I used to be freaked out by CyClones and that game isn´t scary at all. I guess it was the whole 3D thing making me feel like I was really being hunted by those aliens. Now however I´ve played Doom 3 and the torch has been passed on.

After a while the convenience and comfort of a console with a controller become much easier to deal with than playing with a keyboard/mouse in my opinion. There are obvious downsides like the inability to mod or cheat but for me, gaming is better on console. Partly because there are no compatibility issues and crashes/freezing are extremely rare.

It is also becoming more and more common to require always online or steam for PC games, which is annoying.

But if there are compatibility issues and crashes/freezing or things like the Abomb, there´s always a solution for the PC which is the main reason I still play with Lothran wink.gif

I agree 100% there. Online requirements makes me mad!! mad.gif But online activation and such for the console isn´t an impossibility either. Maybe the new Xbox or the one after that will force you to be online when playing too kvleft.gif

The new Xbox One was going to have an always online requirement but the fan reaction was so negative that they backtracked pretty quickly. Looks like for the next 5-6 years consoles will still be free of this annoying requirement in which you never really own your game.

They've backed down on pretty much everything expect you have to buy the kinect, you don't NEED it on and plugged in anymore but they don't sell a XBOX without the kinect which is stupid, because if they put out a 100 dollar less XbOne then there's not much diffrence between it and the PS4

Well, I'm glad they backed down on the other crap though. I personally do not like the idea of putting listening and viewing devices attached to the internet and leaving them running in any room of my house period, the idea that you had to keep them on just so you could clap or speak to them to turn them on makes no sense at all in anyone's house that has children/pets/a spouse/a life. They are going to talk/meow/bark, and the XBox is going to immediately try to figure out what command they just gave.

Examples:

1. Dog makes a muffled yip while scratching flea:

XBox: "Did you wish to play a game?"

Dog hears strange voice coming from bedroom - "WOOF WOOF WOOF!" Household is woken up.

2. Husband to wife:

"Come on, baby..."

XBox: "Excuse me, did you wish to play a game?"

3. Mother to household:

"Shhh. Don't make a sound, I finally got the baby to sleep..."

XBox: "IF YOU WISH TO PLAY A GAME, YOU MUST SPEAK LOUDER! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

Now you don't, after all the complaints at E3. They originally had it where it did not shut off with the XBox - one of the huge number of complaints about it was invasion of privacy - Microsoft or hackers (pervs) listening in to your house or watching your kids sleep, etc.

Yes much like their Xbox360 slim's "touch eject and power button" feature. All you've got to do is lightly touch it to turn it on rather than push it, which seems like an alright idea until you actually own one. Every time you clean it your console will have a seizure in which your Xbox will turn off and on while simultaneously opening the disc drive because you brushed over the power/eject sensor. Sure you can unplug it but it is annoying just trying to dust the thing off because if you don't unplug it then it goes nuts.

Also, hopefully any household pets are never curious about the noise it is making. My dog and cat have turned off my Xbox on me a half dozen times while I was playing, sometimes when I hadn't saved for hours. Innovative indeed.

The power button for my current gaming rig is on the top of the case, rather than the front. Thanks to this my cat has habit of turning my computer off every time she jumps on it.

Mine is too, I have covered the top of my PC with Mother's Day cards from my son to "discourage" the cat jumping on it for that very reason.

Wasn't a problem with the old Xbox 360 since it was an actual button but the slim has a touch sensor that dogs/cats can easily touch and turn it off.

I've been playing a lot of Minecraft, trying to assemble a decent looking mod loadout. Currently I'm using ExtraBiomesXL, UndergroundBiomes and Ruins, which scatters more complex above-ground dungeons(!) about the map. Now I need to find mods to add extra things to mine, make and do.

Also I'm getting the mod-making bug, but what I want to make is insanely ambitious: an interface to allow people to add blocks, items, recipes, biomes and even dimensions via XML files. First I have to learn the ins and outs of Java and the Minecraft code...

Oh - I'm also attempting Skyrim, with Dawnguard and Skyrim Redone seasonings.

Other than that I'm flat out with Second Life DJ work.

I can get immersed playing as a man. Female gamers have been doing it forever. Then again, we had no choice. The first time I could choose being a man or woman, I chose woman. It blew my mind, lol.

I prefer MaleShep because of how blank his voice acting is.

-snort-

I remember playing through as maleshep and it was a crucial moment and his voice was so MONOTONE. It irritated me!!!!

It is because he's so cool that he doesn't care about being emotional.

And here I thought it was because they hired a crap voice actor to do his lines... wink.gif

Oh the voice actor is far from crap.

I play as Male Shep because I can't get as immersed if I play a female...since ya know...I'm not a female.

Right, I've heard bad voice acting and Mass Effect doesn't have it. Two Worlds has terrible voice acting as do almost all of the Final Fantasy games.

I think Mass Effect's male voice acting is just like it is supposed to be and most males actually like his macho attitude.

Oh god...Two Worlds....so bad it's good.

Also Final Fantasy 12 tried something diffrent and hired REAL Theatre actors and actresses and the game was meh but the voice acting was astonishing.

I like Two Worlds but some of the voice actors sound like confederate soldiers and not characters in a fantasy game.

Haha...oh apparently the sequal's voice acting is worse...or was it better...one of the 2.
King Of Beasts
Both two worlds have bad voice acting, lol

I like the first one better though. Even though it's practically a copy of oblivion. I SWEAR some places are identical to those in oblivion

I have heard bad voice acting and the man playing ManShep is one of the worst groaners I have ever head. Only the guy who does Farengar's voice in Skyrim is worse. If that is how it is supposed to be, then the people at Bioware need to get their heads examined. Good voice actors don't sound that bad. They could have hired someone like Ron Perlman, Tony Todd, Keith David (or is that David Keith? One of them is actually in the ME games), Mark Hamill, Robin Atkin Downes, James Earl Jones, Patrick Stewart, Kevin Conroy, or Sean Bean. Guys with some real pipes, and talent as well, who are not going to break the bank.
