I preordered Skyrim as well, but I won't get until about 11 or 12 o'clock today if dad comes home for lunch, even later if he doesn't. Even if I wasn't sick today I probably wouldn't be able to get it myself since I'm only sixteen and that pretty little sign on the package says 18. It's ten o'clock here now, so I don't have to wait that very long at least.

Mr. Grits has invited friends over for dinner tonight, so my new game will have to wait. There’s a good chance that Mr. Friend will want to play Skyrim while they’re here, which could incite Mrs. Friend to violence. Should be entertaining either way.
Maybe the UPS man will come early, and I’ll have time for a quick border run. Argh, the waiting!

Returned from the store, copy of Skyrim in hand and ready to... update.
Did I mention I hate day-one patches?
Anyways, it's going to be another couple of hours probably before I can actually play, so stay tuned.

I'm preparing for my first overnight play of Skyrim

I bought it at the midnight release, and played for a tiny bit but I had to work on 11-11-11 and this morning. Needless to say my dreams have all been Skyrim related.
So now at 11 pm, I've got a full coffee pot and lots of creamer

I think I'll try and pull a Wrothken and stay up until 4am and see how far I get. -squeal!-
In other 11-11-11 news, did anyone hear about the baby boy born to two Air Force vets on 11-11 at 11:11?

Enjoy your time in Skyrim friends. I am off to finish a roofing job that has kicked my butt since Wednesday. I have just a bit left, couple of pieces of decking to replace and then the rest of the roofing material. The kicker is we have wind advisories today, 20-40 mph, but I can't put it off because the rain is moving in. So as you are all fighting vituals I'll be fighting the big wind monster in Mid TN.

While so many folks have fallen victim to the Skyrim Fever (not me - no Steam on this machine sorry), I've been deep in the throes of NNWM Mania.
My Fantasy/Romance is really going. I've been averaging 2K most days, but Friday I hit the first juicy part (no slash, sorry SubRosa) and it has really taken off. I went from 20K written that night to over 35K today. Wrote two chapters Friday, two yesterday, and two more today.
Now I'm typing more typos than sense, so I'm quitting for the night. But I thought I'd pop over here and brag about my little novel tonight!
liliandra nadiar

That's an impressive chunk per day. Something I've never been able to get, despite numerous tries the best I manage is surge then dry spells. Really makes me respect (and envy) anyone who even attempts NNWM, to say nothing of the professional writer I know in another game.
As I should get caught up on OHDH tomorrow or Wends, I can only imagine what you put together for NNWM.
Good luck and good writing.

Thats a good bit done there. 15k in three days is quite the feat, and a juicy section you say... I am, of course, fascinated (especially by it being specified that this bit isn't slash...). Best of luck with it anyway, not that it sounds like you need it.
No Skyrim fever here, I'm going to wait until the second patch and then see whether the graphics are tweakable or how new a card I'll need. Otherwise this rig should be ok with it though. Does sort of beg the question why it needs so much in the way of resources given that it runs on consoles... (grrr.)

Feralikazam, sorry for the passing of your grannie. It's always tough losing a loved one, and we are all praying for you and your family at this time.
While half of you have been off playing Skyrim, and the rest of you have been continuing with your daily lives, I've had a major upheaval this weekend. After eighteen months of unemployment, I have finally been hired.
By the Apple Store, no less.
They called and offered me the job on Thursday afternoon. I signed the papers that night (heck, after advocating Apple computers here and everywhere else, what else was I supposed to do? Besides, it's one of the current benchmark companies in my MBA curriculum). Training started Friday, and it's been go go go since. I'm about halfway through - the most intense part is over. Managed to get my MBA coursework done, complete my project for this week and submitted it (due at midnight tonight), and now I'm off to see how far I can catch up with all of you.
I'm happy and excited about the job, and I am hopeful that it will lead to a great future with this company.
And I apologize to all of you for not keeping up with the fan fics this weekend.

Congrats Haute! A new job is always exciting, and so is the first pay cheque!

Things are good over this way too. My masters project took a big step forward today with a very nice synthesis of what I wanted and a phase transition displaying itself nicely... If I keep being lucky like that and the stuff crystalises I might manage to get a go on a giant xray machine somewhere which would be fairly cool as an undergrad.
And yes, liquid gases, squeezing stuff between diamonds, microscopes, lasers and xrays is rather hollywood science. They miss out the hours sitting in underground rooms being bored though. They also miss out how ad hoc everything is - I mean it's a world renowned lab and I have to export my data on floppy disks? Really?

The day’s Thanksgiving preparations are complete. The mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie are cooked, resting gently in the fridge. It’s just the Grits family at home tomorrow. Well, Mr. Grits and I might wander down to the neighbors’ later. Their kids and our kids don’t get along. Because their kids are
semipermeable buttheads.
Hey, new word on the auto-censor! Guess what it means.

Well, Thanksgiving preparations are complete here as well and I’m exhausted. After bringing a poinsettia home from the store, I added some water to it. All done. The cheerful plant however, will serve as price of admission when our wonderful neighbors next door share their bounty with us.
As one of the Acadians (not this one) does not eat turkey, or stuffing, or sweet potatoes or pumpkin pie, the tradition often falls to a turkey sandwich for one and a ham sandwich for the other.

Our alternative is sometimes a buffet at one of the casinos, but the prob there is that hundreds and hundreds of our closest friends all seem to have the same idea at the same time.

So this year is a delightfully thankful one!

I hope those who celebrate it enjoyed thanksgiving.
Over here it's 'German' Market season, given Edinburgh has a shortage of Germans and limited willingness to eat certain foods it probably doesn't match the real thing but it's still fun. Glühwein, fire punch, marsipan and crepes eaten to bad christmas tunes in the cold. The atmosphere is really good and it's a fun place to go in the evening. It is slightly worrying that you can have Christmas tunes in November though...

Everyone seems to be getting sick of Thanksgiving dinner leftovers now, even disuguised in different dishes. It is now time for the pets to enjoy the rest.
Actually, the dogs did get some ham on Thanksgiving, the cats got a taste of turkey already. But when the leftovers get dumped out they will all feast like kings.
