I have been absent for some time due to computer issues, such as my previous lack of one, but more recently my absence is attributed to me moving out of good ol Oklahoma country and back into the little town of Enid.
I am happy to say that I am about finished moving into my new home out here (Still missing a real fridge but the mini and the deep freeze are working for now) and I now have a nice little Toshiba to keep my lap warm.

Woo Hoo! Welcome back greetings all around for Uleni and Arcry!
Not much to report on the Treydog front. Still working. Getting back into writing after depending on a certain half-elven princess writer to carry the story. (Which she will continue to do- thank the Nine!)
Perhaps as the days grow shorter I will be able to devote more time to more of our brilliant writers.

Thank you Acadian, and welcome back to Uleni and Arcry!
I'm not as happy any more, we just went from having maths three days a week to four days a week >_< jay... And I can't eat normally yet either because of the plastic things(retainers as they're apparently called).
But well, at least I don't have to wear them all the time. And I got a new
calculator for maths yesterday. That's fun, or it's frustrating that I'll need a calculator that advanced in the future. *frowns* I'm not quite sure yet.

"Carry the story"???? Really Trey that is just a bit much. I am simply adding a bit of color to the voice of the sweet, kind, thoughtful Athynae. And to assuage my guilt over being so aggressive about your lack of progress to the point of spell threats. But carry the story I think not, there are few that compare to the writing acumen of the wienie dog. (And having you as a mentor, and editor, certainly changes things just a bit)
Silly dog!!!

Things have been grim in Grits World, but now the funerals we were waiting for are over. My mom’s was not one of them, thankfully. She had cancer, but now they say it’s gone with no more treatment necessary.
Mr. Grits continues to astonish me. He recently took up fencing to improve his balance. He’s always looking for an edge so that he can keep smacking around the (much) younger guys he’s coaching. After the first few sessions, I asked how it was going. He thought for a minute, then he said, “The footwork is completely different.” Um, you’re hitting each other with swords. The biggest difference is the footwork? Then he explained it, and the footwork turned out to be the most interesting part.
Also it’s going to be twenty degrees cooler tomorrow. Porch season is back on! I love fall.

@Grits - I'm sorry life has been bad for you. Glad things are looking up and especially that it sounds as if your mom will be fine, though! And you can rest assured that your weather at least sounds nicer than ours *brrrrr*
Term's started here - in some sense not as much of a contrast as it was in undergrad because I was here most of the summer, in some sense more because it feels like all of a sudden the university's filled with people again! Now I have to remember things like not moving around the department in between five minutes to and five minutes past the hour because of the undergrad stampede and timing my lunch breaks to avoid the crowds. Also, I'm doing tutorials - my first ever small group tutorial, meaning your local Kaz stands in front of fifteen students and explains to them what's what and how the Euclidean algorithm works and the myriad of things wrong with their homework this week. *coughs* It's terrifying but also exciting, and seems to be going okay so far which is a relief! (Whether I can teach well or not is something of a ~question~ for me because I have a speech disorder and I've met more than a few people who think stuttering means you can never do anything that involves communicating with people, and definitely nothing that involves speaking to groups! :/ I am determined to prove these people wrong, so. In this case, I just told the students I stuttered and to please interrupt me if they don't understand something at the start of the first tutorial, we'll see how that works out.)
Sadly, all of this busy stuff - it's amazing how much work two hours of tutorial a week have produced - means my writing frequency's dropped off a bit. I hope I'll catch my feet again soon because I liked the way it was going before!

UTC is going well, with a few screw ups in front of the boss and some over-enthusiastic stomping resulting in sore heels for me and sore toes for some others.
Kaz - better you than me, I get super nervous even when talking to a group as small as 15.

Jacki Please keep us posted regarding Jahessye! I don't know where you are either but the thought of a missing child just gives me chills. I had a situation many years ago with my eldest child and although it only lasted a couple of hours AND in the end the little sprite had crawled under a dress rack in a small boutique and fell asleep, the two hours we spent searching for her were hands down some of the worst of my life!!
Good thoughts for the family, strength and courage to endure!! And a prayer that it all ends with a GOOD outcome.

Friends- due to a variety of dull and difficult circumstances in RL, I have not been as diligent a reader and commentor as I would prefer.
But- one thing that has kept me here for so long is the sense of community. And that includes participating- which I very much hope to be able to do in the near future. The talent here- the stories which are available for the LOW, LOW price of- FREE- are simply incredible.
And- if it comes down to it- I will simply blame my distraction over the last months on the kitties. Fortunately, they don't read and will never know.

So when the were-kitty, I mean Rico, decides to use you as a scratching post you will simply write it off as coincidence? Princess Kitty Juniper is not to be taken lightly either my canine friend. Luckily Keaton can't be bothered with any of this, it interferes too much with nap time.

Lol, he's big all right, but is pure Catahoula. He looks like a throwback to the original Dogs of War that made the Catahoula or something. Two of the dogs in his line have grown too big for showing - he is one, and Double Ott Catahoula has the other. His full brother from the same litter is scraping the top limit for show (26").
It is the Grand Champion King Augustus line, one of the best - but you have to watch what other lines you cross with downline on him, or it will throw out these moose-sized studs.

I haven't delved into the show dog realm so am not as well versed as I could be on the specs. I do have an affinity for the larger breeds though, I'd be the one that would take the Cata that was too big to show....if I had a place for it. I currently have in residence a Pomeranian who believes to her core she is the Queen as well a shih-poo that belonged to my eldest daughter until she moved into an apartment. She was a rescue and has a few issues not the least of which is being agoraphobic, she hates going anywhere including outside, but she is the sweetest creature I have ever known.
Until I struck out on my own a couple years ago I had a huge fenced yard that allowed me the luxury of having an enormous boxer with a heart the size of a small country and thought he was the size of a chihuahua. I love the little ones but I miss the interaction with the big dogs.

I've always been a big-dog lover. I raised Rotties and Dobies for years. Three years ago (right after my last Dobie died) I baby-sat my son's Catahoula for a few weeks - and fell in love with the breed. That is when we put a deposit down on what ended up being the moose looking dog. The breeder called me and asked if I wanted this "pup." He looked like a horse, grew faster than any dog I've ever seen, and got his adult teeth at 7 months. I finally cut him off the Eukanuba trying to slow down his growth - then cut him off puppy formula the day he turned one.
The little girl beside him is 16 months, and still on the puppy food - she just reached show height and got her adult teeth in the last month.
Go figure !!!
