Not at all, it's good to see some new life in here. I'm shocked that anyone new comes at all really. What with Oblivion being out for a while now.

I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds by saying "Welcome!"

Thank you! You may find a large influx of new members due to an odd choice of updated software on a certain other Elder Scrolls site. I am not sure, but it appears Tom at Myspace unloaded some outdated server software on them or something.

It is true a lot of time has passed, but I find the Elder Scrolls games never seem to lose their hold on you. I became even more addicted than ever this past year when I finally got it up on my PC. It is a whole new addiction in itself to be able to mod the game now, lol.

I'm hoping to do some modding myself, once I get my gaming laptop up and running again. It'll either be based on a fanfic I'm writing now, or just whatever else comes to my head. Just playing the game and messing around is good inspiration for writing and modding.

G...g...gaming laptop? (Drool) - Please describe in as explicit detail as possible! Hold back nothing!

My dream is a laptop that will play Fallout 3, because then I know it will play all the TES games. (so far)

Heh, well it's currently a hunk of slag right now. With a fried motherboard and missing video card, there's not much to speak of anymore. It barely qualifies as a paperweight.

Fallout 3 isn't anything to write home about. Sure, I enjoyed, but after a few hours you've pretty much seen it all. One can only watch so many exploding heads before it gets old. The game suffers from "Oblivion Syndrome", isn't so high on the roleplaying end of things, and is generally toned down on everything but technology when compared to the other Fallout games.

Bah, but don't listen to me too much. I'm pretty jaded with the current incarnation of Bethesda. They've really toned things down in terms of storyline and character immersiveness. It's hard to accept there'll never be a fantasy setting as complex, refreshing, belivable and just plain awesome as Morrowind again (at least from Bethesda anyway).

True...but my desktop PC won't play Fallout 3, so I was using it as a guideline. I actually did love playing Fallout 3 - especially with all the DLC. I didn't feel the quests were that interesting, but it had two moments that I have never experienced the like - the explosion of Raven Rock and crossing the bridge behind Liberty Prime - those two moments made the game for me. I actually on replay steered clear of the quests and just explored the wasteland looting, which was much more enjoyable. (that was my evil playthrough).

The battle for the BOS DLC was fun, but not nearly as epic as the bridge and Liberty Prime, and MZ was a blast! (My character is still stuck in the ship as I have yet to live through the final battle).

It was addicting to play, but not nearly as much as the TES games for me. I never got to play the earlier Fallouts though, so had no point of reference there.

It's not posted yet, I've only just started the outline for the main character. I wrote two page paper on his personal philosophy and I've started a short list of his views on various factions. I find that it helps most of all to get into the head of my character when I play a game as him, even if what I'm writing doesn't include his exact actions in game or could even happen in the game at all.

His name is Xivian Droath, a Dunmer political exile and soon-to-be vampire. His being a vampire will take a back seat to his political/spiritual aims, which could considered "Daedric", in that he's neither good, nor evil, but somewhere outside the normal views of morality. His aims are altruistic, but his methods are questionable. A reoccurring theme and question is whether his actions are truly beneficial to the public, or if he's just a self-deluded egomaniac.

Woo Hoo! Now that sounds like an interesting character!

Aw shucks, you flatter me. Once I clean up his personal philosophy paper a it (I wrote it at 5 AM this morning when I couldn't sleep. There's a few confused sentences and overused words in need of synonyms) I'll post it up here, if you're interested. I'm going to make this a personal project of mine outside of school.

I guess once one somebody starts up again and the ball gets rolling, people get inspired to do the same. That and after about eight years or so, Morrowind has officially reached nostalgia status, and that's bringing in old players in droves. I know it got me :]

I've been have some sleep and health issues lately compounded with cramming for my psychology midterm, so it's been slow going with the fanfic for the past few days. I'd like to express my thankfulness that I've received such positive anticipation for it so far, and you shan't be disappointed. My work load should be coming down within the next few days, and I'd be more than glad to get my work up then.

I'll also be reciprocating and reading some of our lovely forumites work as well. I love seeing people's TESfic, it's a setting that lends itself to fan supplementation. Anybody have any works in particular to suggest? I'm going to start at the top of the list and just read down, but I could skip around for recommendations.

Sorry to hear about the health issues - lack of sleep will compound health problems as well. My best wishes for your recovery.

I doubt you will have much time to read with mid-terms, lol. I have two fanfics on here, but if I was going to suggest one over the other it would be A New Sun Rises. (Unless you just love pirates, lol). The pirate story is just a light short story I was doing to get something out of my system.

The joys of exams... I have eight starting next week and running until the end of may. One has a fail rate over 50% which promises of be a bundle of fun (though taking course work into account and if I nail the others I could proably convince them to pass me if I get over 20% in it). Still I keep looking out the window and seeing sun which makes me want to fix up the bike and not sit inside reading about physics.

As far as fanfic to read, I think my favourites at the moment are Blood on the Moon (Treydog) which is as good as plenty published works and Old Habits Die Hard (Hautey). Most of what's up there is pretty good though, I look forward to seeing what you put up.

Anyway good to see people returning smile.gif (and yes Danny passes by now and then).

Thanks for the suggestions people, I'll be sure to check them out. The pressure has been going down around school and health. I feel confident about my midterms, and I was FINALLY able to schedule a doctor's appointment to get some health things fixed. Everything is moving ahead of schedule.

I've also decided to forgo playing the character in-game and just trying it entirely from hand. It'll be too long before my laptop is in working order, and I'm itching to get Xivian out of my head and onto paper. My knowledge of the game world and its lore is good enough that I don't think I should have much trouble just pulling it all out of memory.

Man, here I am worrying about just one test. That's pretty rough, Olen. I wish you best luck in only the way another nervous college student can!

4/23/10 Edit: I've started reading Blood on the Moon so far, and I'm rather liking it! Each of the posts are very easily digested in their bite sizes. I like the concept of the character being son of the Nerevarine, and the Imperial Legion recruiting poster had me cracking up. Bravo, Treydog, bravo!

Double edit: I've started work on my fan-fic! The first chapter should be posted up sometime today. For now though, I have to go take a test. Wish me luck!

@Intestinal rumblings: sorry to hear you've been battling health issues. Hopefully that visit to the doctor will start to set things straight for you! And good luck with your midterms! It's been over twenty years for me, but I still remember them all too well!

Aww, Olen, you liked my story that much? To be ranked up there with Treydog's Blood on the Moon makes me twirl!

In addition to those already recommended, I'd also recommend Interregnum (Destri Melarg) for its epic feel and take on ancient TES history. For pure Morrowind fun, I also like Memories of Rales Sarethi (Remko). I'm reading Olen's Burning Today, SubRosa's Teresa of the Faint Smile, and Fiach's Listen to the Sound of the Ashlands. There are other good ones as well, and I'm sure you'll find your own favorites.
treydog
Well, I was going to say it was a compliment to be ranking alongside Old Habits Die Hard.... And it is.

We have been gifted with many excellent writers and their creativity of late; I just wish I had more time to read- and to tell each of you how much I like and admire your stories.

The last couple of weeks have been stressful, and like Athlain, that tends to go to my stomach. Fortunately, I have not resorted to his form of a "cure." Although... it was my awareness that many stomach remedies contain opium that gave me the idea of his addiction...

Anyway, here is hoping for a more restful spring- with more time for reading!

Have a question to ask my readers. It is for my main story, and your 'votes' would affect whether or not I include a new character or not. I am posting here in the real life discussion thread for visibility. Normally I go with the 'its my story' curve, but Im completely stuck on whether to do it or not.

Basically I was inspired by the Gatanas Dremora Companion mod by Westly/Princess Stomper and it got me too thinking about a possible companion for Seth.

After visiting Myn Druhr, (No spoilers, but your looking for something in a daedric ruin, yeah, thats not vague.) Seth comes across a Daedric Seducer, not the Mazken from Shivering Isles, the ones from Daggerfall, that dress skimpy to lure prey in, then transform into batwinged she-demons from hell, much like my ex. Ba-Dum-Tish!

General battle ensues, and then as hes about to banish her, she begs for her life and offers to serve him for one hundred years in exchange for mercy.

Curious as to why, it seems she was sent to the mortal realm centuries ago for something and failed, and now if she goes back, shell be tortured for all of eternity, and then does some sort of Daedric Oath spell, or wears a command amulet or something, ill get that later.

She is named Penehipumon, or Pene for short, and her stats would basically be a winged twilight, complemented with ranged spells and the ability to shapeshift, within reason. The main idea is that she is the Raven on the arm mod when passive.

Pictured Here.

Tell me what you think!

treydog
@Blackhand- seems to me that it fits very well with Seth as he is... He tends to do things that (in D&D terms) tend toward the "chaotic."

" 'Why?' Because I felt like it."

And I think it will add some interesting possibilities to the story.
Olen
Yup I'm with Treydoy, it fits the character so it just boils down to whether you fancy writing it or not. Nice sig by the way.

And Trey, I empathise on the stomach, it can be rotten being stressed then having another thing on top which is just annoying. Hope things get better.

In my case it's probably more down to the vast quantities of black coffee and dreadful diet I manage to grab while in the midst of exams. It's nice to come by here for a few minutes between learning proofs (quite why I'm meant to know proofs of pure mathematical things I don't know, seeing as all the maths I do is very much applied, its like forcing a mechanic to learn about the alloy his spanner is made from). But I can always think of the coming summer...
treydog
My posting may be even slower than usual- the home comp just suffered a serious malfunction. I am hoping it is not so serious as to require a complete restoration- I have no idea where some of my application disks are anymore....

It could be the dreaded McAfee "false positive," which decides SVCHOST.EXE is a terrible trojan and deletes it. Or it could be an actual critter....

In any event, the system gets to the "click on your user name" screen, says "loading your settings," then says "saving your settings." Without ever getting all the way to the desktop.

Tried F8 to get into Safe Mode- it ignored it and went right on to loading Windows normally.

The good news- all of my story is saved on a USB drive- plus my handwritten manuscript. Of course, if I can't get the PC working, I won't be able to play Morrowind... Nope, nope, can't go there- I HAVE to be able to play....

No flooding for us in Sevier County, fortunately. Middle (Nashville) and west TN got hit hard, though.

Some progress on the computer front- I ran a repair install from the XP disk last night. Hit a weird BSOD error that stumped me for a while until I realized what the file name was telling me. Unplugged the USB wireless adapter and the repair install finished- just as I had to leave for work.

So- in about 7 hours, I will find out how bad things are. For all I know, it decided to do an overwrite instead of a repair...

I believe it is time to make good on a promise and buy a copy of Symantec Ghost- and learn how to use it.

Well, I still have all of the story on the jump drive and I can reinstall MW and the expansions if I have to. Fortunately, I was not using many mods- only the official plugins, theunofficial patch, and Better Bodies IIRC.

Until then, there is always Far Cry 2 on the xBox.

This thread that someone made for a mod intended for morrowind gives a pretty good rundown of the Daedra Seducer a la Daggerfall and Battlespire. NOT the Mazken from Shivering Isles.

Heres the .gif from Daggerfall.

Nice...ehh no thats not the right word...thrilling maybe. Go for it Blackie, let Seth meet his destiny in the shape of a Seducer....

Well my exams are finally done and I think I only failed one. It's not really a problem, I'm allowed to fail a course and have picked up enough marks already that it won't have any dire consequences, and I think it will manage it's usual 50-60% fail rate... again... Anyway the weather has suddenly turned brilliant so all is well again. It's amazing how much better two days of lying in the sun in the park drinking makes you feel.

I even got out on the bike again today... I'm feeling it now though.
Zalphon
Lying in the sun? Bah! I'm a vampire of the twenty-first century. The only place I'm ever truly at home at is in front of my computer or on my sofa.
Black Hand
AH-HAHAHAHAH!

That was my triumphant laugh of doom as I've moved out from a hellhole into a new place, where its just me and this here cat. Tigger, cuz hes an orange tabby and he loves to jump on my food that I leave out, HEY< THATS MINE!

Anyways. XBox 360 has backwards compatibility for Morrowind now, so Ill have to create a new character to go through Mournhold yet again, especially as I have forgotten most of Clockwork City and I needs the awesum descrip for my two readers that I have left.

So If im not postmachineing it up, that be why.

Otherwise I hope all is well with everyone here!

minque
Ahhh Blackie my dear! I'm so happy for you, it must be just great to live by yourself....and when a cat is around, it means he loves you...or maybe your food! hehe

I fully understand that you can't post-machine all the time....noone can...(I really shouldn't say anything, I haven't updated since....god knows!)

Still....I'm waiting for the next update...when you feel like posting it.

Talking about Cats, my cat is currently in hospital. He has not felt Ok the last couple of days so yesterday we decided to take him to the vet. He has an infection in his body, don't know from where he got it. However now he's a bit better, so I think we'll get him home again on sunday, fit and sound.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat Minque! I hope he gets better. <333

@ Blackie: I know the feeling! Just me and two cats! Of my current pair, the one thinks he is a Lab (i.e. vet speak for garbage hound) - always looking for something to eat. That is, when he isn't sleeping.

@Minque: I hope your kitty gets better, too! What kind of infection - bacterial? viral? Just curious!

Good deal, BH. Hope the new arrangements suit you.

Hope Bolzman makes a complete recovery, minque.

Speaking of kitties- we have been adopted by a new one. She was in the ditch out front of the house Tuesday evening and ran up to the porch when Mrs. Treydog got home. We fed and watered the little devil... which means we now have a cat.

She is a "marmalade"- yellow shading to white with a few tabby marks on her face and tail. She's about 5-6 months old and in relatively good shape- a little underweight, but healthy. We got her shots and FIV/leukemia tests. Once she puts on a couple of pounds, we will take her for "the operation."

I love that name!!!! By the way, Mrs. Treydog made an appearance in my story today, she is painting the Golden Armor.

"marmalade"

It looks like kitty has a name too!

Oh dear, it appears that I've sparked a love of cats.

Next thing you know Youtube links to cute kittens.

So I'll set it off, I guess.

Forgot how much I missed playing Morrowind on XBox. With the PC version I'm always just modding it, never really moving forward with the game or the quests. Had LGNPC for six months and I never really got to talk to anyone, there was always something new to DL.

But now I'm shanking foo's just for the crunch sound of a critical strike, and loving it. I also found that the droth dagger, just a slightly buffed up silver dagger (5-8 rather then 5-5) is like...perfect. Simple yet effective, and no annoying "out of charge" messages. Unless I enchant it that is.

Anyways, I got to the Clockwork city, so the story is updated, and this day off from work is declared a success. Tomorrow, I gotta go back though! NOOO!
minque
thank you all for your kind words!!! I really appreciated it!

Well Bolzmann is clearly better. He's home, and is now sleeping on a chair beside me. The infection was very unclear, the vets could not decide whether it was bacterial or viral...but they claim the treatment is the same(??). Well anyway, he got antibiotic shots at the hospital, prescription diet...which he still has to eat!..

I've been giving him antibiotic paste twice a day since sunday...firts time he liked the taste but not now, so I have to rub it in his face!! blink.gif Well sort of...around his mouth....then he licks it off!

Today he got two(!) fresh shrimps.....yay he was thrilled!

***************

So treydoggie....you got yourself a marmalade-kitty? Awww that is just awesome....but!!! What does the real Trey say about that??? hmmmm

Thank goodness Bolz is getting better! Hug_emoticon.gif

That is very good news. Glad the "master of the house" is feeling better.

Trey... well, he seems to be almost blind now, and I am not certain his nose is what it once was. He is aware that "something" is going on, but if it does not affect his food bowl or his bed- he is pretty oblivious. He has always gotten on well with cats- except for the black and white one- which he seemed to think was a squirrel in a tuxedo.

thanks minque for the update on your kitty! I'm glad to hear he's better and back home!

Careful with the seafood, though! Too much causes a vitamin E deficiency in cats and can lead to a very painful condition. Mix it with lots of boiled chicken or turkey (or just give him a well balanced formulated diet!). But I'm sure he appreciated the shrimp tremendously!

As for the real Treydoggie, I'm sure he doesn't mind as long as the new kitty doesn't hog the bed or food (as you said)! tongue.gif
