Has anyone ever played Tyranny? Gog has it on sale for half off, and I am thinking of buying it. It looks very similar to Pillars of Eternity, Baldur's Gate, and that style of isometric RPGs.

I highly recommend getting it; I've watched several lets plays on YT and what I've seen so far is interesting. They do several things in a way that is outside the box for games of its genre.
Dark Reaper
Thought I'd download TES IV: Oblivion from my Steam account and play it. I wish they fix the control support but plays fine with keyboard and moose. Man I've forgotten how pretty Oblivion was, its no Skyrim but its still nice. Thank goodness I didn't have to buy TES 3-5 but I think I got it for free on Steam when I bought the Anthology version.
RaderOfTheLostArk
Looks like I am on the final chapter of Painkiller. And holy [censored] I love this game. I've having a really fun time with it. Seeing it compared to Quake got me to eventually buy it on sale, but I wasn't sure just how much I'd enjoy it. The story isn't award-winning, but it's--perhaps somewhat surprisingly--pretty engaging. And Daniel is a badass.
RaderOfTheLostArk
Finished up Painkiller. I really enjoyed the game, but I was a bit disappointed with the length. I beat it in just over 8 hours, and I'm not some hardcore, elite gamer. I found that if I had beaten it on the hardest difficulty I would have gotten the true ending. I'll probably return to the game at some point, but I have more of my backlog to clear.

Still, it was a great time. Looks like I will be going back to Undying next.
monkeyemoness
I had someone recommend me Tyranny a while back but I ended up missing the sale. Ah well. I might give it a try regardless, and apparently there's new DLC recently? idk

Anyways, been playing Skyrim for a while now. And I mean, REALLy playing it for the first time in a long time, seeing things I haven't seen. Unpopular opinion time:

That said, I AM getting sick of Skyrim now. The game's six years old, and I've been playing it on and off since its release, the past couple of years mostly to try out some mods (everything else is replaying old characters over and over again). Been thinking of going back to Oblivion for old time's sake, but I also want to play Nehrim while I (continue to) wait for the big Enderal patch.

I also want to cut out any TES style gameplay since, again, I'm sick of it, so I might play some more Thief fan missions or some Dark Mod instead.
Decrepit
I thought I already mentioned this, but guess not. Either yesterday or the day before I entered Minecraftia long enough to perform minor modifications to the Hill Fort. None are important enough to document visually. Otherwise I've done no playing of any sort since for a week or so.
Decrepit
Shortish Minecraft session this morning. At the Hill Fort, my avatar harvested and replanted where applicable:
...all wheat patches.
...all south-side carrot patches.
...all south-side potato patches.
...the south-side melon patch.
...the south-side pumpkin patch.
...the sugarcane patch.

He checked on mushrooms, but those weren't ready for harvest.

He performed animal husbandry, breeding animals in each pen, then culling the excess for food and hides. This was his first time culling and breeding rabbits in quite some time. Much to our surprise, rabbit behavior seems to have changed since he last did so. After feeding and breeding they went ballistic, jumping so high a number of them sprang over their fence (which never happened before) and escaped into other pens or the Upper Plateau's open grounds. From then on they went ballistic any time my avatar neared them. In the end he resorted to archery to bring strays down at distance, quite tricky for those rabbits in other animals pens.

He capped our session checking the Lower Terrace sheep ranch, performing a token shearing of all four wool pens. In the process we discovered that the pen housing grey, white and black sheep was missing one light gray and one black animal. This was corrected.

Gog.com has Divinity Original Sin 2 out today for $44.

and

Steam has Dark Souls 3 on sale for $24.

I am thinking of buying one or both.
monkeyemoness
Change of plans, Psychonauts is free on the Humble Bundle. I have absolutely no reason to put off playing it anymore...well after I'm done with Skyrim anyways.
RaderOfTheLostArk
After playing Painkiller, I had the urge to go back and play some Quake yesterday and just a moment ago now, this time on hard mode. This time I am placing more emphasis on getting whatever secrets I can...and KILLING EVERYTHING.

Currently on E1M4--the Grisly Grotto. I actually found the secret slipgate this time...but there are still 2 enemies left to quash (thankfully, when you save it tells you the number of kills out of the total you have on the map you saved on). Couldn't find them after milling around for a bit, so I am giving up for the night. Next time I'll see if I can find those two miscreants and annihilate them before going through that secret slipgate.

Also played a little bit of SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell last night and tonight. It's a short game that is in my backlog and I want to knock it out. Really only trying to get through each level instead of go for as fast as I possibly can.

Sounds a bit like my experiences with Bioshock 1 and 2. Awesome games but man are they short.

Btw are you playing the original Quake, Rader?

Hell yeah. It's my third favorite FPS behind Half-Life and Unreal (the single-player one; didn't get to play UT back in the day so I unfortunately didn't get to play it at its peak). I really like Quake 2, but I also wish there was a sequel in the vein of the original.

I have the demo of Quake 2. Pretty fun, and it was such a novelty at the time when enemies could duck. Haven't seen much of it in other games after that though.

I was actually fairly impressed with the enemy AI. Kind of sad when it's done better in 1997 than a fair amount of games since then.

I just like the gameplay of the original more, and the setting (although unfortunately they didn't utilize it as well as they could have) of the first is just so unique and particularly cool. But then again, Quake 2 isn't supposed to be a direct sequel. Id just named it that because they couldn't come up with an agreeable alternative.

I do love Quake 2's soundtrack though. Way better than the original's, although they are going for two different things. Unfortunately neither game automatically has the music working though.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Just tried a game called Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. Khajiit doesn't usually like massively multiplayer shooters but this was actually pretty fun!

I've been trying out Elder Scrolls Legends. Having a lot of fun with it so far

Well we are on PC, but it doesn't require you to be high level or anything. Just make a character and join us! We can hook you up with good equipment to start with too! We have meetings first Friday of every month at 4pm CST.

Just in case no one got to it yet, I sent you an invite to the Guild (and a friend request). The Guild Hall is under my name, just right click on my name and choose "Visit Primary Residence" any time you want to go to the Guild Hall.

Also, check out the Guild Bank, if there are any recipes or motifs you need! Also, I put enough gold in the Guild Bank for every member to buy a Guild Tabard; so feel free to pull out the 2000 gold for a Tabard (the only item for sale under our Guild's "Guild Store.")

Welcome to the PC ESO! Can't wait to meet your characters!

I've quoted mALX's last post over in the Chorrol ESO Guild thread so we might move ESO guild stuff over there: http://chorrol.com/forums/index.php?showto...mp;#entry289592

Oh I got the goodies alright I won't have to worry about lockpicks and soul gems for awhile thanks biggrin.gif. As for my TESO character she's a female nord serving in the Daggerfall Covenant and I just made it above level 10....Yeah the last time I used my PC account was when TESO had subscriptions---that's how long its been. Plus it the standard vanilla version though I bought the Imperial Race pack. since I need SO much to upgrade my account on payday I'll just buy the Morrowind version at the store.
RaderOfTheLostArk
Welcome to ESO, Reaper. Hopefully I'll be able to join the next guild meeting and get to see your characters.

I bought the Gothic series a month ago, and decided I would give a look at the first one to see if I would be interested. After playing for about 40 minutes...who the hell designed the controls for this game? Am I missing something? Is there some deliberate reason the controls were designed as such? Because it is really awful and clunky to use. I want to give it a chance, but if these controls continue to feel terrible I'm probably going to write off the game.

Other than that, made some progress on Clive Barker's Undying. It's gotten more interesting and I really like the Irish theme, although combating the Howlers is a little bit frustrating. At least I know how to deal with them, but it takes a little bit to get used to.

Geez. Khajiit is getting his butt handed to him in Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. This time our team got second place, but Khajiit was the one who got killed to end the game for us and didn't carry his weight as far as kills go. This one still has 0 kills out of 3 games! It really is a fun game though! You have to think about what you are doing!

I'm attempted to update my ancient ARK: Survival Evolved installation at the moment. At 8gb, the download was too much for my patience to endure with my DSL internet limitations. U-verse is nothing to write home about, but at least I now get a solid 835-845kb/s DL speed, which puts total time at somewhat under three hours, with less than 1 1/2hr to go. Before, my theoretical max DL rate was 315kb/s, and on Steam I was lucky if I hit the 200's for any length of time. Back then my estimated total DL time fluctuated between 9hrs and 2 weeks.

It helps that with U-verse I have an eight times higher monthly data cap, 1tb as opposed to 150gb.

I wish Win10 had an easy way to temporarily disable sleep mode during the download. With Win7 I run a nice third party addon that offers this functionality. But...that addon does things that in my estimation aren't needed in Win10, so I opted not to install it. (Yes, I know I can disabling Sleep mode in SETTINGS, and might yet do so.)

Truth to tell, I'm not all that hot on playing ARK at the moment. But I paid for the thing (when it was relatively cheap) so want it functional should I decide to take the plunge again. I also want to see what the game looks like with bumped up graphics setting on my new PC. It isn't half bad on my "old" PC with most setting at Medium or a bit higher.
Decrepit
ARK was ready to play at the end of lunch. I am lucky in choosing to update when I did, as the game released a new version today. Good new, I can run ARK with graphics set to EPIC (highest setting) without breaking a sweat. Distant visuals look somewhat blurry, which I'm not a fan of. I suspect some sort of distance blur or maybe DOF is enabled, but haven't yet noticed a toggle for either of those during my admittedly brief Settings search. More good new, my old save is still playable. Bad news, much has been reset. I had to redistribute 40 levels worth of level-up points. After all this time away am not sure I made the right choices. Crafting points also have to be redone. I've not yet done so, for fear of getting it wrong. My avatar is wearing junk armor and has no weapon in his inventory. Not sure what's up with that, unless he suffered a now forgotten death during my last play session. I've almost completely forgotten the control scheme. Gonna have to research that before doing any serious play.

Aw man, did you ever play the racing game made by Rare, Diddy Kong Racing? Khajiit thought that game was so much fun (and a big improvement on the cart racing formula laid down by Mario Kart)! It had planes and hovercraft, man!

I've been playing a bit of Unreal 2: The Awakening the past few days. And after confirming my initial thoughts, your character is voiced by freaking Michael Mack! He who voiced the male Redguards in Morrowind/Oblivion and freaking Cyrus from TESA: Redguard! Man, I miss his voice in The Elder Scrolls. It made me much more excited to play.

The gameplay, however, not so much. It isn't bad but it is lacking, namely in character speed. You move soooooooooooo slowly. Accessing the console fortunately rectifies that, although you have to do it each time you access a new area or reload a save. One of the weapons at the beginning seems completely useless though. It's definitely disappointing coming from the original Unreal, but it doesn't seem like a bad game so far. I do plan to play more later.

I didn't, but I do remember a passing interest. Part of me wants to go back and play those games I saw on gaming magazines I couldn't play. Last time I did that was years ago during school summer vacation. I really should have branched out more with the games I played. Not being able to afford them helped, I guess.

Bummer. If you got 3 of your buds around it was a blast to play. Khajiit remembers one particular time, we all played Goldeneye:007 until we were bleary eyed, then took a break and played Diddy Kong Racing, lol

I decided to play some Mount and Blade the past couple nights. I had been meaning to give it another go after only playing for about an hour so a year or two ago but hadn't gotten around to it. I finally did, and put much more effort into exploring its mechanics. And it sucked me in. It's a fun sandbox to mess around in. Even won a couple tournaments and a melee fight. Hoping to play some more later this week.

Is this original M&B? I have that available as a free download off GoG. I've watched bits and pieces of a number of YouTube LPs of it and Warband and find them intriguing. Never bothered to DL M&B with my old DSL connection, and until your post forgot I have that option. With my now somewhat faster internet service it might be time to take the plunge.

Yep. Actually have it, Warband, and With Fire and Sword on Steam because they were really cheap, but grabbed it on GOG when it was free too. Playing the GOG version.

It's quite fun so far, although a couple of my biggest criticisms would be:
1) There doesn't seem to be a whole lot that specifically distinguishes kingdoms (e.g. the differences between Vaegirs and Nords), at least from what I've seen. It's fine to not have detailed lore and in a way that lends itself to the sandbox feel, but still would be nice to have something.
2) Talking to regular townspeople seems to be largely pointless, as they almost always say the exact same, useless dialogue. There are some exceptions, but not a lot. Even the non-helpful dialogue could use some differences in what they say.

But I haven't really gotten to fully explore the game yet, so we'll see how it goes. But I enjoy it so far.

I played the original 8-bit game when it came out. It did things like changing screen resolution during each scan, so the top half was monochrome high-res, while the lower half was colour, low-res. All because you had only 16k of memory to work with, including the screen buffer.

Took weeks to work up to Elite status. Only played all the way through once. I still have the game, and the BBC model B to play it on! I may even have the joystick I built to make controlling the ship a bit easier.

Do you still dock your freighter with a rotating orbital station? (Match spin rate, then ease into the dock).
