Public service announcementHowdy everyone. I just wanted to advise you that starting today we're trying a new way to prevent spambots from signing up. Since those suckers are obviously equipped with OCR functionality, the CAPTCHA stuff where you enter the number from the image into the box doesn't work anymore. We could make the image harder to read, but then people would fail at it too

So what we're doing is to have a little bit of math on the image and new users have to type in the result. I'm not sure how well this will go, so if you see any spam stuff anywhere, please let us know ASAP.
Thanks.

Works for me (math illiterate though I am). I like the "community" feel we have here, and look forward to real new members accidentally stumbling in.... So it's a disappointment when they turn out to be robo-spammers (although the user names are usually a gave-away).
I will now return to my dormant (working 6 days a week) state and write an essay exam for my American Lit. students. If they didn't already hate me for making them read the Puritans, they definitely will after next Thursday....

And back to the point- Thank You, Stargelman for all of your efforts.

Essay exam... good times. Fortunately I never had to write such a thing for my composition students last year. And now I'm teaching (the lab portion, anyway) a basic physics/chemistry/astronomy class, so I don't need to read much student writing at all--instead of writing-averse students, I have math-averse students! (Never, when I was struggling through calculus II, did I ever think I would be helping college students with their math.)

What can you tell us about this major decon? I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I hope it isn't a really serious problem that you are going to clean up. We wouldn't want you coming out looking like a corprus beast, after all

Oh...do not worry dear Planty! You see the NPP IŽm to clean up has been shut down, one reactor since 1999, and one since 2006! itŽs gonne be used as an education-mock-up! And then itŽs a really good thing weŽre cleaning it, so the guys who will spend time there will have a good environment with low doserates. This decon-project is by far the biggest one ever performed in Sweden, weŽre going to decontaminate the reactor-pressure-vessel and all the primary systems, and a few more additional ones....at each of the two reactors at Barsebäck NPP. IŽll be there november, a good deal of december, for the decon at Barsebäck 2, then january-february next year for Barsebäck 1. We will use a chemica decontamination-method, licensed by AREVA .....a smart method which yields a minmum of secondary waste! IŽll have a team of six guys, together with a shift-leader who will cooperate with a bunch of german guys from AREVA....a winning concept, used a numeral times before....ItŽs gonna be sooooooooooo fun!

Jack: congrats on first shopping solo. I tried Oblivion on a friends computer shortly after it came out. I was not impressed. Yes, the tilesets were nice, and the landscape, but the people all looked kind of ... ugly. The phase that popped into my head as I tried to roll up my character was "balloon head". I finally ended up making my character an Orc because they're sort of supposed to be ugly. The gameplay was itself kind of ... boring? Or to easy? Mindless, yes ... It reminded me of the first Never Winter Nights, in that I could just move along without thinking at all, without having to pay attention to anything
Still, if I wait a year or so, it will be five bucks. Then, in some distant future when I can afford a new computer, I can give it another try.
Hmmm gonna check that out...yup I will...

Been a while since I've posted here, what with college and all. Lucky me has approximately 25 or so hours of lectures, labs and tutorials a week >_>
So far it's pretty good though, although to date chemistry lectures have been a fight to stay awake as it was a recap on stuff most of us have already done to bring people who didn't do chemistry prior to now up to speed.

After having no sleep last night, due to me eating myself over something and having few... minor... issues today with my family, we have had a moderately large flood here, when our radiator in the bathroom decided to start leaking [spraying lukewarm water all over the bathroom is more like it, actually]. Thanks to our quick thinking and swift intervention of city's Heating Co. mobile plumbing unit a more serious disaster was prevent. Radiators and heavy duty repairs are their area; unfortunately, we have to purchase a new bathroom radiator now and it's likely to cost 40-50 euros. At least 3 apartments below ours aren't soaked in water.

We placed second at a district academic team meet. We could have won if they had put me in the third round...

There were only three other teams. All had human calculators on them that answered almost every single question. Ugh. If only we could do complex math in our heads...
But at least we have more than one player who answered questions. At regionals, if I actually get put in we might win.
But I'm mad because I was promised I would go back in and I didn't. We also could have won if I was put back in.
The meet was yesterday. Afterwards we ate at Golden Corral.
I got plenty of sleep last night. Today was pretty average though.

Operation "Sledgehammer" is nearing it's completion, as all the papers, including official translation to English, are now in the hands of my sister's friends parents who are going to Toronto next week [Tuesday].
In the process of the operation, total amount of money spend was ~130 euros [around 160$]. But, it'll all be money well spent if my sister can use those documents for further education. If she doesn't, I'll just do what I did last time on Skype - slam the connection down [like a real phone] and leave without a goodbye.
...or not. Turns out scholarship and [living] expenses for whole year of studies would total to ~20.000 canadian dollars. "Bah" is an understatement at this point.

I'm feeling fine now though. The hospital wasn't so bad, though, except that I was really bored and couldn't sleep.

Speaking of ER, I went to the A&E the other day, luckly I managed to skip it though. What happened is I broke my left wrist when coming off my bicycle, went to the closest doctor who I knew didn't have a xray but got a referal to an xray place, which happened to have its xray machine broken, they offered to plaster it up there and come in tomorrow for xray or I could go to A&E, I decided for the later. At A&E I managed to skip going to the doctor since I had been seen by 2 already and went straight to orthopedics, by which stage my wrist had been in constant pain for quite a while with no painkillers and I had to wait a couple hours longer to go through the whole process, damn A&E.
