OK- may be possible to fix it yourself. Is it a white plastic 4-pin connector? If so, there SHOULD be spares from the power supply- just look for some bundled up and tucked away. If you find one that is not hooked to anything- just use that free one.

If it is a narrow, flat connector that goes to the system board (data cable), the whole cable can be replaced. If it is the wider flat cable that goes to the power supply (power cable), see above- find a free power connector and switch it.

Just before Christmas, Mrs. Treydog's hard drive started to do a "death rattle" and the PC would not boot. Fortunately, I had made a drive image. Unfortunately- it was from 2 years ago. Ultimately, I was able to restore the image to a new drive AND recover all the newer files.

Good luck with PC woes, mALX and seconded on 2013 being a better year!

It has a red cable down the center plugged in with a connector that looks like an Ethernet (sort of), and two little (under or right at an inch wide) flat connectors on either side of that that plug directly into it. Well, technically it only had one of those plugged into it, but another one was hanging around nearby so I stuck it in. The hard drive still goes in and out, must be a loose wire somewhere in one of those connectors, but the power supply stays on even when the hard drive goes out.

I'm just really glad I was able to save my documents folder, but would love to save my mods and vids too.

So, today I revived my Playstation 3 system from the Yellow Light of Death. Funny thing is I took it to repair and after two weeks of waiting, the repair guys said they couldn't fix it. I fixed it myself in twenty minutes by using a hair dryer. I got my game out and I'm just waiting for my step-dad to stop watching tv so I can transfer my game data into a USB device and then transfer them to a new PS3 next week!

My puppy Boo Boo has a chipped shoulder blade and stessed tendons in that leg. She has to lay down quietly and be walked outside for the next week, plus take analgesics.

So how the heck does a puppy chip the hind side of their shoulder blade? She had to be running outrageously fast and turned just before hitting something really solid.

This vicinity is all farms, but she was in our 'dog yard' with only the other two dogs. It is an acre fenced just for them to run in. They do collide, but it is really hard to imagine one hitting her hard enough to chip her shoulder blade like that and not be injured themselves. Neither of the others showed any signs of injury.

I think she probably hit a tree at full speed. Really hard to imagine a shoulder blade getting chipped, they are solid bone!

Thanks for the well wishes for her. She was a bit clingy today, doesn't like not being able to get out with her other two doggie friends Jax and Dixie.

Does anyone know any home remedies to help fall asleep faster if you have insomnia? I've tried teas and all that stuff and it doesn't work for me. I really don't want to resort to taking pills to fall asleep at night, but I'm tired. Last night I only got 3 hours of sleep.

Tea has caffiene in it, that will keep you awake. A good strenuous exercise outdoors followed by a hot shower can relax you, exercise releases endorphins in your brain (make you feel good/happy/relaxed).

Eat something filling: Mac and cheese, pizza. A meal of turkey or chicken with mashed pototoes and gravy (not one you cooked yourself, try KFC) makes you drowsy.

Also, reading in bed helps. (a real book, not a Kindle that has an LCD screen).

Insomnia is caused by tension. When you get stressed, it releases adrenalin into your system, and that makes you feel hyper. Whatever is stressing you - if you can't resolve it, then find some way not to think about it when you are trying to sleep.

Maybe it's because I'm hyperactive. The other night my heart started beating so fast I felt like it may burst out if my chest, and I even considered going to the hospital. I can't sit still for more than 20 minutes, and I have concentration problems(always have)

ADHD - yes, I know it well. Working in an office I have to use a earphones to block out all the juicy conversations and gossip around me or I can't concentrate on my work. I get triple the workload with them on, but miss out on who is zooming who in the office and whose husband is cheating on them.

If I don't wear the headset I'll eavesdrop and ulitimately join in the conversation - usually end up with under half the work I could be cranking out.

Everyone gets used to seeing me with the headset on and assumes I can't hear them, so gathers near my desk to carry on. If I see them there, the temptation is too great sometimes to turn off the music and listen in. If it is exceptionally interesting, I'll lean over the top of my partition bug eyed. "What? GAAAAH!"

Have you tried meditation? If so, have you tried it more than 15 seconds? I ask because my hubby has ADHD and yeesh... I've learned to keep my explanations to under 10 seconds lol

I've tried meditation before. I used to do it every day, but it never really worked. sad.gif

If you are worried about your heart, def go to the doctor. If you don't mind taking natural supplements, Melatonin is a natural relaxer.

Im not worried, IM TERRIFIED. I already made an appointment. I'm sure my heart isnt supposed to beat fast to the point where it feels like its going to burst out of my chest, and even right now it's beating a bit fast. I fear panicking could cause a heart-attack, so I'm really scared right now sad.gif

Shh, calm down, kiddo. Breathe deeply and slowly. In through your nose, out through your mouth. I used to have panic attacks every day until I started meditating. You'll be okay. Concentrate on your slow breathing and focus on that until you calm down. Lie down if you have to.

Panicking can NOT cause a heart attack, it just makes you feel like you are having one (but you aren't). Most panic attacks do cause the person to worry they are in danger of dying, which makes the panic worse.

My husband has that heart racing thing at times, he has high blood pressure (which you may have too), and a benign arrhythmia - benign means it can't kill you, but every time it happens he freaks out just like you are doing.

It is scary when that happens, but a doctor can tell you what is causing yours. Let the doctor check it out and see what is causing it for your own peace of mind.
