I was reading the RSS feed from slashdot, when I saw this sentence: "Sometimes getting a grasp on what Open Source is and how it can be leveraged is difficult."
Let's just fix that up a little bit: "Sometimes getting a grasp on what Open Source is and how it can be used is difficult."
That's better. Just a pet peeve of mine: use the correct word and don't shoehorn an additional new meaning onto an existing word. Death to CorporateSpeak. I'd send them an email about it but I'm almost certain that it would be ignored.

When I have a peeve or grievance to voice with a company or person that I think won't listen ..
I send the angry response in giant letters .... so that whoever reads the letter will at least take notice. You could try that; unless huge letters are a petpeeve of yours too.

Sorry for the huge font, I know its considered rude but that's why I do it to people who probably are going to ignore you like corporate gaming companies who've charged you for a wrong month or something like that. That was a saying, actually: "Donkey, don't drop dead yet, green grass is near!" [approx.] - we use it when we're toiling at something that crushes both body and spirit to mock ourselves *shrugs*
As for the kilos thing: there are 6-packs of 2l/2k plastic beer bottles [12 kilos], 6x2.5l [15 kilos]
and big bad Coke/Fanta/Sprite 8-packs [16 kilos, god I ****ing hate Coke]. By the end of this month I'm going to hate the very sight of beer and soft drinks.

p.s.: with one free day in 2 weeks [in theory - in real life, people there wait for a month before they get a day off] that totals to 52 work hours per week. Overtime during religious festivities is obligatory. Overtime isn't paid. Salary is equivalent to poo.

It's right under Half-Life and the Orange Box on my list of "teh awsumst gamez evr."
Wrex is my favorite character. Garrus is right under him. I think turians are cool looking. They're like birds without the feathers.
I paid for my resident hall application today. When I get my contract in the mail, I have to pay an additional 150 bucks for my dorm contract. Holy crap. But it's worth it if I'll get a dorm to myself. No way am I having a room mate. Not going to happen.
I have one of two recommendations I need. I'll write my essay tomorrow afterschool. Only 100 Oklahoman students get it,but it's worth the try.
Funny thing happened... I put in the lasagna today and thought "Hmm, my mom will probably come home with tacos." About thirty minutes after I took it out of the oven, my mom came home with Taco Bell...

I would be interested in Mass Effect the only problem is that I don't have an X-box 360. Until I do, I won't put much thought into potential games I want, my laptop isn't really of the gaming variety so PC games aren't all that gripping either.
Well, I can cross my fingers and see what X-mas will bring me I guess. Other than that, I'm quite happy that I don't have to go to classes tomorrow and I can sleep in. Sleeping in is awesome!

I hope you can get one for X-mas, MM, or maybe on you're next birthday, if not. I would nominate Mass Effect for GOTY status; the soundtrack was very well made for the game.
Liara T'Soni was my absolute favorite character in the game, with Wrex, Joker, and Anderson being close behind. Problem for me is, I don't know how to upload avatars that aren't already available for this forum.

Well, if you use Photobucket, you could upload the image you want as avatar to there.
Once you've got that bit done, go to 'my controls', then to 'edit avatar settings' There should be a bar where you can paste in an url for an online image. Copy and paste the url of your photobucket image into it and click update avatar. I think it should work, so give it a try.

I think I've finally [self-censored] lost it. And yeah, it's official, I am a wuss

I informed my boss on the work that I'd be staying with them only until the beginning of December, when monthly pay is given [since I am/was with them for 15 days only, I'll receive 50%].
I thought I was tougher, both mentally and physically; maybe I could pull all 30 days with no free Sundays too, but this is a waste of time. I want to be [as] fit [as possible] when I get to that other place where I'll get to juggle CPU's.
Funny thing is, people there commended me for my work effort. Of course, that might damn well be butt-kissing since they got to know I was somehow related to big boss's wife, but I am not so sure. Few there seem to be sincere enough. Maybe I *am* likable?... bah, blasphemy. I'll stick to my paranoia and claim it to be butt-kissing.

In other news, today is my birthday. I never entered it in my profile: there was no way I could figure out how to enter just the date and not the year. It is funny that NaNoMoWri ends on my birthday.

And while we had our share of undesired elements, it has never really gotten out of control too much. I do think the 'peace' here is in part due to the fact that while we have over 3000 members, only a very small portion of those 3000 are actual posters. Thinking about leaving the academic team because it's come more about who gets the most points rather than, you know, whether they actually know it or not. Half of it is memorizing stuff, the other half is just buzzing in before anyone else. I think the teacher should take away two points for each time someone does that. It's extremely annoying, not to mention most of the time they get it wrong. And "coincidentally" the person with the most points has also gotten the most wrong.
So, basically, it's a bunch of male cow fecal matter.

I haven't been for TESF for a very long time, but it always had trouble in size & structure. There was a lot of flaming when I was briefly there but probably not like it is now, there were mainly problems in that the regulars usually weren't that helpful because they were sick of newbie questions and sorta elitist and everyone else was newbies who had no intention of staying there long so they either posted stupid ideas or the same questions which could have been answered with a search.
In other news, yesterday I caught a stoat, Norway rat and starling (which had gone in there for the bugs) from the 60ish traps. Today I got a subsidized breakfast at a cafe, then got bought some gear and a random book to fill out. Then walked around & cleaned up some rubbish scattered around the park. I must confess to being a recovering academic team buzzer speed-freak. Of course, I was right a hell of a lot more often than I was wrong. Done right, the obscenely fast ring in demoralizes the opposition. I always enjoyed getting stuff after the moderators had two or three words out of their mouths... so unnecessary, but when you can have an opponent utterly demoralized after just the opening question, so wonderful.
I do agree that academic teams often/usually become cesspools for male nerds' unvented testosterone.

Thought I'd jump by and give a short update as well, as it's really now or never lol - time is a value I don't really have at the moment. Because of the current course I'm taking here, you have a huge pressure about picking things up immediately as we only have like one or two lessons per
subject and because of all the pratical work we do, wiring stuff up, installing different systems in business buildings, troubleshooting different equipment like amplifiers, speakers etc. you really just wanna curl in and sleep on the train home lol. And to make things worse, our current government has turned the whole school system upside down - so at the moment we're suppose to learn only practical work that will come in handy once we're out in the field you could say, but everything else, like the basic understand of what we actually do, formulas etc. - things you'd need to know if you would like to become an engineer is left out...
Along with that, they (being the government) also promised free books and laptops for some, for VG2 classes (which I'm in) this year, which was great news. But of course they screw this up too, so took about one whole semester to get them and we still haven't gotten the books for our main subjects lol.
My english exam is conquered hehe, but still got several left from now til January. Due to the whole book issue we have to look through our notes and papers we've gotten, and for those who have like been sick for a week really have problems as they can't really lean onto any books and check them.
Hopefully things will go a bit smoother when this semester is done. Whine completed
Other than I'm all well and healthy, I've picked up on kickboxing and tkd now, five trainings a week, can't say it helps my schoolwork but gets my mind of things and is of course really awesome. Also work now and than, come to an agreement with this job as a kind of sidekick - so when I got the time, need a bit of money and stuff I'll work there.
Before I reach the end of my reply, I also want to whine about the current wheather here - this friday we had great wheather with
lots of snow. Me and some friends even made a small snowman (looked like a gnome) whilst totally drunk, even had a carrot nose which I have no idea how we got lol.
Now it's just rain, with freezing tempratures during the night, making lots of ice and it's all slippery.
