So this week I started practicing my driving. I drove on the highway for the first time yesterday and on the regular road today. I have some things to learn, but I am getting the hang of it.

The highway is what scares me the most even after driving for years. (That is probably why, I've seen too much happen on it, and always at fast speeds). URK !! I take backroads unless I'm going cross country.

Here’s a postcard from Grits World:

This morning The Boy leaped up mid-breakfast and dashed off. “I have to recharge my iPod,” he explained upon returning. “Last night after lights out hehe.gif I was watching a video about—it’s a physics thing. You wouldn’t understand.”

mellow.gif Really? Aren’t you supposed to be sneaking porn?

“And the guy was saying, We discovered the Higgs bo—and the power cut off.” He shook his fist at the sky. “Dammit! Somebody doesn’t want me to know about it!”

I think it's a red coffee cup kind of morning.

Tell Guy that's Higgs Boson not Bosom, lol.

Here's the vid the gods kept him from watching :

LL, good luck on the driving. Build some good habits and they will serve your well. smile.gif

McB, Only a stent. . . ohmy.gif . I’m so glad it did not take more than that to get things running smoothly again for your father-in-law.

Grits, your postcards are always a set-down-my-coffee and enjoy moment! happy.gif

I don't have a problem with any of the superstar/diva relationships, but this whole AJ thing is annoying the hell out of me! Whenever I here her theme in the middle of a match, I go get a cheese grater to numb the pain. And who wants to watch a pretty young woman play tonsil tennis with a mask wearing middle-aged man, a guy with more ink than skin and a bloke with a dodgy beard?

P.S - You think I should make a separate thread for pro-wrestling discussion?

A couple of days ago, I turned in notice at my part time job. I'm officially leaving the service industry (hopefully for good) and when the fall semester at the university starts, I'll be a teaching assistant! I'll be grading assignments for a professor, debugging starting student's programs, and assisting a graduate student run a lab!

Just being in Paris is really cool, lol. I hope she won't be driving in the city, the traffic in Paris is horrendous, especially those traffic circles! Congrats to her, sympathy for you being left alone and lonely. Long distance calls are outrageous without an international plan. Don't suppose you could traipse along or stowaway in her bags?

What's she going to be doing?

And you will of course have to find a way to visit her. That might involve some elaborate plans if you are short on funds. That would be so cool!

There was an audition in Leeds to become a Disney princess, and on a whim she went and got it!

She's Sleeping Beauty and Jessie from Toy Story, and she has to travel to all the disney worlds.

We were both going to uni in October so it was going to happen anyway, but still.

I've been absent for a while (again), so I have a lot to catch up on (and comment on over in the fan fics).

First off, let me send up congrats to all who deserve it, and condolences to all who need it.

I've been busy with my MBA classes as well as my part-time job. It's been going well on both those fronts.

My health, however, hasn't been doing so well. I've been dealing with a chronic cough for years. Mostly it's just a lingering cough that hangs around for weeks after I recover from a cold. But it's become more persistent this year, and other things came up - shortness of breath, a feeling of tightness in my chest when I try to take deep breaths (and no, my bra's not too tight wink.gif ), and getting sick for no reason (no one around me is sick, as is typical with colds and flus). When I got sick about six weeks ago, it really began to affect my job as well as other things. I coughed when I talked, I coughed when I climbed half a flight of stairs (and I used to run up a full flight), hell, I even coughed when I just turned over in my sleep! I started getting stabbing pains low in my right ribs when I breathed (likely pulled intercostal muscle from coughing so damn much).

So I finally schlep off to the doctor. She initially suspects asthma and starts me on three different medications. The tight feeling and shortness of breath as well as the pain improved right away, but the cough took a little while to improve. At my two-week followup, she wasn't happy with the progress I was making (though I was!), so sent me for a lung function test and chest radiographs. The first was essentially normal, the second showed radiographic changes consistent with pneumonia, so I went on antibiotics while continuing the one inhaler and the pill for the asthma (more for allergies and anti-inflammatory effect than real asthma). Coughing improved dramatically at that point, but on follow up radiographs there are two spots on my lungs that the radiologist suspects may be cancer. So off I went for a CT scan yesterday. Results are pending.

I doubt it is cancer - I don't smoke (well, except for two puffs on my dad's pipe when I was three years old). I am much more suspicious of fungal infection that has become walled off (though TB is also a possibility). I know I've been exposed to some nasty mold in the past, so my gut feeling says that's the problem. However, we all know the saying, doctors make their own worst patients, so . . .

I probably will be going to a pulmonologist in the near future, so I don't know what will happen next. Hopefully this will get resolved soon and I can get back to Old Habits Die Hard.
mALX
Sorry to hear you are sick. The first thing I thought of was either mold or mildew just from the progression as you described it. I hope you get feeling better and it turns out to be nothing serious or expensive !!!
McBadgere
I was wondering where ye'd been off to...

That's just nasty... sad.gif ...

I occaisionally have trouble with me hayfever...(Yeees, the crushing irony of a farmer with chronic hayfever....)...So I can imagine that you're not having the most fun... kvleft.gif ...

Get well soon...
Grits
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been ill, haute. Hopefully it will be something that’s easy to diagnose and resolve. A walled-off past infection sounds good to me, the important word being “past.” Here's hoping you get excellent news very soon!
Acadian
Yikes, Rider! Thanks for the update so we could change our worrying from wondering what happened to you to hoping you get well now! Warmest wishes for a speedy recovery.
King Coin
Sounds scary HER!Glad it has improved with the other treatments and here's hoping those other spots can be wiped away!
treydog
Bless you haute! So sorry to hear of your ailment- but pleased that it is responding to treatment. Recommend tea and good reading for therapy. A kitty or two would not be amiss either....

Here's hoping for a speedy and complete recovery.
Grits
So tonight we celebrated The Boy’s homecoming (3 week summer study away) and his birthday. Here you go: C A K E

Toward the end of the festivities a storm struck, and I mean hard. The Girl ran upstairs to rescue her electronics and construct a visual barrier around Flower the Fish’s bowl so he wouldn’t be afraid. Of drowning in the rain? Who knows. Then we turned out the lights and watched to see if any trees would fall. We could see because of the continuous lightning. The street flooded (not serious), and the birdfeeder pole tipped over. (That was a surprise. It was anchored waaaay down in the ground because the deer lean on it.) Oh, and there was a lot of hail.

At one point we had all wandered to the back of the house because there is this one pine tree that really looked like it was going to go. Mr. Grits turned around to look back out the front windows. During a break in the thunder, he quietly said, “There’s someone standing in our driveway.”

blink.gif

There wasn’t, but I still have goosebumps.

Also at one point we realized that Captain Bobo had joined us. At 9 o’clock he should still be deeply asleep in his tea box under piles of shredded tissue. But instead he was on his hamster wheel, running for his very life.

We watched him for a bit. (Still a lot of lightning.) Every once in a while he would poke his head out of the wheel and look around as if to say, “F--, I’m still here?!” and then he would resume his mad dash. Poor little guy. He’s still running.

King Coin
Yikes Grits! To be honest though, I wouldn't mind a storm like that. Where I am, we're in a drought. Grass is all brown and it's been weeks since I've heard the drone of a lawn mower anywhere. Some of the farmers have plowed their crops under already, not worth harvesting anything.

Poor Captain Bobo though! laugh.gif
mALX
HOLY COW! What a delicious looking cake! Did I tell you I just came home from study camp? (insert address to send cake to).

And I always wondered what Acadian's "Captain BoBo" looked like ... I did picture him being small, just not THAT small !!

Thank you for sharing that with us, now I will drool till I get some sugar, ROFL !!! I'll bet you are glad he is home though, and SO glad you all made it safe through that storm!
Acadian
Bobo run for life. Very fast. Bobo tired and confused but make no progress!
McBadgere
Wow...That's a hell of a storm... blink.gif ...

And KC, I have much sympathy with the farmers...That must be heartbreaking...We here had been waiting for a break in the rain in order to harvest the grass for winter (silage)...We finished this last round yesterday...Sooo tired...

Aaamywho...So many of the crops in the UK have been ruined by too much rain this year...Luckily, we're just the other side of a fair sized pile of rocks called the Clwydian range, and these tend to act as a sponge for the absolute worst of the weather, so we sometimes get it better here than other places...

On the flip-side of that, those mountains make it so we can also see mega thunder storms heading for the coast to the west or headed up the valley towards Chester eastwards and yet I can look up into clear blue skies... sad.gif ...We haven't had a decent storm for ages...

Bless the Bobo!!! Awww!!!...

I had a pretty good weekend. Went paintballing on Saturday morning to early afternoon. I got shot a lot but that's part of the fun. I am still very sore from all the running and crouching behind cover. It was well over 90F and humid, so I got home sweaty, muddy, and sticky from the paint. I've got three welts that are just now fading.

Then I bought a new road bike and just took it for a ride an hour ago. It flies!
Illydoor
I've been biking lately as well KC

Cycling home from the gym to catch the 100m final today, ran over a barbecue sauce packet near McDonalds.

Absolutely exploded, looked like I'd been shot in the leg.

Stunk as well.

King Coin
LOL! I'll be sure to avoid any packets. It is a lot of fun though, I plan on using the bike for my commute to school when the semester starts rather than trying to find a parking spot on campus.

Afert 8 months of searching for a job with no success, I finally had an interview scheduled a few weeks ago. It didn't work out because the manager didn't even show up when he promised he would be there all day. Talk about incopetence! And it was a half hour drive!

Anyways, to top that sour mood with a better one, I finally have two jobs interviews set up this week!

I hope I get one of them! I can finally pay some of the rent, fix my PS3 and replay some Skyrim, focus more on my body and achieve some great abs to flaunt when I go(if I go) back to Brazil in December.
mALX
Lol, flaunt pecs, not abs. Good luck on your job interviews! Er...if they hire you, will they let you go to Brazil?
King Coin
Yes, good luck with the interviews.
Saquira
Darkness Eternal, good luck with the job interviews!

I just returned home today, and though it was good to visit grandma and everyone else I'll be very happy to sleep in my own bed again. As well as being able to access my files. See, about an hour out of Stockholm I remembered that I'd forgotten my usb in my computer, so I haven't done much work on Ekali's story I'm afraid. I've been working on Sorcalin's though and will probably post something soon.

It's actually really good for getting ideas, restricting yourself to only writing on paper. And it's also very hard to get distracted by youtube and stuff like that.

Anyways, we began the trip with a visit to Nordens ark, a zoo that specializes in endangered species. The first day we got to see their maned wolves and their pups being fed, I filmed quite a bit of it and will try to upload it to youtube when I figure out how to do that. The second day the snow leopards were very active, even playing with each other at one point. However, my battery died before that so I couldn't tape it. But I got a lot of great pictures with dads camera. And then we saw the amur tigers eating. We saw lots of other animals as well, but those were the most memorable.

I hope everyone are okay, and if you aren't I hope you'll get better soon!
King Coin
Welcome back! It sounds like you had a very nice visit.

I've done that with the USB, I've started using Dropbox for small files such as documents that I want to be able to access anywhere.

Thanks for posting the pictures, the snow leopards are especially gorgeous. biggrin.gif
mALX
Loved the pics, especially the snow leopard! Awesome shots, thanks for sharing those Saquira!

*Waves*...Glad you had a good time...

Popped in to say "hello" for nostalgia sake. I was reinstalling Morrowind and it reminded me of this forum I used to frequent. It looks like there's a lot of new faces. I can't say I spent more time on any one forum as much as I did this one, it and the folks on it hold many fond memories.

Welcome back! There was a pretty big influx of new blood here right about the time you unplugged (spring of 2010) caused largely by a big format change over on the BethSoft forums that upset many of us fanfic writers there. Many of the 2005-6 chorrol crowd are still here, just a bit less visible.

I saw your thread seeking an old MW mod. Sorry can't help. Have you tried the MW modding subforum at BethSoft? Good luck. I know it is frustrating when you can't find a mod you know and want!
