You're up against millions of Orks, it's really quite hard. They have rokkits that instakill you and stuff.

Considering what they could have done with the 40K universe, a third person shooter playing as an Ultramarine fighting Orcs is pretty much lazy.

Ugh, I comleted Fable 2 once.
Never again.
I loved Fable, but 2 put me off the series and I wouldn't touch 3 with a ten foot bargepole.
That said, there were a few things about Fable 2 I liked, but nowhere near enough to make up for that story. Starting by surviving a fall that should have killed you for no reason than being descended from a hero is pathetic. And yet it somehow manages to go downhill from there.
I'm looking forward to Fable Anniversary though

Fable 2 is alright but the third one was terrible. They went too "progressive" with it and by trying to eliminate menus, they made every single action in the game annoying and tedious.
The story was also terrible and advanced randomly, leaving you trying to figure out what to do in order to get a decent ending. Couple all of that with the obvious black and white moral options (slave labor children or take a financial hit) and what you've got is a generic button mashing excuse for an RPG with terrible controls and a clunky replacement to a menu system that makes the game difficult to enjoy even as a way to kill time.

I keep playing Simpsons (first game), Probotector (Contra) and Dr Mario almost each night. I only play the first two and a half stages in Simpsons and the first two stages in Probotector before moving on to Dr Mario. The reason for that is because those are the easiest levels and I don´t want to be challenged. I, like girls, just wanna have fun!

Well, updates you can have. But since it's a game that runs in Dosbox, I don't know if screenshots are doable. I'll have to look into it.

Revisiting Fallout 3 from the beginning. Aside from a few annoying things (no weapon mods, no multiple ammo types, and no iron sights) it is still pretty enjoyable. It has also been long enough that I don't remember everything about it so it is almost like restarting.

Yes, but a decent condition weapon does not have such extreme spread as in Fallout 3, and even perfect condition weapons do that here. If I stood two meters from a wall the bullets scattered incredibly, I´d estimate 30 centimeters in between, and that is just wrong. You´d have to have Parkinsons for that to happen at that range!

I also cannot stand the auto-aim. I refuse to play with that atrocity enabled

That is definitely
not realistic!

I can agree.
After playing FO3 again last night I'll admit that the amount of spread is overkill, especially for the assault rifle, which is modeled after a rifle that is actually quite accurate in real life.
The damage is also way off, for instance the 10mm round is quite powerful and yet it takes 3-4 shots to kill humans with it.
FO:NV has spoiled me and I'd forgotten just how unrealistic the weapon handling is in FO3.
SubRosa
Feb 27 2014, 01:03 AM
My favorite guns in FO3 tend to be the single shot rifles - Lincoln's Repeater, the Lever Action Rifle, the Hunting Rifle, Laser Rifle, etc... because of the spread with assault rifles and shotguns.

Exactly what I thought. I only played Thief: Deadly Shadows, generally considered the worst of them, but it still had the feel of being something unique, right down to the way NPCs talked.
Now it seems they've torn it all out in favour of genericism.

I rented the new Thief game. It is alright but a bit too black and white for my tastes. They make it clear that the game's villian is super evil and all of his men are corrupt degenerates. The cliches are annoying to say the least (bad guy randomly kills his men for failures 1980's bond villian style) but overall the game was a fun way to waste a few hours.

Wrecking Crew, Mario Bros, Urban Champion and Tetris. How retro can one be?

Urban Champion must be the earliest one-on-one fighting game. A bit clunky controls and not too exciting, but it´s aways fun when you manage to get your opponent into the manhole
