Reading carefully between the lines here, mirocu, I get the impression that you enjoyed the game and its ending. wink.gif

So that got through? I wasnīt sure I was clear enough... biggrin.gif

It really is wonderful that sometimes we can get so vested in our games, isn't it? tongue.gif

Great! Now I have to re-visit the Bioshocks! Glad you had fun 'Rocu, but please try to be a little more enthusiastic about it next time! laugh.gif

I know I can be a tad subtle sometimes... biggrin.gif
mirocu
Well, with Bioshock 2 said and done Iīve opened up yet another session of Star Wars: Rebellion. This time Iīm the Alliance. I usually play as them since I donīt want to be evil, but seeing as you do the exact same thing anyway I played as the Empire last time. If nothing else Iīm able to use the Star Destroyers and to see different cinematic ending.
SubRosa
I didn't realize Tullius had Star Destroyers? wink.gif biggrin.gif

Welcome to the side of Order! Last night I fired up Tie Fighter, and played a few of the early missions in the Dimok-Ripoblus campaign. Even after all these years, it is still a great game. Between the two of us, I am sure we can crush that pitiful band of Rebels.
mirocu
nono.gif nono.gif

Iīm with the Rebels this time, remember? laugh.gif And I am closing in on Coruscant... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Already I might add... indifferent.gif

Have you ever played Empire at War, Rosa? Itīs apparently the successor to Rebellion and Iīm told itīs pretty good.
SubRosa
You rebel scum! biggrin.gif

I never liked real time strategy games, so I didn't bother with Rebellion or Emp at War. If they were nice turn-based strategy games like X-Com or Wasteland 2, I would have been all over them.

IīVE COMPLETED BIOSHOCK 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Oh dear god, was it good!! I mean, whatever exists beyond awesomeness square, thatīs where this game is!! Last fight was ridiculous! They just kept on coming! I had Eleanor to help me but holy moly, it didnīt stop! It wasnīt until awhile I figured out I had to shoot the tanks in order to flood the area. I was so full of adrenaline so I didnīt quite get what Eleanor said to me I should do.

Brave, brave Eleanor! She helped me as much as she could, and she freed the Little Sisters from pediatrics and helped them escape Rapture. And oh friggin god, the ending...

Now, let me make one thing perfectly clear. Iīm a man. A manly man. But Bioshock 1 and 2 endings both had me burst out in tears (manly)! I donīt do that, not even when Molle died did I cry, and I loved that cat to, well, death..

I did not harvest a single Little Sister in either game, and I didnīt kill Gracie in this one. Though I did put Stanley Poole to rest. It was actually what Eleanor said that helped me decide that..

BUT OH MY GOD, IT IS DONE!! BIOSHOCK 2 IS DONE!!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

So, did you enjoy this game? Don't hold anything back, you can tell us. Was it okay? Did you like it?

@Rocu

I personally don't think it's that bad. It has a lot of good lore and an ES feel in general.

I'm usually not into MMO's but ESO isn't horrible
Kiln
Bouncing between Xcom Enemy Within and Dragon Age 3.

Xcom totally surprised me. It is an excellent turn based strategy game that I ended up loving.

Enemy Within really is a great game. It makes me wonder why there aren't more turn based strategy games available for consoles.

Have you built a Mec yet? They're great fun biggrin.gif

And I've started up a new game of Dragon Age: Origins. This time I'm gonna try playing as an honourable S&S warrior, from the human noble origin. (Aiming for the ending option only they can get)
King Of Beasts
I'm playing The Last Of Us

An excellent game, worth playing. Too bad it's ps4 exclusive
mirocu
You have a PS4 then? You like it?
King Of Beasts
I meant play station exclusive, but yeah I have a ps4 now

I got it for free! Yay!

I dunno. I think I might sell it becaus well...I prefer xbox
mirocu
Iīd choose the PS4 over One, but thatīs just me.
King Of Beasts
I mean I like my 360

Sadly, they'll stop coming out with games for it eventually kvleft.gif

The Xbox one graphics are beautiful though
mirocu
Yeah, I like the 360 too and if Iīd ever get a console newer than the NES ( biggrin.gif ) Iīd get that smile.gif

What do you think of the PS4 controller vs the 360?
King Of Beasts
The ps4 controller is actually kinda cool

It has sorta a speaker, so whenever I turn the flashlight on in the last of us, it sounds like a real flashlight being turned on
Jacki Dice
Since Alien: Isolation has a game ruining glitch ( mad.gif ) I've dusted off Skyrim. I'm actually doing quests and not just hanging out with my kids!
King Of Beasts
What's the glitch??? I have that game!!

At one point in the game (pretty late into it) you need to get inside an airlock. However, there's an invisible wall that blocks you getting into said airlock. Meanwhile, it's noisy so the alien comes after you. I've even tried throwing things at the airlock, but they bounce back!

I've read that the updates should fix it, but I'm currently all updated and still nothing. When I feel more patient, I'll see what else I can do and I'll be sure to update you too
Callidus Thorn
Got the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age: Origins today, took a stab at the Darkspawn Chronicles DLC.

It's brutal.

I used the Mecs but their inability to enter cover kind of limits usefulness with my playstyle. I beat Xcom and it was a really refreshing game. The only other turn based strategy games on consoles are the Civ games which are okay but not amazing in my opinion.

Xcom was great because of the vast number of options available in modifying your soldiers and in tackling objectives. I also think that the EXALT missions forced you to mix up your strategy a bit, which I loved.
mirocu
Darkwing Duck on the NES. Got up to the last boss (Steelbeak) but got pwnd. Thing is a couple bosses took quite a few lives from me before I got the hang on how to avoid damage so when Steelbeak was up I only had two lives left and there I got heat-seeking thingies after me. Got to continue but from the start of the level so I didnīt bother.

Have beaten it on Gameboy though smile.gif

currently playing...Destiny. I play every day just for the daily bounties and stuff. The grind is real.

Also playing Skyrim, but that's nothing new laugh.gif
Jacki Dice
I am also playing Skyrim, specifically the Dragonborn DLC. I bought it when it came out but hadn't started it until a couple days ago.

Oh my god....

I watched my husband play it so I saw stuff, but it didn't compare to how I felt actually seeing it and playing it for myself. Just little things like shein and sujamma brought back such a joy. I loved hearing the Morrowind music and seeing all the familiar ingredients and netches and my people Dark Elves all over the place.

I felt home.
Kiln
I just wish they'd update Morrowind's graphics and re-release it as an anniversary edition. (Similar to the Fable and Halo Anniversary edition.) I'd buy it again in a heartbeat for my console.

They'd need to address some of the bugs too, particularly for us consolites. Then again, there's no way they'd limit themselves to that. It'd get the full Skyrim treatment, which would ruin the game.

Seconded, though I'd really hope they overhauled the combat, as Morrowind combat system did not age well.

Until that happens, though, I'm happy to get that Skywind mod when it's released.
hazmick
A Morrowind anniversary game would be great! Updated graphics, combat, conversation. Maybe some voiced characters. happy.gif

I've finally got round to starting Grand Theft Auto 5. So far so good (about an hour in).
SubRosa
TBH, Morrowind looks really good using the graphics mods out there now. I use MGE, and I think it looks outstanding.

The real issues for me are the poor animations (which were stiff and wooden even compared to other games released at the same time), and the way the NPCs stand rooted to the same spot for the entire lives, and act like library terminals, each one spitting out 99% the same information as the next NPC. And yeah, the combat system was about as exciting as watching paint dry, especially after seeing my sword pass through the enemy's body for the third time in a row, without hitting...
Kiln
I still love MW immensely despite it's flaws. It was imperfect but I loved how unique to world was in both it's art design and alien beasts.

Definitely; I absolutely adore Vvardenfel as a setting and the writing around the game was really strong. As with Subrosa, my beef was with the combat system and the annoying, immersion-breaking system of not hitting enemies my sword has just cleaved through due to an arbitrary random number generator.

In other news, I've managed to work in the Vault Hunters from Borderlands 2 as a cameo in the next session of my Pathfinder campaign. That'll be fun.

I've just fired up Shadowrun Returns again after playing it for a bit during the summer, and it's good to get back into it again. This time I'm playing the Dragonfall expansion, as opposed to the vanilla main game.

It's based, as you might have guessed, off the Shadowrun tabletop RPG, which is a mashup of Cyberpunk and fantasy, a setting with elves, magic and dragons rubbing shoulders with hackers, corporate bigwigs and cybernetically enhanced Street Samurai. It's a tactical turn-based CRPG, in a vein reminiscent of Fallout Tactics, and in terms of raw gameplay is definitely a good game; AI is good, the weapons seem reasonably balanced and it's challenging without feeling frustrating or unfair, though it can drag a little and combat against endgame enemies can be a frustrating slog. Considering that the game is primarily focussed on being a platform for user-generated content, released with a construction set a la The Elder Scrolls, I feel a little more charitably inclined towards it even if it does somewhat feel like it was all made in aforesaid construction set.

The vanilla game is, all in all, pretty decent, though while the turn-based combat is satisfying it's structured around a fairly mediocre story, is overly linear and the endgame is more annoying than satisfying. Dragonfall, on the other hand, is a vast improvement over the vanilla game in almost every way. The characters in your team can be a recurring, well-developed cast instead of random goons you hire, the writing is much stronger and the encounters more interesting. The missions work on a 'hub and spoke' system that revolves around a district of futuristic Berlin called the Kruisbazaar, a large marketplace area populated by NPCs who provide services, information and sidequests. Dragonfall feels rather in the vein of Mass Effect 2, with its focus on your hub area and on gaining the loyalty of your squadmates, who are an engaging if somewhat archetypal bunch, with them being ex-military by-the-books soldier whose respect you must earn, a cybered-up killer with a mysterious dark past and an aging former punk-rock singer and anarchist who fills the role of Team Dad.

I haven't completed Dragonfall yet, but I'm enjoying it and if you like tactical turn-based stuff or are a big fan of cyberpunk, I'd definitely recommend giving Shadowrun returns a shot.

If they do, I hope it looks a lot better than the Fable anniversary edition. Somehow the people in Fable look worse (at least, up close).

It's worth a play, I'd say. You might want to skip Dead Man's Switch (the vanilla campaign) and just go straight for Dragonfall, as Dragonfall upgrades Dead Man's Switch from a solid B+ to an A-.

Just downloaded the Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yeti DLC. Looks quite interesting thus far. There aren't loads of outposts to capture like in the main game - instead you just have one which you can upgrade to help you defend it against the enemies that attack each night. Kind of like a horde mode base defense thing.

Update: Yetis are crazy tough to beat.

Update update: Those yetis are snow joke. The whole DLC feels more difficult than the standard game, and there's only a tiny bit of a story to hold it together. Fortunately it wasn't too expensive and you get what you pay for.
