy. What's funny, I chuckled when I saw them and thought "yeah, buddy, this is it, it's all downhill from here".

Apart from that, everything is the same. Different [censored], same day.
