Urgh, is this the new place you all moved to (to get away from that other neighbor that wouldn't let you build a driveway?) Grrr, if the deal is made, it is made - she can't go back and try to change it now; can she? Urk, I'm so sorry, Mirocu!

I am guessing the family can't agree to keep ownership as it stands and just allow that cousin use of it as she likes? I mean, as long as the trade was fair and equitable on both sides and neither side has any cause to feel "taken advantage of," why is she demanding more?

My dad and my aunt had an agreement and all was fair, but it wasn´t enough land for my cousin (who doesn´t even own anything yet).

She always wanted more land than my dad and his sister agreed to. Apparently she wants to build a lot and bring people there. My cousin is calling the shots at their end, not my aunt. What´s even worse they don´t even keep an open dialogue with my dad wacko.gif

At this point, with everything around us, a move to another cottage would feel like a relief.

It doesn´t feel too bad though, I gotta be honest. We´ve played with the idea of getting something else for quite some time. However, actually selling it and moving on is something else but we´ll see how it goes. We are ready to do it though as things have gotten way too far, and who knows what can happen in the future? Both our neighbours can basically do anything and whatever they do, it´s gonna be bad news for us since we´re so close to them.

I look forward to returning here in a week and catching up with the TES antics of our wonderful little chorrol community. happy.gif

So this story is going to require some background- which will unfortunately take away from the humor... but so it goes.

Earlier this year, Mrs. Treydog (she of the bionic knee) had a couple of falls on the steps into the garage and leading to the front porch. She is okay, but we decided it was time to have someone come in and build some ramps. This we did and they are a great success, especially the one in the garage, which the Three Kittehs (plus Mom) treat as a Feline BMX course, complete with handrails, perfectly proportioned for perching...

The other bit of background concerns the grey and white stray we took in a couple of years prior. He is the most... vocal... cat I have ever known. This is especially true when he thinks Mrs. Treydog has left the house and he suffers from separation anxiety...

Fix these items in mind to set the scene for around 10 o'clock on night earlier this week. Mrs. has gone to bed, an event which Rico Kitty apparently missed. So he begins to give a perfect auditory definition of the term "caterwaul."

This intrigues the garage contingent, which crowd onto the handrail near the kitchen door the better to listen... and incidentally, press the doorbell.

At which point we have Concerto for Doorbell and One Voice:

Treydog - musical cats! Wow, isn't medicine amazing? I didn't realize they made Rabbit replacement knees! tongue.gif

All - Thanks so much for the kind wishes regarding my pilgrimage. I'm back from a tiring but good trip. . . only to find a Tasmanian devil two-year old granddaughter in the house, along with her mother and cocker spaniel that my son dropped off with poor Mrs Acadian for a week while he starts a new engineering assignment and finds suitable quarters for his family in a new town. Mrs Acadian is stressing (us being spoiled empty nesters with a decidedly not child-proof house). So it will be a distracting few days before I can really reclaim my peaceful little rockpile here in the desert. Thanks once again for the show of support for tough old Acadian Sr who, at least for now, is doing pretty well.

This is the third bear in town sighting in Sevierville in the past month; one was climbing up the outer wall of a condo building and checking the porches for food:

Winter seems to be coming early this year, and the food supply was extremely low this year for them. They are getting desperate for food to survive the winter on.

Happy Thanksgiving Chorrol!

Today's menu at Casa Treydog-

Chicken and rice a la slow cooker (because Mrs. Treydog didn't want to messa about with turkey- and that's OK with me)

Mashed potatoes- with melted cheese

Cornbread dressing

Cherry Jell-O salad- because it's a classic and really easy to make- even a dachshund can manage it!

Hope everyone has a most wonderful day. And I give thanks for each and every one of you. Stay safe, be happy, be the wonderful folks you have all been for all these years.

Happy Turkey-Day! biggrin.gif

As for me, I'll eat t-day lunch with my brother at a local all-you-can-eat buffet. We are the last surviving members of our immediate family. Neither of us cares a whit about cooking for ourselves beyond what can be heated in a microwave. Too, I have pretty much but not totally severed ties with 'decadent' food and drink. This will be the one time of the year I eat mashed potatoes, dressing, and cranberry sauce . . . unless we opt to dine at the same establishment X-mas day. (We sometimes eat our X-mas meal at a Chinese buffet. That's my preference, but I always defer to my brother in this regard.) Just water to drink for me thanks, whatever we go, and not only because I'm cheap. If it's not water or shim-milk I don't drink it. That's my motto. One thing for sure, I'll overeat. Thankfully, doing so will trigger no irresistible cravings for more of the same.

We'll go our separate ways immediately afterward. I've no other plans except to goof around on the web as I always do, and maybe watch my avatar continue his patrol of the Green if my health holds out.
Acadian
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Even though it is a 'Merican holiday, best wishes also to those who hail from across the oceans and, in some cases, even the equator. I am reminded how thankful I am for all my fellow chorrolites! happy.gif

I baked a frozen pumpkin pie yesterday and Mrs Acadian made a big pot of chicken soup. So we're set for a nice quiet day at home with a cozy fire in the fireplace.
Grits
With teenagers still living at home we had the full-on turkey feast. It looks like a Thanksgiving bomb went off in my kitchen. Most of the stuff is on the clean side of the sink now, so the wine portion of my day is within sight. tongue.gif

After dinner I took a break to join the family outside where they were shooting arrows at a target. Thanksgiving must bring out the not-pilgrim part of their heritage. It looked easy so I asked to try. I hit the center, but I also punched myself right in the nose. Grits is not ready for the Tournament of Archers! laugh.gif

I did. A full salad bowl with all the fixins and yummy thousand island dressing. (I wish I could find bottled thousand isle in stores that tastes as good as that.) Both light and dark turkey meat. (The dark was quite tasty, the light somewhat bland but okay.) A too big scoop of suitably thick mashed potatoes topped with a bit of thick brown gravy. Rather bland dressing. Your average restaurant cranberry sauce. Surprisingly tasty green beans. A very good small bowl of broccoli / cheese soup. (Possibly my favorite disk of the meal.) Water. (Tasted like water.) A tasteless roll, as most seem to be at restaurants these days. No dessert of any sort. (I went cold turkey on traditional sweets years ago, a practice I have stuck to with religious zeal ever since. For what its worth my brother also forwent dessert, though in his case he simply didn't much care for any of the restaurants numerous sweet offerings.)

My bro and I went our separate ways immediately after the meal. Turns out we have BOTH been feeling poorly for some time, with a few overlapping symptoms. He confessed that he had contemplated canceling our holiday lunch get-together but felt just recovered enough to go through with it. I confessed the same, though in my case it's not so much being recovered as having one of my better days, with symptoms ignorably mild.

Due to the heavy lunch, supper consisted of a whole Fuji apple and a small glass of Skim Milk, along with my evening migraine preventative dosage and evening medicated inhaler treatment.
