Fable 3 is crap. If you played and liked any of the other Fable games then you will almost definately hate Fable 3. There are only a few expressions this time around, less customization, no menus, AI actually got worse, and "stores" only have one or two items inside. There is no inventory system or menus, many spells have now been replaced with potions that can only be used inside combat, food as well. I didn't even play an hour in before I quit and vowed never to play it again, for me the game was impossible to enjoy and I honestly believe that this game represents everything thats wrong with the modern RPG.
Its been simplified to the point where I actually believe that a five year old could effectively play through it. The game plays like it was designed with a mental handicap in mind and I really, really hate it. I wouldn't exactly call the first or second Fable game deep roleplaying games but Fable 3 is about as shallow as you can get and doesn't pass for even a second class RPG. Thankfully I followed my insticts on this and only rented it.

I just got down to Dragon Age Origins, had it for a week or so but hadn't got round to actually starting it. From what I can tell it's an obsenely long game, which is fine by me though I'm less enamoured with the combat system (though choosing weapons entirely on grounds of size may not be helping).
Still it has quite a fun storyline and is sufficently dark on occasion.

It's a growing trend in modern online FPSs. You take a solid game (Halo 3, in this case) add a couple new weapons, a couple new features, pretty things up a bit and call it a new game. ODST did that, and so did Reach (and so did New Vegas, as well). If you ask me, the time is soon coming where people are going to try with getting away with re-releasing the exact same game in a different wrapper soon... wait... what's that CoD? You're already doing that? See CoD4 v. WaW, MW2 v. Black Ops. I remember a time when trying to do this got you punished by the consumers, remember the old Tomb Raider series? How stupidly easy to satisfy do people think we are? I've already jumped ship with CoD, and now I'm going to do so with Halo now that Microsoft is blatantly milking their beloved franchise.
Many major game developers have been getting lazy over the end of Decade 2000. I'm really hoping they get a nice wake up call now that we're in a fresh new decade.

I liked the second one way better than the third. I was really disappointed in the lack of expressions. I mean, its nice that your character can talk now, but I would rather be able to pick what expression I wanted.
I really felt that they were milking the touch aspect, especially the hand holding. It was appropriate in maybe two of the quests that I can think of.

Okay, I am currently torn between two titles for my next game purchase.
I have already decided it will be a driving title, but I need some help deciding. The candidates are:
- Forza Motorsport 3
- Gran Turismo 5
I already know that the strengths of Forza are that it is very forgiving, coming with a number of driving aids like showing you the ideal line through a racecourse, and also being a much better game online (minus the idiots you commonly get in popular Xbox Live titles). This is certainly the most polished of the two, with the downsides being that you can only partake in Grand Prix or Endurance style races on paved tracks and that it is not quite as refined a simulation as GT.
GT5, on the other hand, is a lot more hardcore, with a more accurate simulation, over 1000 cars to choose from, and more varied racing types than Forza (Forza only does Grand Prix style, whereas GT has rally driving and NASCAR, for example). The downsides are that GT5's graphics are wildly inconsistent to the point of being immersion breaking (only certain cars get modeled interiors, for instance, and I'm a die-hard cockpit driver), and the soundtrack (music and engine) is rubbish.
So, they both carry equal weight... which would you choose?

Also gotta give props to Red Faction: Armageddon's demo for keeping me busy destroying stuff for as long as it did. Gotta say that I'm pretty excited about it coming out soon so I can break more stuff. I played the first half of RDR but it didn't really do much for me, not sure what it was really. Slightly too much riding cross country and a plot I couldn't get into were a part of it, anyway suffice to say I got about half way and gave up.
After finishing exams I bought myself Dragon Age 2, I was a bit apprehensive after it's predessesor which was good in many ways but had massive weaknesses. I'm glad I continued, the plot is good, the characters are (mainly) good, the controls work (unlike the previous one). Only problem I'm having is that it seems to be pushing the xbox a little to hard and it stutters occasionally.

Still both made by subsidiaries of Activision. I've given up buying newly released games for this very reason - the industry uses the early buyers as unpaid beta testers then releases a patch (or several) to make the game work. Consoles have gone the same way, even if most aren't actually online.
If you just don't but the game until the second patch then it's usually ok...
Talking of not working I just finished DA2 (and very much enjoyed it, a vast improvement on the first). I got it for the 360 because I couldn't be bothered making it run on my PC and it stuttered occasionally. On a PC it's fair enough seeing as every system is different but on a console? Really?

By the merits of MW2 and the fact that this series has not changed in four years... I stand by my resolve.
CoD games aren't really even games anymore. They're interactive movies, since they are so heavily scripted. And the multiplayer is just a yearly update nowadays, too. Nothing new made it into MW2, so I don't hold my hopes high for MW3, especially after March 2010 when IW got dissolved and restructured.

I've been playing Supreme Commander and Sins of a Solar Empire.
SupCom would be better if it would take advantage of more than 1 core. I watched my CPU meters while playing and it put everything on core 1 and left all others untouched. It would also be better if it didn't cap itself on 2 GB of RAM because it needs more. I can't get any really big battles going before it crashes. Someone claimed they've fixed the crashing issue using virtual memory.
Sins of a Solar Empire is the first space RTS I've played and I really love it. The developer calls it a 4X RTS actually.
It's quite addicting. I love building a massive fleet and tossing them at some planet and watch them thrash the defenses and then nuke the planet from orbit. Capital ships are lots of fun because they have special abilities and attacks that can turn the tide of battle. This game has no issues that I have run into.

The game has brilliant graphics, on both xbox and ps3, and the game flows brilliantly! I love the nano abilities and experimenting with different tactics. My favourite is going stealth and walking up behind a group of enemies, then pulling the pin on a grenade and activating armor. BOOM!
Sadly, the multiplayer community is very small now, with half the gametypes being deserted.

Just beat Red Faction Armageddon today, sweet game if you like to use tons of weapons to just lay waste to the buildings and objects around you. It wasn't good enough that I'll buy it but it was definately worth the rental.
As for what I'm playing now I'm back on Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars. I love RTS games where you build an army and wipe out your enemies, I suck online but I really enjoy playing rounds on skirmish mode where I can customize the options. Real Racing HD for the iPad2.
Never really tried out the racing games before, though I thought they seemed interesting. IRL, I love cars, especially the ones that spin on a dime and have super-tight handling (pretty much the same way I like my horses, come to think of it). Top speed is useless if you can't take the tight corners and pull some serious G's without a tire coming off the pavement.
I'm pretty happy with this game - it's very addictive, and the controls are pretty realistic. It takes advantage of the iPad's built-in accelerator and the iPad itself is my steering wheel. The touch screen is pretty sensitive for braking and acceleration, which makes it a hair short of perfect. If I could just tilt the iPad away from me for acceleration and bring it back to me for braking, then the controls would be out-of-this-world awesome!
Graphics and gameplay are smooth and awesome. I have a whole new level of respect for that little A5 chip that sits inside this little dinkum.
And to think I bought it to write on away from the lap top. Um. Right. That reminds me . . .

The first Fable is the only one in the franchise worth playing IMO especially if you get the "lost chapters" version with a couple extra quests and such. Fable 2 is alright but I prefer the first one. Fable 3 is not worth playing and has gone so mainstream that I couldn't even stomach it. Getting rid of the menus was their number one mistake.
Picked up L.A. Noire recently from a rental place, the game is pretty slow paced but interesting. Biggest complaints are that the gameplay is constantly hijacked by cutscenes and some of the cases get monotonous and repetetive. Its fun at first but for me the novelty wore off quickly and I was left with GTA with all the things that make that franchise a good game removed. All in all the game is alright but it is waaayyyy too long and doesn't really give you much reason to play through the massive campaign.

I agree with you there. As the franchise kept going, the content of the games started dropping until we are left with Fable 3 which was enjoyable (for me) but was too short, too linear and not challenging enough (due to the fact that your character can't be killed).

For me only having three expressions available at once, having to go to the sanctuary to give gifts, swap weapons, change clothes, and so on seemed like a major step back from Fable 3 and the story didn't compel me because it was basically completely based on getting rich. I also found the amount of weapons and clothing to be lacking as well.
As an old Fable fan it broke my heart and I'm glad I didn't buy it, the first one was a classic for me even if you can't really claim that it was a deep game or that it was anything like what Molyneux actually promised.

L.A. Noire has had my attention for the past couple of weeks. I'm sure most of you know what it is but I'm going to go on and tell anyway. It is a crime thriller game where you play as the character Cole Phelps in 1947. You start off as a regular cop but as you get further into the game you get promoted. You get to solve traffic cases, homocide (the best part of the game), vice cases and arson cases. In the game there are alot of references to The Black Dahlia. The most outstanding thing about this game are the facial expressions. The characters in L.A. Noire are probably the most alive characters in any game right now. You get to interview suspects and you can choose whether to believe them or not depending on their facial expressions.
I think that it's a great game. It feels like a movie. The story takes 20+ hours to complete I'd say. Now that I have completed the game so I'll probably not play it for a while but I'm sure that I will replay it again.
