I am a sad paladin today, for it is my duty to inform you that the newly joined member MALX2, who has purported to be the return of our dear and missing mALX is an imposter. Half a dozen members, including some of our moderators grew suspicious of numerous small things. After consulting with our mod team, I sent this member a PM with some simple questions that only the real mALX would know the answers to. The member’s response made it clear they are not mALX. In fact, this imposter angrily confessed to misleading us for the purpose of becoming a moderator and using that authority to damage both our forum and its members.

I know that all of us fervently wanted this member to be our dear missing mALX. Because of the cruelness of this deception, it was necessary to take action against this member’s account. You will not be seeing further posts from MALX2.

It is clear that this imposter studied Chorrol and its members enough to cause significant anguish among mALX’s friends. Unfortunately, I cannot promise that this individual will not rejoin using a different name/account/IP and try to cause further mischief. Yet another reminder of the caution necessary in navigating the internet – even our cozy little Chorrol home.

I am posting this comment in both the Coffee Shop and Everything thread, since those are the two threads where 'MALX2' posted.

It is extremely unfortunate that this post had to be made and that everyone got their hopes up, if only briefly. For what it is worth, I'd hoped it was Malx, despite doubts from the very first post.

Doubts which, several of you shared proved to be true and Malx's return proved to be a fascade. Sorry guys.

This upsets me greatly. I really did she'd tears when I thought mALX was back. I was relieved and happy.

Now I am not, and will continue to wait for her return.

It is a testament both to the depths that we as people can sink too for little more then entertainment at others suffering, and the heights to which we as people in a community can love, support and know one another to levels that are more intuitive and immaterial.

I am displeased; GREATLY, at this individuals idea of a sick joke, but equally pleased to see how the best qualities of ourselves came out in a bad situation.

I don't think I am alone when I say: mALX; the *real* mALX, we still love you and support you and will wait until you are ready to return.

My self I feel like a jerk, I was very happy when I thought our squirrel had returned, sent nice PM and so on..gah...turned out to be a real bastarde...

Now I'm thinking very hard...we had some haters long ago..before most of the active ones now even had joined

This person intended to cause chaos and they did, although not nearly on the scale that they'd hoped. Obcessing over it and upsetting people was exactly what this guy was hoping for and he got it, doesn't matter who it is. This person is a disgraceful individual who tried to play on people's emotions that has been taken care of.

I had my suspicions too. I spoke to Liz about some things I personally found a little fishy, and I'm glad to know now that I wasn't the only one. I am even happier now that the situation has been dealt with thanks to Acadian and Kiln . . .

I'm very upset though that it isn't mALX. Here I thought our hopes would come back to us only to discover we've been lied and deceived. Thankfully the person responsible is gone. Hopefully IP banned, too. But as Acadian said it isn't impossible for the person to return to cause more trouble. One thing is for sure, we'll be ready. The fact that this person could've done so much damage if they became moderator is frightening. I can't imagine what would become of us.

As Kiln said, let us forget the issue, the person and move on. Whatever the person wanted, he got it but not to the degree he/she wanted. I for one, am pissed off about this. It means we're still waiting on mALX uncertain return and our emotions were toyed with.

How very disappointing. I wanted it to be true enough to overlook the weirdness. I appreciate the vigilance of members who are less gullible than me. While the idea of posing as our beloved squirrel while wielding an angry ban-hammer seems unlikely to succeed, a series of “So-and-so said that you suck” PMs from a trusted friend could have caused a lot of hurt feelings. Thankfully the impostor was exposed before they could use mALX’s good name for their mischief.

And I’m afraid that’s all the satisfaction that I’ll give them by discussing it.



In other news, I made a slight spectacle of myself yesterday. Yes I know, what a surprise. The Girl gave me a full bottle of nice scented lotion for no apparent reason. She got gift certificates for various occasions and had a major haul of beauty products. It’s not the kind of thing I buy for myself (I use grocery store lotion), so I was delighted.

After spending the afternoon running errands while congratulating myself over raising such a thoughtful, generous daughter I noticed that my exposed skin was giving off an unnatural glow. One might even say that I sparkled.

She gave me glitter lotion. I looked like a stripper. No, that’s overly optimistic. I looked like a stripper’s mom.

I think she’s still laughing about it. Sigh.

I’ll be away for a couple of days, but I’ll be back by the weekend. Tomorrow I get to fly on a jet that looks a lot like my car with wings stuck on it. It may have the same number of windows. My car actually carries one more passenger than the plane. Anyway, as long as it stays sunny it should be fun.

Of course I’ll check in here on my phone.
