So today dawned bright and sunny. And yep, I was up to see it. Doctor's appointment, remember? So ten minutes before I leave the house, she calls. She's sick with the flu and canceling all her appointments for today. So I rescheduled it for March. Yay!

Though with my luck, we'll get one more blizzard March 1st . . . rolleyes.gif

PS - sorry about the 'Hawks, mALX. That's why I never watch sports. We live in Cubs country, here, you know. Kind of colors your perception of all things sports.

Rider, glad your appointment got rescheduled. I'm sure the Nordic mirocu is right about 4WD for where he lives, but I think you are exactly right to tackle your great lakes urban winters with simply front wheel drive and plenty of prudence.

Stargelman, Eeep! I imagine the deer didn't survive, but I hope you and the car are okay.

It did in fact not. Miraculously, the car wasn't even scratched. I got a mild shock from the experience, but the owner of the car, sitting on the back seat, was so drunk he didn't even remember any of it despite us standing on the road for 45 minutes waiting for the police and all. Didn't even believe it happened until he saw the police report!
mirocu
I hope the driver wasnīt in the same state as the owner...

Kidding, mr Stargel! I donīt think that of you smile.gif Thankfully the car didnīt get damaged and none of you guys were hurt. A shock can be bad enough, though.

URK! Deer can do some unbelievably bad damage to cars, surprisingly for their dainty appearance. I hope your Father-in-Law and you were on good terms to smooth the damages over in the aftermath; but mostly just hope you and yours are well after such an incident!!!!

** Edit:

WHEW! Read your next post, glad to hear all worked out well. What a shock to your system something like that is though, unexpected = traumatic many times.

Jacki Dice
My dad drives 18 wheelers. He hit a deer once. I could not believe the amount of damage a teensy little deer did to a truck.
Kiln
My buddy hit a deer once and it literally left an imprint of the deer in the hood. Afterwards the deer ran off but I doubt it survived. The car was more or less totaled after.
mALX

Yeah, Starge - if I were you, I would take your Father-in-Law's vehicle to a local dealer for that make of car - have the engine mounts and radiater checked. Amazing there was no damage!

stargelman
I have to add it was a roe deer, so rather smallish. I found it in the fields afterwards, dead as a dodo. And yeah, I practically forced him to take it in for inspection. He didn't want to do it because he didn't see any damage, apart for some small plastic part that got loose.

Heh, my puppy ran off on me the other day when he saw a local puppy running around. The first time he saw him they stared at each other. I left the gate open for one second while someone was talking on the outside and next thing I know he's out there running.

He plays with the two other puppies, one is a stray and the other is our neighbors called Mel. She looks just like mine, except smaller. I have a creeping feeling she's his sister because I found my puppy abandoned after the neighbors that moved left him. I'm positive thy have away their puppies to the other neighbors.

Anyways I was hesitant to let him play burin thought what the hell. When I retu at night around 11:30 he was here at home. He found a hole in fence and he gets through to play out in the empty land in front of us. I sealed off the hole a few days ago to lock him in here but he looked so sad and miserable. So... I led him outside this morning to play with the kids. He looked so happy. I'll post a pic later...

That means I'll have to keep washing him for ticks and fleas...

Glad you took it in anyway though, best to be on the safe side. So glad no one was hurt. As for its size meaning it won't do much damage, I saw this helicopter downed by a bird just a couple days ago:

I'd say that bird was a lot smaller than the deer - you must have an angel that watches out for you!

Although I have loved our place in the woods itīs pretty safe to say I will not become its new master when dear dad doesnīt have the strength anymore. Simple reason; our neighbour.

If it was just them it wouldnīt be that much of an issue (hmm...), but itīs the fact they bring so many people there all the time and start so many machines and it just goes on and on and on. Itīs an industry now, pure and simple, and both my dad and I are so sick of it. I like having a place to go to and I will help my dad as long as he wants to keep it. But considering the costs it brings it is so not worth having it for me so when that time comes, it will get an owner outside of our family. A real shame since this place has been in our family for generations. But seeing where it has all come to itīs simply not worth it. I have come to hate being there just because of them and I cannot get rid of that feeling unless we get something far enough away from them.
Biggest issue is that our cottage is too close to where they operate. I find myself pulling away more and more in vain attempts to get some peace, but I will never get it.

Sorry. Just needed to get that off me mellow.gif
Acadian
Aww, sorry to hear that, mirocu. kvright.gif

To be brutally honest I have seen this coming, although it has been quite far away so I havenīt payed much attention to it. But now itīs all too clear. Not that an owner shift is right in our faces for another ten years at least. But I do know I will not inherit it.

Wow, just caught up with the last twenty pages of the old coffee shop. How lovely it is to find out what all the members have been up to recently.

I am still in shock about mALX and her health problems (my Dad had a stroke in May 2000 and never really walked again, lost his left side and unfortunately it was many hours before they discovered him and got him to the hospital), then to discover the shut down of the mALX's internet and financial pain (oh man, I cannot believe how hard that would be for her, mALX lived and breathed logging on each day...), then her father (wolf lays his head on his paws and moans...).

So please accept my love mALX. Hug_emoticon.gif smile.gif

And what is this about an impostor?? Lucky I didn't find about this at the time. My kitty with the red hair means the world to me. An area flame spell would have sorted it out, Maxical style.

Next I find out about Haute and the car accident. Horrible damage to the front end and she was so lucky there.
We spend years dealing with horse related injuries and death and think that by moving onto vehicles that we are safer. Well we are, of course, but the danger is still there. My love to you HER and so happy you were not injured. Hug_emoticon.gif smile.gif

And a certain new year proposal to a lucky lady in front of others. Ha! There is no way I would have the courage to do that. Just when you think you know the other half you find out that you really don't. laugh.gif

Thanks old friend. Yes, I am still playing Beth games, I cannot ever really stop, must be some sort of addiction there. Playing Fallout 3 at the moment and are at around 255 hours on the latest character. I plan to stop at 300 and then build a Dunmer for Oblivion. You will see me over at Beth forums when we get there.

I guess what drove me back was that every time I play Point Lookout I think about mALX saying years ago that she fully explored all the underwater areas down there, and for some reason that conversation has always stayed inside. When I play that dlc I think of her. Then I started thinking, 'What is going on with the old team?'

So here I am.

Thanks Destri. I hear some rumors that you are writing again. Well, sort of. biggrin.gif My first role here is to catch up on your epic adventure. You know how much I love it.

Thanks mALX. My thoughts are with you.

To all- I am certainly glad to be back. Unfortunately I have been in a dark place over the last few years. Nothing like the sort of things that you guys and girls have been going through, more just mental stuff, clouded thoughts, over-active imagination. I was in no position to be able to read or write anybody's story. Things are much better now and as Morrison said- 'Words got me the wound and will get me well.'

You are damn right about that. Very few people in this world will call a spade a spade. Most just choose to sit on the sidelines and say nothing, and then when you call them out, they get upset about it. That is what I appreciate about Chorrol, people will pick you up when you are down, but they will also put a foot up your backside when you need it.

I notice you have a story with the title- Mystery, Signs and Portents. Man that is a hook line right there! I must have a wander over there soon.

Thanks Grits!! Much appreciated. The cave analogy is spot on!! And nice pic. Melbourne has summer right now but I can still adore the snow.

I was a lot more tenacious then, I guess. I got to the sub in this game, and to the boat for the soil samples quest - but both times I was being attacked the whole way, and even unarmed doesn't work while swimming. Barely survived it !!!
