I noticed the earlier coffee shop threads, and other ones, had a 200 post limit, same as at Bethsoft. Why is that taken away?

Because we decided it didn't need to keep opening a new thread, same reason we don't shut down the fanfic threads at 200. It was becoming more hassle having loads of shut threads...

Yeah it's been a long time since that rule was enforced. It just isn't neccessary here.
We'd be locking posts constantly if the 200 post rule was back.

Why was that rule made in the first place
I don't know 100% but my guess is to basically make things easier to moderate when the forums were more active.

That doesn't make sense, but ok.
I may be mistaken, but I think it was a holdover from yonder days of very slow connections, where people's connections would slow down when threads got bigger, so they were capped at 200 to make sure they didn't eat up too much bandwidth.

I was at two mostly outdoor museums all day, and it snowed, rained and sleeted on us (and all of the lovely spring flowers) the whole time. What the heck!
On the way back to the car (in the very cold rain) the bells at the cathedral were ringing for a wedding. That was worth getting my feet wet to hear.
