And I'm going to work out more. I miss my punching bag so much. I can still pack a decent punch, but what good is that if you can't catch anyone??
VENGEANCE.
No, you will not.
Look Liz we all love you here, so I guess it's left to me to tell you not to be an idiot. If you want to get in shape for your own benefit then please, by all means, go to the gym, hit the bag or lift a Hyundai. I know that I will be rooting for you.
But if it is your intention to use your new-found fitness to chase would be shoplifters down the street like
The Fist of Goodness then please, sit down, drink a glass of water and repeat your
mantra until the feeling subsides. You are far too important to your son to risk your health over a g**d**m tv tray!
Playing the hero for a company whose 'upgraded cameras' still can't catch a sharp image of a shoplifter is just a losing proposition, if you ask me. Especially when you consider that if, heaven forbid, something were to happen to you after you had chased the perpetrator for five blocks your store would argue that they don’t owe you anything because your injuries weren’t sustained
in the store!
Shhh.
I've calmed down. Sometimes I need to rant and rave. I'll still be working out, but it will be for self-defense, not chasing shoplifters. As much as I kinda-sorta like this company, I'm not going to risk my life, as you said, over a TV tray.
I take theft very personally. Over the course of my life I've had a LOT of things stolen from me from "friends" and "family, and I can do something about THEM, but it angers me when I can't do something about some random guy running down the sidewalk.
I've been at that store for a year, and almost everyone knows my husband and I have an almost 3 year old and are struggling to make ends meet. I've had to toss out people whom were caught stealing, who threatened me, and tried trashing the store. Every single one of them looked me in the eye and asked me how my son was doing, and how terrible it was that the store won't pay me more. Well, sirs and madams, they can't afford to because of how many people steal. And that angers me. I don't come into their homes, pick up something from it, and leave with it. Nope. And this place is my second home. I never took it personally when someone stole from walmart. The place I work now? I helped put it together. I put in the shelves, the merchandise, the registers, almost every single bit of that place was touched my by hands before anyone elses's. Out of 15 people that started there, I am the only one who's still there.
So, I'm going to take it a tad personal when someone steals from work. And I know that's not a good thing to do. It just disappoints me that people can look you in the eye, smile at you, and hide the watch in their pocket.
To reiterate how much shrinkage there is at my store, there was over $48,000 MISSING in merchandise when inventory came. That means people steal over $131 in merchandise a DAY at a DOLLAR STORE. To y'all, that might not seem like a lot, but to me, that's $131 that could go towards funding the raise they can't afford for me because people steal too much. That's $131 LESS of food for my son.
Wow, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to...okay. i'm going to stop channeling my anger here and just go write.
