I found the list of old Provisioning recipes.I didn't get to try out provisioning during my time in the beta, but reading up on it it sounds like something I'd like far more than the current system. Well, aside from the inventory nightmare all those ingredients would cause.
Anyways, a neat little reference for the type of foods eaten around Tamriel, considering the food was faction-locked. On the other hand it seems like a few of those recipes had their faction mixed up. A great start either way.

That seems to pretty well describe how the Provisioning has worked since One Tamriel on the regular servers. On the PTS and doing the Master Writs - they always
seemed to give you a Writ for a recipe you weren't given in your packages (when they were supposed to have given you every recipe in them). I had to abandon one Master Provisioning Writ because I couldn't find the recipe at any vendor (and there is no access to Guild Stores on the PTS). Of all the Master Writs, the Provisioning was the most frustrating and glitchy.

"Today in Tamriel" almost didn't happen for me this Sunday; thanks to Steam. I normally stay in "Offline" mode on Steam just to keep them from constantly running their BS in the background while I'm gaming (whether I'm on their games or not) - and I also have them set to not update unless I'm online, that way I can avoid any patching until I hear if it is bug-free.
Well, I went online with Steam yesterday to do something, and while on there they updated. I let them finish, then put them back offline and went to play some ESO - and they had deleted Zenimax's launcher connection and stuck one of their own launchers on my desktop! I found the script text where they did it! So then it wanted to re-install my whole game (a full day's process) for some reason.
Well, I was terrified of losing my game if I let them continue; not just losing Misa after 2+ years of building her to veteran levels; but the million plus in gold I had stored up for a house! And they were showing none of my DLC that I had bought as owned in their update - some I've owned a year or more!
So I had no way to access my game anymore till I let them do this "Update;" they had effectively cut me from my game till I did it through them; and I had no guarantee or knowledge my game as I know it would be there when I accessed it through them.
Luckily enough, just two weeks ago I made a back-up of my game files. It was another 100 gig of used space on my PC, but well worth it after this incident!
I hid their script in a new file I named something with a derogatory reference to Steam; (didn't want to delete it just in case it had done some other or permanent damage to my game, I wanted proof to confront Steam if I lost anything).
I reblocked Steam from downloading anything more; then pulled out my back up copy of my game. So I only lost at the most two weeks of my game - quite a lot of gold lost, but at least the bulk of it was still there.
I don't see what right Steam had to delete the official launcher from Zenimax and force me to go through them; that seems to be overstepping their authority in my opinion. I bought the game through them, so they have their money; and I've been dealing directly with Zenimax since for playing and buying DLC, etc - why is Steam suddenly trying to hijack my game? They wouldn't gain anything by my DLC purchases anyway because I buy them through the Crown Store! Grrrrrrr.
Anyway, thank goodness my game was saved; I was able to undo all their damage and at a minimal loss of only gold - so WHEW !!!!
The moral of this situation is - if you have enough room on your hard drive or have an external drive you can use = back up your game files! And don't forget the settings in the Documents folders too!

Or just buy your game direct from the source, as I did.
From reading stuff on this forum and listening to my ESO buddies who have accounts purchased both ways (direct and via Steam), it seems to me that I have ducked a whole bunch of headaches this time around not going through Steam for my ESO game . . .

No, even if your friend has ESO downloaded onto their PC.
In theory you should be able to do that; but it is verified to be you and not a hijacker by your IP address. So if you log in from a different one, then they want you to verify it is you and send you a verification email. You can (of course) log into your email at your friend's house, verify it, but then they say, "Okay, we will set this IP address permanently as yours."
So then you think you can just do that again when you get back home, switch it back? No, you can't. If it puts your friend's IP address as yours; and just like XBox Live, you can only change a certain number of times (like once) in a year.
If you try to go back and forth: you might end up only being able to play at your friend's computer instead of your home.
My son's game was in the next room, and I tried to bring his up on my computer rather than go into his room to play - it gave me a huge hard time, and that was right in the next room!

Elke spends a lot of time at the crafting stations in Vulkhel Guard with frequent battle breaks when the local Dark Anchor drops. Yesterday a dark-haired Nord (probably, he was large) caught her eye. Instant crush. She was too shy to talk to him. Today when she heard the siren song of daedric activity on the hill, she charged in with one eye on the crowd looking for her guy. He was not there, but another dark-haired guy was. Still could not work up the nerve to talk to anyone, but she did whip out her lute between battles. Ended up in a dance party with a very fun Bosmer fellow. Now she plans to head up to the dolmen whenever she has a spare moment to see who might be there. Fun to see her sort of blossoming. I wouldn’t have guessed that she would be shy.

Buffy tries to squeeze closing one of the Shadowfen dolmens into her evenings (more players) to serve dual purposes. First she is 'farming' purple 'Robes of the Hist' jewelry and, secondly, dolmens are superb training for her healing skills - lots of players doing unpredictable things at a fast pace and getting injured. Often she'll linger at the same dolmen for three cycles and call it a day. In between she often plays the lute - as if trying to 'summon' open the anchor.
She actually got a 'ty for da healz' from an adorable L6 fellow that she had to burst from a sliver of life to full health several times during an anchor closing.

If you "Marry" another player, every time you play with them your XP is doubled or something. But once you marry them, you are stuck - can't marry anyone else. So if they get mad at you and refuse to play with you - you lose that XP boost.

Well, for two years now I have played every day for at least a few hours online with this friend of mine from another site. Neither of us wanted to do the "marry" thing just to get the XP; so we didn't = but if we had done it, I'd say it would have made a huge difference in how high level our characters are now - especially since they were raised up during the days of Veteran levels instead of the Champion Point System.
So it is very reasonable from a logical standpoint why people would do it; but from what I've read on the forums about those who have - kind of doesn't work in practice, because the majority that are writing about it have ceased to play with their partners of choice for whatever reason and are now seeking a way for Zenimax to give them a divorce so they can find another XP partner, lol.

Since One Tamriel I haven't been able to solo a Dolman anymore, and they have gotten almost impossible to fight with a crowd. I've been adventuring with Cirinwe recently, and having a great time. We're a fair way through Grahtwood at the moment, and very much wishing that she had a mount. Unfortunately none of the mounts in the crown store have caught her eye, so she'll have to walk for now.
I'm steering her more into healing this time around, with a resto staff back bar and plenty of healing spells. Her front bar is a two-handed sword with a good selection of Templar skills. I'm not putting any attribute points into health this time either, just magic, so her heavy armour is proving invaluable.

I really enjoy hearing how you're working with Ciri's Templar abilities!
Buffy's a healer with just enough dps to solo PvE stuff. Most of her slots are heal/buff. Her attributes are all magicka. Her armor and enchants are also primarily magicka. We've found that her robust healing abilities conveniently make for superb self-defense.
For normal ops, she wields 2 resto staves but sometimes runs a destr staff on one bar if she wants to slot elemental drain (to support magicka fighters). She hopes to eventually get necrotic orbs so she can support magicka users without a destr staff.

Feb 3 2017, 04:23 AM
Ciri's DPS has been pretty solid so far - Templar abilities are really consistent. Obviously she's at a disadvantage with her sword since it scales off her nonexistent stamina, but as long as her magic keeps doing all the damage, she'll be fine.
The main thing that I sometimes have trouble with is that Ciri has very few buffs. Haa-Rei has a full bar of buffs to use before tough fights or if he ever gets in trouble. If Ciri gets in trouble she just has to spam healing spells, which works but looks a little sloppy.
Acadian
Feb 3 2017, 04:36 AM
Buffy's primary buffs are Mutagens and Extended Ritual - both heal her over time, last a long time and (most importantly for Buffy) help others as they help her. She likes Robes of the Hist (armor/jewelry dropped in Shadowfen) because it cuts any time disabled by 20% and heals her 2K every second that she is disabled. When pushed into melee, puncturing sweep heals as it kills very nicely of course.
Her biggest risks are pretty well under control now:
1. Being disabled/stunlocked. The Robes of Hist set helps a lot here.
2. Running out of magicka. Lots of focus on a big blue bar, reducing cost and increasing regen help, as does using resto staves to help damage while recharging magicka when needed. She prefers using resto staves to help regen magicka instead of Channeled Focus because that devotes a valuable skill slot to an ability that does not directly help others and she tries to keep those to a minimum. Ciri has a notable racial advantage over Buffy when it comes to magicka.
I'd imagine that some of Ciri's 2H abilities could be pretty useful.
hazmick
Feb 3 2017, 05:01 AM
Oh indeed, magicka is not something Ciri has to worry about with her +10% max magicka and +9% magicka regen. It'll only get better once she gets to use all the champion points that Haa-Rei has collected, and gets her hands on some CP160 gear sets.
2H has some good skills, but of course they all cost stamina and do physical damage - not much use for Ciri who uses magicka and focuses on magicka damage. There is one skill that we use, which increases weapon damage by 20% for 33 seconds and heals Ciri every 2 seconds while it's active. Not a significant heal, but effective when used alongside something like mutagen.

Purely aesthetic. Cirinwe is a swordsmer who dislikes destruction magic, just as Haa-Rei is an archer. I don't use Ciri for anything like dungeons or trials, since Haa-Rei can solo a lot of stuff. When just doing story quests, you don't really need to delve too deep into things.
If I wanted to min/max and make the best class I could, then yes a lightly armoured staff/staff mage would have a higher DPS and magicka regen.

Oh, well that is very understandable! I don't know if any of my other characters will ever even quest; but expect Misa will do everything possible in the game that she is capable of achieving. I know there are some things she may not be cut out for, (like some trials, and right now
I she can't get past the 3rd level of the Maelstrom Arena, etc).
I really never expected my other characters to ever even go out, they are technically just bank mules. But before One Tamriel when meeting Buffy, Calia had to go because Buffy was in the Aldmeri. Also, the other day a group from one of my Guilds was going Telvar Stone farming in the IC; and they were all in the Aldmeri = Calia needed to go on that run too.
And Calia is not set up for combat at all, just crafting. She didn't do too badly though, thank goodness!

That all said, there are plenty of dps magsorcs and dps magplars who wield a destruction staff on one bar that uses destruction spells and dual swords on the other bar that with no weapon abilities on that bar. The reasoning (among the meta crowd) is that the top dual wield passive for swords provides a boost to ALL damage (from all sources). They carry those swords only to boost their magicka-based non-weapon abilities that are on that bar. I've no interest in doing that of course but that is why you see plenty of magicka dps players with a pair of swords - and not using them to hit anything. Go figure.

Jerric has gone the magicka route this time with destr staff and one-handed + shield. He only whips the staff out when he is in dire straits or to keep his distance against the big guys who would one-hit him. (Which often costs him a gem to remember.) He loves melee so he keeps a taunt on his front bar, with mixed results.

So far his best companion is another Templar who mostly stays at range.
He is still in leveling gear, which for now is a minimally enchanted set of Tava’s Favor plus whatever he picks up. His enchantress is not keeping up her end of the deal. (Because she gets very little time to level.) Once he levels to CP160 and gets his grown-up gear, it will be June and he will want to start over as a Warden. Good thing we love to play!

So anyway his sword doesn’t do much more than tickle but it keeps the attention on him and not his allies, and the shield helps him stay alive while fighting closer than necessary. I guess if it made perfect sense, it wouldn’t be Jerric.

QUOTE(Grits @ Feb 3 2017, 05:11 PM)

I always pictured Jerric being a bit of a Tank!

Did a tally of both gold and playtime today. Yeesh. But then I've been playing for nearly 2 years now.
Got 1.74 million gold to blow tomorrow, not counting the ~350k Motif Fund stored in the bank. (But I'm saving that for the Mazzatun style)

It made my "chores" take a LOT longer to finish than they had any right to, but I had a ton of surveys saved up and I went and claimed them all. Not a single furniture mat found. I did find a few along the way, at least. Not that it matters much at this point, since all I can craft is a Wax Potato. That's also made out of nickle?
idk
Also, my crafting monkey got 4 Master Writs right from the start. Provisioning was terrible so I abandoned it (8 psijiic ambrosia for 8 vouchers lol), but the rest were reasonable, I guess. 20(?) poisons, a purple glyph, and a purple hunding's rage shield in argonian style for like 9-12 vouchers altogether I think. Also, the character that receives the vouchers are stuck with them, so plan accordingly.
At least regular crafting writs were tweaked again. You don't get that bullcrap 2-dagger, 2-pauldron writ anymore for blacksmithing. Only one of each to match the rest.. About damn time.
I'm friggin tired. I can't believe it's past lunch time already.

So now in crafting writs we don't get asked to make 2 cuirasses, 1 greaves, and 5 daggers? It's 1 item across the board?

Monkey is referring to Rubedite Writs. (highest level writs short of Master Writs)

Yeah, I was talking about the max level rubedite writs. No point in making more than one since the skill is maxed anyways.

The best part about this update is the ability to sit down on chairs. Nice and comfy.
Haa-Rei purchased the small Argonian style home, which is the perfect size for him and Ciri - there's even a nice little garden space which I hadn't seen before.
We're hunting for furniture plans now - they seem to drop in the same containers that provisioning recipes and motifs can often be found (backpacks, urns, furniture in people's homes) and we've already found a couple. No Argonian style yet though.

Is this in Bal Foyen? If so, I love that one! It has an adorable little yard!

@hazmick - Is that anywhere near Esqoo? Say hi to Esqoo and his guar for me. :V
Today I get to delete the Emergency Skeleton Storage, since the implementation of stackable recipes and motifs means that my Shaggy Bookkeeper can do the job alone. I have 2 character slots open now! But still, I've been waiting on that feature for a while now and i'm glad we have it now.
Recently, before the update, I've been getting a lot of purple drops from random enemies but absolutely no Yokudan motifs or a spare Draugr motif while slowly grinding Eolan's undaunted skill line. At the very least the coffer given to you by the "little goat" Orc is blue now. Didn't mean squat for me today, but at least it means a better chance now. Good thing, too, that quest is really long for a solo quest.

Wow, Writ Vouchers can’t be pooled between characters? That is a stunningly bad decision. And the nail in the Master Writ coffin for me. Too bad the useful housing items are tied to this crappy system. It could be great.
It is nice to be able to sit in some chairs. The Crown Store furnished houses seem like a better deal than the unfurnished ones, if you plan to use Crowns.
I think my crew will save up gold for Sleek Creek and see what they find to furnish it in the meantime. So far Pog can make a Hanging Beet whenever someone finds 3 decorative wax to make it. But it will also take 5 nickel, 20 flour, and 2 beets to make one beet, so I doubt that he will. No one wants to look at a beet that much!
Jerric got his apartment, but everything else took so long today that the other two only got to start their quests. I haven’t checked out the furnishings merchant since he got the apartment. I heard that she has more on her shelves once you finish the quest.

I was wondering about that, if we have characters in each Alliance, can we end up with 3 free rooms? On the PTS, they had us buy the other two rooms for 3000 gold each, so I wasn't sure. If we can get three free ones, I'm doing it! I got the one in Ebonheart already, but right now it is just filling up with junk I wanted out of the Hunding place.

Yeah, him and his guar are nearby. Oddly enough, it's one of the Shadowfen houses that has a description by Esqoo. Not sure if it's a bug.

Early morning (Eastern Time) is busy in PS4 Daggerfall as folks crank out their crafting writs before going to work. Today an impromptu CraftervCrafter tournament broke out. It was hilarious. Always fun to see people having a good time and not taking themselves too seriously.

Because I have no self control, I'm getting the squad to start researching for crafts that they won't use. Because I want those Master Writs. They'll still have a much lower chance of getting them, since I'm not spending money on more motifs, but it's something.
I'm also going to go ahead and buy Strident Springs Demense. idk

Oooh, that place is huge! Another guild I'm in bought it for their Guild Hall!
You don't need to spend gold or Crowns on motifs, just dive in Dwemer and undead ruins - you will have rare motifs coming out of your ears and be having to sell them after your whole crew has read them.
The upside of that too = you will also be farming furniture plans while in there; not to mention racial style stones for the mats you will need to craft the furniture = killing three birds with one stone.

That is one of the things I've found so fascinating and fun about this game - because it is the very first MMO of any kind (I've ever played, I never even played on XBox Live) - you never know what inventive ways to have fun someone else might come up with!
The weekends in capital cities is hilarious; I've seen "horses on clotheslines rearing up" contests - I guess to see who will not fall the longest, lol.
"So who won the tournament?"
"The Crafter!"
Bwaahaa!!!

Had a successful day in Tamriel today.
Ciri finished up her business in Greenshade while Haa-Rei finished exploring the Alik'r Desert. I really want to push forward with Haa-Rei to clear Bangkorai and finish Cadwell's Silver. Not sure if our Argonian is going to bother with the Dominion stuff since Ciri is doing it, but we'll wait and see.
As for Tsarakiri, she's still on with the Thieves Guild. Progress is slow since she keeps getting distracted by locked doors and people with full pockets. Once she's done here it'll be off to the Gold Coast, then...I'm not sure. She refuses to go anywhere that isn't warm and sunny, which limits her options quite significantly.
