Ok...non-sequiter from cat names....sometimes my mind gets silly on Photoshop. McBadgere is a really cool guy. But I have always had a habit of likely pronouncing his name incorrectly in my head. My brain processes it as "McBadger", like the animal with a mick in front of it. So, back to the Photoshop thing...I made what could be McBadgere's new forum avatar...here.

I don't want to argue with anyone, as each is entitled to their opinion. That being said, I am a cat man. I have two. I don't have to walk them, I don't have to bathe them, they don't chew things, they don't slobber, and they don't take up half the bed at night. Very low maintenance for the amount of love and affection they return.

I have been owned by dogs and by cats.

I have had cats that-

slobbered

destroyed the furniture

required CONSTANT "coat maintenance"

decided that my pillow- shoes- other "handy container" made a DANDY litter box

hog the bed- (Yes Rico- I AM looking at YOU)

And yes- my avatar IS a dog- what's your point?

(Truth in snarkiness here- I have lived with wonderful cats and objectionable dogs- and the reverse also. A major determinant of the quality of the relationship depends on the human involved in it).

I've got both dogs and cats, and each have their merits and detriments. I agree with Blackie on this:

I honestly couldn't choose either just a dog or a cat. I've had both and adore them both.

I have a theory that the longer you're a member of a this forum, the more awesome you become. The level of awesome is directly proportional to the length of your tenure. Therefore you're only slightly less awesome than myself, which is still impressively awesome.

This theory has yet to be proven without a doubt but I for one, strongly believe that it is soundly rooted in fact.

Wow! I didn't see anyone not accept the opinion. After all, one need not agree with an opinion to accept it. And the post invited arguement...

(Makes note to self to go back to doing nothing but "How beautiful the spring flowers are- this is the anniversary of my dad's death- otherwise completely noncontroversial" posts.)

I will also note that what I said in the (I believed) lighthearted discussion was simply my skewed take and not in any way designed to belittle or ridicule anyone.

We now return to the fact that on June 25, twenty years ago, I lost my father. And yes- it gets easier to deal with. Also yes- it still hurts and June can be a depressing month for me. However, the day lillies are quite lovely.

25 years is a long time...a touch less than half my life...but it's never too late to say I'm sorry for your loss. It's good to hear that this somber day is easier to deal with 25 years later.

Personally I love both...I have no preference...

I have more affection for the farm dog than I do for my own brother, and it used to be a standing joke that the cat we used to have had decided she was my wife...So much so that when we were first together McWifey used to actually feel jealous when Cat sat on my knee!!...Well, she's a bit odd like that...But still... ...
