I had no idea. My deepest prayers and concern goes out to her. She's been such a wonderful person and a true family to all of us. I hope it all works out well for her and she's healthy and strong when she gets back.
We should all welcome her back with an explosive greeting.

Our dear and resilient mALX is back from the hospital and doing better after the coronary events that placed her there. She has a rather long list of preventive admonishments from the doctor and her condition is rather guarded right now.
I expect she'll provide more of an update here herself when she feels up to it.

mALX' condition sounds like TIA's; or trans-ischemic attacks. Commonly referred to as mini-strokes.
An infarction can occur in any part of the body. In the brain, it's called a stroke, in the heart, a heart attack (also called MI or myocardial infarction among the medical community), anywhere else, simply an infarction.
TIA's more often than not, are symptoms of an impending stroke, usually little bits of the embolus or clot being released prior to the main one dislodging. This is not good in any sense, and the....ultimate price,...can be a mercy in comparison to the other side effects.
Hence the extremely high list of precautions. More then likely, she will be on blood thinners and a host of other meds to keep the blood pressure from going too low, or too high.
She will need to avoid stressful situations and exertion, with effort, luck and prayers she can recover once the clot has been dealt with.
You are in my prayers, mALX.

Starge, I am so very sorry to hear about your friend. My dear friend Ghastley; if I missed saying it at the time, my sincerest condolences on the loss of your Father.
For everyone who sent well wishes to me, I thank you so much for your friendship and caring. DE, you are a gem of a friend, it will devastate me when you move to Brazil!
What Blackie said is right, there is a 1/3 chance I could have a massive stroke within the next 30 days; these TIA (mini-strokes) are a forewarning that one is coming. There is much changes needed to my vascular system and very little time to secure the changes. I have to be very careful what I eat/do/breathe (husband has to smoke outside now), etc. I could use anyone's prayers that really cares, they would be greatly appreciated.

Adventures in Trey World, or Why Sleep-Deprived Dachshunds Should not be Allowed Out on Their Own.
So I have been fighting a sinus infection (probably- I don’t go the doctor unless something is bleeding, falling off, or … yeah we will just leave it at that) for the last 2 weeks. (Including, I must add, my scheduled week off for vacation). Went back to work Monday, muddling through. Finally, last night was the worst- constant need to cough, twitchy legs, etc. I ended up with only about 3 or 4 hours of sleep, and so called in comatose to work.
After seeing Mrs. Treydog off to her job, I looked at the never-ending grocery list and decided to get that chore out of the way early- so I could spend the rest of the day… umm… meditating… with my eyes closed and making a rhythmic sound that is nothing like “snoring.”
I am sick- so… go for the comfortable jeans instead of the work trousers. Do not forget to extract the billfold, so the groceries can be purchased legally. (And yes- I have gone all the way through the store and pulled up to the checkout only to realize I have no way to pay- unless they are willing to take “So- it’s kind of a funny story” as remuneration. Just not this time.) Take the spare truck key from the hook, bid adieu to the feline tribe, close the door and away.
Take care of the store business; manage to find my way home, grab the groceries and stop. Look at the spare truck key- the one whose ring prominently does NOT hold a key to the house. Walk around to the sliding door, which sometimes unlatches itself- just in case fortune has been kind this day. (What? It could happen.)
Except, Mrs. Treydog, being aware of the sliding door’s predilection, has applied duct tape to the latch. (Hey- we are from the South. All you need in your toolbox is duct tape and WD-40). Look in at the cats, who give that disinterested look that says:
“Sorry, bud. We don’t have opposable thumbs. Now tell us again- the bit about the ‘more advanced species’?”
At this point (about 9:30 in the morning), I could just go sit in the truck and eat albacore tuna on potato bread, while drinking the juice I bought. Other issues could be resolved with trips to the local McDonald’s… The tuna is for the aforementioned, stubbornly-refusing-to-admit-they-know-how-to-work-a-doorknob cats; the bread is for the Mrs.; the juice is mine. So- yeah. That’s a possibility. I could do that until she gets home- at 6. Except- I do not have a can-opener and I don’t like tuna.
And of course I also scarpered without my cell phone, because I consider them a necessary evil, with the emphasis on "evil". And besides- who am I going to call- the cats? They are already laughing at me.
So… plan K. Drive the 30 minutes to Mrs. Treydog’s workplace, cadge her spare key, drive home, carry in the food, accept the “Oh- were you gone? What did you bring me?” greeting from the cats. Last step- do not, for any reason, leave the house again, not even to “just step outside for a minute.”
