I had a totally surreal experience today. I'm mid-thirty and I've been out of school for 16 years. But today, I went back to my old school where I spent nine years slaving away at the chalkboard. I went there to take a last tour around, because they're going to wreck it as they're building a new building for the school in the neighborhood.

It was so surreal because virtually nothing changed. If I'd remembered a gum I'd stuck somewhere under a table, I could probably have recovered it today. It was a real blast from the past, and I've taken many pictures. Wasn't the only one either, some other people also frantically photographed everything.

I know just how that is, stargelman. When I come back to where I went to school it´s the same deal

Thanks Grits, Acadian, Lizzy, King and Mirocu. Sorry for the late response. Its good to be back in Brazil. I'll start by saying the weather here is hot. Very very hot that even the locals are complaining. There is no air conditioning so we use fans or walk around shirtless.

Acadian, I'm here to help out the family in a construction business that's going on.

Mirocu, no beaches where I'm at. I'm in the mainland.

King Coin, I could tell you but it would take awhile. Okay, so my house needs to be cleaned. At night it looks like a dark fortress with the moonlight illuminating the long hallway through the cell windows. There's a weird black stray dog with a bloody eye stalking around the property, too. He's hungry. Buts its great.

The food is fantastic. I had the biggest burgers ever. But my regular meals are rice, beans, tomatoes, fish, chicken, beef. I'm going to study to take my licenses here, then I'm joining a Muay Thai class who's teacher is notorious for kicking his students butts. He's known in the city as "O Negao." Which translates to the "The Big Black One." Totally made me eager to go and join. They also teach Jiu Jitsu there, too.

Sounds like you are enjoying it there. The house sounds like its kind of cool. The food sounds great!

DE, great that you're settling in there and thanks for checking in. I envy your weather; much of the US is freezing now. Even the wonderful desert southwest is cursing my outdoor fountain with a layer of ice in the mornings! Take good care of you, sounds like you're eating well. Hmm, getting your butt kicked in martial arts. . . sounds like fun (not). Oh, and I hope you continue to have time to write, post and play here!

I agree. Arkansas is an icy tundra right now. There is ice covering everything and on top of that is 6 inches of snow. Even several of the main roads around here have been labeled "impassable" by the highway department.

So, first off...Plant a new hedge...

Now I, right, could see the downside of this plan straight off...Thinking, I'm gonna have to do waaaay more work than I should be...This is not my fight etc...

So we go measure it up...And it's around 900 meters of hedge altogether...

All of this new planted hedge stuff needs "Mulch mats" to protect them from weeds and overgrowth of grass...Plastic sheeting...Strips of it...11m long and 1.5 wide...All of which needs the edge of it digging into the ground...

It's not exactly hard...Press edge of spade thing an inch from the edge and press/cut into ground...But each one is *Does maths*...25meters of sheeting to tuck in...

My knees are killing me...And we're only halfway through...

Urgh...*Throws hands up in disgust*...

Nope...It's just me, him and my ineffectual and off-today brother...Ne'ermind, nearly the weekend...At least he's not trying to treat it as some emergency and trying to get me in to work then too...

After the hedge (I should have pointed out, but I was in a rush, damned fool, that that's not one long continuous 900 meters, it's three sections that add up to 900 metres btw...I'm not just going in a straight line a kilometre away from the farm ) anyways, after the hedge comes the trees...When I will have the joy of digging in, several hundred or more mats!!!...Yay!!!...These only 1m x 1m though, which will protect the trees from weeds/gress etc...And then we put the plastic protectorates around them...Oh, it's all good fun...And then comes the bluebells; the shrubberies...Oh, the joy never ends...Oh yeah...

But that'll be after Christmas now...
