Tonight: a Senche Khajiit with a basket of crafting materials in his mouth zooms by as Butterfly by Smile.dk is somehow blaring along with him as if coming from nonexistent car speakers.

I should be in bed.

Now I know how Mirocu was lured to playing ESO! He thought he would find these two girls there chasing a big red butterfly!

I don't care why, just glad he is joining us there!

Agreed. I have gotten two sets of free crates - this one and the one a few months back when the Dwarven crates came out - and with all the potions (etc) that I didn't want and duplicates of hats, (etc) - still only have 17 gems.

Khajiit has spent some of his ESO+ crowns on crates and has managed to save up 113 gems (97 now after buying Brenna's crow/raven for 16 gems). The mounts are like 400 gems. Can you imagine how many crates you'd have to buy to get enough for one of those?!

Perhaps the best solution is to eliminate gems altogether and simply change it to crowns. That way you aren't forced to buy crates simply for the gems to in turn buy the cool special mounts (Khajiit really wants an undead horse!). This is counterintuitive to what ZOS is wanting though, so Khajiit realizes that this isn't going to happen. Simply improving the drop rates for the big rewards would be a great solution as well.

Did you see how many gems they are asking for that Bouyant Armiger Motif that Monkey won in his crate? WHEW !!!!

Welcome aboard, Mirocu. Hopefully I will get to meet your character sometime.

Just to be clear, I don't believe mirocu is playing ESO. The joke started when one of us got the raven effect from the crown gem store that causes a raven to land on your arm and sit there for awhile. So we started joking about mirocu making an appearance in ESO. Just want to make sure we didn't confuse anyone. smile.gif

Urgh, it looks like Brenna has caused a bit of trouble with her new feathered friend.*

*She quietly chuckles about it in her room at The Rosy Lion, while stroking the birds feathers and telling him what a good boy he is.

She's a witch. What can Khajiit say? wink.gif
monkeyemoness
You are a good boy, Mr. Brenna's Crow, I'm sorry this happened to you oh my god. Maybe I should have said something after all lol

Anyways, the ghostly Butterfly Senche was actually Jo'zira as he went along his weekly material farm. Last week it was Always by Erasure. I don't know how he got 90s music, let alone how he's able to broadcast them. But he can shapeshift onto another Khajiit niche at will so maybe those aren't the questions I should be asking.

Also I'm glad I got the BA motif because I have nowhere near enough gems to get it. I also noticed that there's only the Ashlander motif and no Morag Tong, which puzzles me because Morag Tong is the more annoying one to get imo (one half of the quests is a world boss). Either way, I'm hanging onto my gems in case something I actually want pops up. For 16 gems. lol

Khajiit had 750 crowns left and decided to spend 400 of them to get another crate. He ended up getting the Ashlander motif. This one supposes it will be useful if he ever develops Lynora Verenim beyond bank character. A good mix of basic Dunmer and Ashlander might be cool looking. Maybe.

For those who may not have gotten there yet, once you complete the main quest, Cadwell will offer you to complete the main questline for a second alliance. Here you go through all the primary quests in each zone as you work your way through another alliance – this is called Cadwell’s Silver and the final reward is the Soul Shriven motif. Then he will offer you to complete the third and final alliance’s questline – Cadwell’s Gold. The final reward for this one is that Cadwell gives you a soup pot helmet (hat collectible) just like his!

So. . . guess what Buffy just finished? Screenshot

Today Jerric’s crew welcomed a new hire, the petite Saxhleel maiden Steams-Many-Mudcrabs. Steams has a delicate head-frill, a cute raspy voice, and epic reptilian thighs. She is a destruction staff-wielding Nightblade, but she was brought on board as a non-combatant mostly to hold excess stuff until the whole crew hits the gear cap.

This became necessary earlier in the week when the previous banker abruptly armed himself and strode off in search of adventure. It may be hard to keep Steams from doing the same. She has a lot of sass and is already telling me her story. If you see me log on with someone called Stands-Around-Naked, you’ll know they needed yet another banker.

Speaking of 'big kids'. . .

I think I've said before that one of the things that really inspired Buffy was an incident in a public dungeon so very long ago. As a young bow/bow sorc, she was getting overwhelmed (and killed) by the mobs therein. Well a max CP templar asked her to group which she readily did. He then proceeded to lead her all the way through the dungeon, letting her kill what she could, keeping her health bar full, and literally exploding foes when sometimes they got too much for Buffy to handle. The kindness and awesome capability of that high level templar really inspired her to look into it. When Grits informed her that a magplar was indeed a 'glorious' playstyle, that cinched it and Buffy the magplar healer was born.

Well today, she was in a public dungeon for a Mages Guild daily and encountered a level 31 bow/bow nightblade struggling with the mobs. She healed and helped him through a couple mob swarms, then he announced to her, "I'm with you!" and promptly glued himself to her side. To which Buffy offered to back him up and follow him through whatever he needed in the dungeon. Sure enough, she fulfilled a similar role for this young archer that her templar savior of long ago had filled for her. He was most grateful as they parted. Buffy wonders if someday, he will fondly remember her kindness and be inspired to repay it to some future young character. happy.gif

Big welcome to a new Lizard Wizard, and congrats to Mira for hitting cp60!

Just yesterday I was reading a similar story from someone who played Runescape and how the kindness they received from a veteran player as a new one influenced their time spent on the game. I love it when stories like these come full circle. congrats to Buffy for becoming the Kind Veteran Player.

Today I learned that the Dunmer House motif drop is good enough for me to consider collecting a full set of each. I already bought 13 of the Telvanni one, and finished it with the motif Hates found the other day. Shooting for Hlaalu next, assuming I find out where it drops.

Today Mira walked into the Inner Sea Armature to collect the remaining dwarven contraption kills for the achievement and who did she run into? Why none other than warden Lil! Turned out she was there collecting kills too so they teamed up and wrecked Dwemer devices in the Inner Sea Armature for a while and then moved to Bthanual in Desaan for a change of scenery. In the end, Lil collected a huge number of kills towards the achievement and a skyshard, and Mira completed her objective for Dwarven Contraption Slayer and took home a new color: Dwemer Bronze!

Monkey, can I ask you = have you noticed an increase in Master Writ drops with your increase in completed motifs learned? Because Gina Bruno (spelling?) said that it was directly related to the number of completed sets of motifs learned; but two of my friends who have the most complete sets of motifs learned seem to get fewer Master Writs than some others I know who have very few learned motifs.

monkeyemoness
It's something I noticed for a long time now and I always assumed it was because motif mastery's contribution to writ drops was microscopic so that the 2-4 new motifs introduced every quarter didn't overdo the droprate.

When writs were first introduced, Eolan always got the best ones in spite of having only a few completed motif sets, as opposed to the crafting monkey, who got them rarely in spite of being at or nearing 100% motif completion.

With the recent motifs learned, though? Not at all. The crafting monkey hasn't gotten an equipment writ in a long time.

Since the patch with the Horns of the Reach, I haven't been getting hardly any Master Writ drops at all, I mean like a few weeks with almost nothing and then get one for 2 vouchers. Then yesterday my lowest character knowledge-wise gets one for 92 vouchers.

Really not sure if I should press to complete Misa's motif learning or just let it happen naturally by adding just what I need to do writs when they come, etc. I have several sets that are just 2 short of being complete, and hate to jinx my Master Writ drops by learning them, laugh.gif

I don't think anyone has any hard evidence, but a lot of of people have been experiencing a noticeable drop in master writs so people are assuming that A) Something is borked or B ) This is intentional, possibly to accommodate new motifs.

My guess? It's a legit bug. It wouldn't be the first time crafting suffered a major bug and it's neither addressed nor fixed any time soon. See: Provisioning throwing in the rank 9 writs at max level for no discernible reason--afaik it hasn't even been mentioned by a dev; both it and Alchemy writs (the latter started when poisons started being used in writs) shuffling illogically between required items.

Before they'd cycle predictably, now they both seem to jump around, with provisioning dipping into a certain recipe set (can't remember which) more than it should, and alchemy using one 2-3 times and hopping to a random one.

Let's see what things are like with the update. Last time I was on the PTS, though, I wasn't impressed.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Man Khajiit hates the Minotaur daily in Kvatch! You get smacked around and when you finally beat the boss and turn in your prize to the lady, what do you get? Random armor pieces and *maybe* some oxblood fungus. You know, for the motif you aren't getting. Lol

You nailed what I've been seeing.

Man Khajiit hates the Minotaur daily in Kvatch! You get smacked around and when you finally beat the boss and turn in your prize to the lady, what do you get? Random armor pieces and *maybe* some oxblood fungus. You know, for the motif you aren't getting. Lol

In all the times I did that Minotaur, I don't remember ever once getting a motif.

Exactly! The Order of the Hour Motif (which Mira adores) drops fairly well, but the quest you get it from has to share the daily with the stupid Minotaur one, and it gives you basically nothing! Why they can't make each available for a daily is beyond this one.

Today in Tamriel, Brenna joined the Mages Guild and met Uncle Sheo!

You also meet...ugh...Shalidor. The questline is great if you don't like him though lol

Anyways, following up on yesterday's Master Writ Droprate convo, Jo'zira has been getting a lot of equipment writs lately. Bad ones that cost more to craft than what they reward, but he's been getting them. He can't have more than like 10 completed motifs, and he also rarely got them before so I find this hilarious and ridiculous.
