mALX: Thanks wink.gif We looked at a few examples of previous tests yesterday, and I've just grown more confident. The ones that got the highest grade had several really easy spelling errors and didn't sound particularly interesting. And I laughed when I looked at the tests that only passed, that english was lousy! If the criteria are that low, I'm confident at least half my school will get the highest grade.

I've now completed one of my assignments, and another has been postponed, meaning I don't have as much work as I thought(this week at the very least).

I never thought I'd say this, like ever, but I had a physical education lesson today in which I actually learnt something that I can make use of, and we had a substitute teacher! He taught us how to run properly, and it was great. I was able to run much more than I usually can. That also means that I'm really tired in my legs, and I'm gonna run about 5.3 km tonight, but it's good in the long run, right?

urienashtram: Ouch, that doesn't sound good at all. I hope it doesn't get worse for you.
Olen
urienashtram: being 15 sucked. Things get dramatically better from there trust me. I don't know about the school system over there but if it's like the one I went to you could try working hard and leaving as soon as you have what you need (I left at 16 with a uni place which I deferred). The real world is a lot better, less people trying to be the biggest fish in a small pond, and more scope for laughing at the ones who do try.

Saquin - reading what you write here I'm sure you're English test will go fine.
Grits
Yikes, ureniashtram, that sounds bad. I’m glad your studies are going well, or at least fine. How long does it take a rib to heal, a month? That really stinks!

saqin, good job with the running!

Olen- True dat, true dat. The system here is very strict. In order to get to High School, you must meet a certain criteria with your grades. I'm vouching for the International H.Schools, but I haven't got the info yet. I hope they accept mathematical ditz!

Grits- Being ganged up always ends in that way. I'm just thankful I didn't puncture a lung, because that would be so .. not so good.

As it turns out. I am still alive as well...

@ Grits...Welcome back from Arrakis! biggrin.gif Glad your trip went well.

@ mALX...I am also dying to see Tangled. It looks hilarious. I am actually a fan of animated film. The Shrek movies, Toy Story movies, and The Incredibles...all great.

I mainly wanted to stop in and say that The Talendor Chronicles are not dead...just on hold against their will. kvright.gif

The mainstay of our company's work is property preservation on foreclosed homes. April 1st started HUD's grass cut season. Last year, we were cutting the grass at a very easy to handle 16 properties every two weeks. This year, they gave us 47 properties! And they are spread out all over the map! While the pen may be mightier than the sword, the lawn mower is mightier than the pen for now. At least until we can hire and train some help.

To all of you that have followed Talendor, please be patient. He will be seeking his answers again as soon as possible. For those that haven't, now is a good time to catch up...
Acadian
Ureniastram - sorry about the troubles. Good luck and get better. smile.gif

Grits - Welcome back from your sandy sojourn!

Rick - Can't you just drive by the properties with your laptop on, open the command console and enter the command 'TG' to get rid of that pesky grass? Seriously, I hope you guys can get some more help to balance the large number of properties. That's a lot of grass!

Registration woes!

The classes I want to sign up for in my college are full to bursting... and I couldn't do a thing about it! My registration time was listed as slightly after registration started, so essentially the classes filled up before I even had a chance to get myself in.

Fury!!!
haute ecole rider
ureni - I hated high school. While I was lucky enough to avoid the dire pitfalls you are obviously encountering, it still wasn't fun for me. Being the bookworm (this was in the pre-geek days) didn't help me much either. And I can vouch for the pain of a broken rib. Mine happened when my five-week old colt kicked me in the chest. Worst. Pain. Evah. In my experience, that is. I hear broken pelvis is worse, but no thanks. The rib was bad enough. It took me eight weeks before I could lay on that side to sleep. Sleeping was hell - I normally sleep on my side and change sides a couple times a night. Couldn't even do that!

Hang in there kiddo. To twist a well-known proverb, all bad things come to an end. It's up to you to survive. And that's what we all want for you here. cool.gif

saquin - I have no doubt you'll pass the English test at the top of your class! biggrin.gif

Rick - yikes! 47 properties?? And to think I thought my parents' half acre was a *itch to mow! With a push mower. Uphill 90% of the time! Even on flat ground with a riding mower, 47 properties is just too much for me. My aversion to mowing is part of the reason why I want to retire to Northern New Mexico. I'll be happy if I never see another square of sod again. tongue.gif

And welcome back to Minque! Of course, your kitties are always an excuse, but that doesn't mean all of us are going to accept that! (And that's coming from someone who's as crazy about her cats as you are!) wink.gif

TK: I remember freshman registration too well! I wanted the Shakespearean Comedy class for my English requirement, and got stuck with Poetry of Walt Whitman instead. However, in hindsight, it wasn't that bad a deal - I was actually surprised by how much I liked WW. I just registered too, myself. Yup, I'm heading back to school for an MBA to follow my DVM. Am I an overachiever? I don't know. Do I get bored easily? Yup. Do I like business? More and more with each passing year.

BARELY alive. Turns out when Japanese delinquents turn into Junior High Seniors they get to act like some mafioso or yakuza-to-be. I have foretold and that has come to pass. I am currently nursing a wounded pride, a broken rib and a left blackeye.

And to put cherry on the top of the ice-cream, just not too long ago me and my bike have crashed against another bike-rider. Luckily none was hurt, no property was damaged (I hope), we exhanged some sumimasens and went our merry, separate ways.

Anyway, my studies are going fine (if anyone cares, that is) and the teacher's not one of them Genkotsus. Still, though, the road ahead of me is still a very thorny one. Five aptitude tests lie in ambush and that's not counting the semesters'.

mALX- Train ... teenager? Dear Resident Kitty, those two words NEVER add up. No matter how much distance you take him away from his beloved console or pc, no matter how much you scold him, a teenager is a teenager. Just kidding, of course. One way to bully have your will enforced on him is to ACTUALLY threaten him about destroying 'repairing' his beloved console or pc.

GAAAAH !!! That is a bad week !! I hope you are okay now !!! sad.gif

I'm glad your studies are going great - don't worry about the aptitude tests, they are fun and there is no way to fail them. They just tell you the type of career you will be best suited to work in.

Me discipline a teenager? ROFL !!! Er ... no, lol.

Congrats on Acing the tests, I knew you would do great !!!

WOO HOO !! Tangled does look hilarious, I can't wait to see it as well. I saw the first Toy Story and Shrek movies REPEATEDLY along with Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, All Dogs Go To Heaven, The Pagemaster, etc., etc. (bought them all for my son and supervised him as he watched them ... over, and over, and over again).

Raising children can turn a parent off animated stuff after a while. I had nightmares about Steve from Blues Clues, no lie. I ended up forbidding the TelleTubbies from my presence, they gave me the creeps.

SpongeBob Squarepants - His obnoxious laugh echoed through my brain for years, (however, I must admit I did find that show hilarious). Still, I was SOOO relieved when my son decided Amanda Bynes was more to his taste than Sandy the Squirrel. I wholeheartedly supported his move into shows that featured real people. (And I liked the "Amanda Please").

He did get back into cartoons, but they were Southpark and Family Guy - I love them, lol.

Ooh chicken pox :/ I remember it well. Two weeks of nothing but chicken noodle soup and grape juice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its a wonder I never got sick of it.

The only advice I can think of is absolutely no scratching. I heard oatmeal baths help soothe the itchiness, though I never had one myself. And get lots of rest.

griff11--What do you mean by again? Have you had chicken pox before? I thought you could only get it once. Either way, that would suck. I had them when I was five, so it wasn't so bad--I've heard it's a lot worse if you get it as an adult.... I'll second Jacki's advice about the oatmeal bath. Here's something else I found, that you might try:

chickenpox herbal remedies

It's a brief article that suggests using a bath tea made of St. John’s Wort, dried burdock root, and dried licorice root--you brew it and put it in the bath... Hope that helps. smile.gif

I don't know what is causing that, it is not just that wolf but all wolves. (bandits and bears, too)

I thought it was my werewolf mod doing it because none of the werewolfs would attack her either, she was able to go live in the packs with them. But the mod is gone now (waaa) and the bandits, wolves, and bear still don't attack her. Everything else does attack though. I checked her factions, she isn't in any odd factions either. It is some kind of glitch, but I like it.
Lady Syl
I would love it if the bears and wolves didn't attack me. I hate killing them, and my beast tongue power only works once a day....Pretty cool! biggrin.gif

grif - if it's the second time you've had chickenpox it shouldn't be nearly as bad... Still if you're in Scotland I recommend irn bru, that stuff cures everything.

Grits - demanding houseguests are the worst kind. But a few seemingly innocent and massively unhelpful/sarcastic remarks can make anything bearable whistling.gif .

mALX - yay Maxical!

Not much news here. I revise. I sleep. Occasionally I read or watch some TV to break the monotony... I'm growing to dislike spring.

to answer everyones question, you usually get chicken pox once and then the immune system betters it for good.

People with weaker immune systems have a chance of catching the illness later on in life, but usually not as bad as someone of the same age who hasnt had it before.

also, thanks syl for that article, going to try that bath tea tonight.

mALX - not the worst video ive seen, especially for a first video.

My grandmother got shingles a few years back, which is apparently what they call chickenpox for the elderly. I think she was even hospitalized for it because it was so severe...

Glad you liked the article--let us know if it helps. Eventually I would imagine one or both of my kids will end up with the pox at some point, so it's something I'll remember if the time comes...
Thomas Kaira
Chicken Pox is one of those diseases that increases in intensity the older you get. It's best to catch it young, because once you do get it, you usually won't catch it again.

I've already had it, myself, so I'm pretty much safe at this point.
treydog
I had shingles- maybe a year ago? And it took a while for the visible signs to manifest, so we did not know what was happening.

Mostly, I just felt tired and awful and was running a fever- especially at night. It spiked at 102- which is pretty high for an adult. The worst was the point at which it seemed like a really good thing to just lie on the tile floor and alternately shiver and perspire.

So- anyone suffering late-onset chicken pox- or shingles... you have my sincere sympathy.
mALX
In the old days parents used to have parties when their child had chicken pox to expose all the children at once and get it out of the way - "Chicken Pox Party!! Bring your child and get it exposed!!"

Now we find out it comes back when you are adult? GAAAAH !!!
Captain Hammer
I remember my brother and I catching it when I was five and he was three. Most of the other kids in the neighborhood were subsequently exposed and infected. One of my brother's friends, however, just didn't seem to be able to catch it. It took his mother weeks of effort before he came down with the condition.

My other friend got the vaccine. He laughs hysterically about this every time somebody brings up Chicken Pox when we're both present.

Singing? Of course there's singing! Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

Those of you who think church is all gloom and doom and heavy handed organ playing ought to come listen to our organist. Normally she plays the piano at our services, but on special days (like Easter today) she plays the organ. This woman is a gift from God - she can take our old, worn out broken down organ and turn traditional hymns into jazz riffs. The same songs played in other churches on their organs are just heavy and ponderous and dull, dull, dull.

Anyway, Happy Easter to my fellow Christian friends here at Chorrol.com. And to those of my friends here who are Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, pagan, or otherwise, Happy Spring Day. Ah, but those in the Southern Hemisphere, may your fall day be crisp and delightful, as well!

A happy Easter from me as well!

A great thing about scotland is that when your rolling eggs, the hills are so big you can spend a very long time just rolling eggs.

Me and my Gf went up to the cairngorms for the day, and didnt get back till seven!
