Acadian: Most Jedi are so bland in their brown robes. They need to let the Fashion Force flow through them...

mALX: I really liked the options they gave you to customize your character in Jedi Academy. There was not a lot to choose from, but what they had looked good.

I started playing Jedi Outcast, with a little mod to change the player character (on the right)

You can actually destroy the glass computer screens in this game

I am also still playing Kotor 1

Nice. Jedi looks amazing. I'm actually tempted.

I love the graphic detail they gave to the faces; but I'm so wowed out by the Tomb Raider graphics right now that it isn't getting a fair comparison, lol.

That is awesome that you can shoot out the computer screens though! I must admit to wanting to do that in Fallout a few times!

I like the Monitor Lizard looking beast, is he friendly?

Really glad you said something here, truthfully my first thought was that it was the Red Sun of Krypton! laugh.gif

I thought I noticed this on the first shot, am sure now = the game gives great face graphics, but not as good on the clothing. But at least the faces look great!

These are great shots, I love the diversity of the games you play, you have introduced me to a bunch of new and different games I never would have thought to look at if you hadn't shown them to me on here! Really interesting to see the different games in action! My favorite of these so far is the Rome Wars one, I got wrapped up in that one!

You cannot compare a 2015 game with one from 10 years ago. That is not fair!

I remember playing KOTOR every Friday night for months on end. Awesome fun back then.

Great shots, SubRosa, and it is always fun to see what games you are playing. Has Persephone made it to Jeditopia yet?

The games look good although, after seeing modern games, the lack of. . . clutter is noticeable.

Fired up Borderlands 2 again, to test out this new patch they've released. On the one hand, it's great to see a company patching a game that's three years old. On the other hand, some of these issues have been discussed basically since release.

Still, does make it a little more insane, which of course makes it more fun.
SubRosa
Since it only about $3 thanks to Gog's current sale, I downloaded Quake 2 and played the first level. Even after all these years, it is still fun. It even allows me to play a female character, since if I set up a female character in multiplayer mode, I get the same character in singleplayer.
mirocu
Oh, man. Quake 2. I remember when that was new and everyone was like "Oh, the enemies can dodge my bullets!!" ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

I have the demo and itīs still fun to play around with. I like turning off hostility so they donīt do anything unless I shoot them first. Kinda interesting to see their idle animation smile.gif

In Minecraftia the Autarch devoted himself almost exclusively to resource gathering . . . shearing sheep, harvesting crop fields, breeding and slaughtering food animals, chopping wood, mining variety of ores and stones. He began one construction project, connect the Hill Fort to his skeleton spawner XP farm via underground passageway. He quickly decided it wasn't worth the effort, filled what little he'd created of the tunnel with cobble, and called it a day.

My Cyrodiilic decrepit avatar's recent activities are chronicled in the appropriate forum thread, as are or will be the misadventures of my Daggerfall avatar.

I found a mod that vastly improves the lighting and texture quality called Quake 2 XP. I found another here that lets you play Quake II in 1920 x 1080 widescreen, and another mod there that does the same for Return to Castle Wolfenstein (I bought that from Gog as well, for old time's sake more than anything else). The game looks amazing. I wound up doing the first 4 or 5 levels or so. smile.gif

Tonight I went from Quake II to Never Alone Arctic Collection. It is a really cute game, basically a simple side-scroller, with a lot of cultural insight into the Iņupiaq people.

You play Nuna and her arctic fox sidekick (you can switch between either, and there is a co-op mode for two players)

Both are adorable wub.gif

Have you played through the entire Quake 2, ms Rosa? If so what do you think of it?

Back in the day I played through it many times. I played some more today, and knocked out another hub of levels. It has been a lot of fun going down memory lane. I forgot about how good the music is! It really gets your heart pumping. Though I have a problem with it being too loud, and I cannot turn it down. I plan to finish the entire game, and maybe do the two expansions too, since they came with it. It has been well worth the $3.20 I paid for it!

I only really have a couple of shelves of games. I don't keep the boxes anymore, they take up too much space. I just keep the jewel cases. Of course lately almost all the games I buy are digital, so they only take room on the hard drive.

No cheating and no mod. I think I was crouching, but I don't think that counts as sneaking in Quake 2. There are a number of places in the game where the bad guys have their backs turned and you can can sneak up on them. Or jump on boxes and get up above them without them seeing.

I loved Kotor 1. It has been years since I have played it last, so it felt (mostly) fresh and new again. Of course my old discs didn't work on my new computer. But as you said, it is only about $10 from Gog.com. This time I had a lot of bugs, which were never a problem before. I think it is because I am using a lot more mods now, and that memory hack to get a 1920 x 1080 resolution.

All the times I have played it, I have done a light side Sentinel. I have tried the other classes briefly, but never got far with them. The Guardian doesn't get enough skills, and the Consular doesn't get enough feats. The Sentinel always felt like a good balance between force powers and fighting ability. Likewise, I have never been thrilled with the dark path. Usually it just seems greedy and banal.

Carth was one of my favorite characters in the game. He has a great voice actor, and an interesting story. Talking to him is a lot of fun. The same with Bastila. Those two always end up my prime companions in every game. I try others, but they are never as interesting or likeable.

There have been a lot of really good Star Wars games. As well as some not so good ones. You might try X-Wing or Tie Fighter. They are old, but very fun space fighter games. Though granted being a real pilot, the physics might make you groan.

I love the interior of the Ebon Hawk. I was never thrilled with how it looks on the outside, but the inside is great.

She isn't bleeding in that 3rd person pic from Quake 2. There are giblets from a dead baddie behind her that makes it look that way.

That is a wookie in the Saviors pic. And a Twi'lek, and a Cathar (the cat lady on the far left).

Yeah, it was a whole disappointment after the brilliant SP of Quake 2 and the brilliant MP of Quake 3.

Quake 4 was shipped out to Raven to make (instead of the guys at id) and felt like a cash in on the success of Doom 3. Of course, if the people at id made the game we would have been waiting another 10 years for the game to come out, but that is another story.

It had the worst frame rate I have played in any FPS.

In all honesty I found KotOR slightly disappointing. Then again I'd played KotOR 2 first, so there were some things that just weren't as smooth, even though the story was better. In both games I gravitated towards the Jedi Sentinel. Stealth and the Force(and, in my case, a pair of pistols and a dual-bladed lightsaber biggrin.gif )? Yes please! Though I will admit that palying as a Consular could be amusing, if only for the sheer overload of Force powers you can bring to bear.

I can't remember who I used most, I think it might have been Bastila and Canderous, but I've always had a soft spot for Madalorians. I also found HK-47 to be amusing, in both games.

I did once try a dark side run, but that ended up with me trying to force my way through the end game with Canderous and HK-47 backing me up. Needless to say, it did not go well.

And I think the Ebon Hawk might well be my favourite ship in the Star Wars universe, mostly because of its looks. And it's just so much better than the Millenium Falcon was. laugh.gif

For some reason all of my female characters have ended up being light Sentinels as well. Something about that aesthetic just appeals to me. All of my light males have been Guardians, and my two dark side males have both been Consulars (again for that whole 'Dark Lord of the Sith' feel). You should try going dark (but you know what they say, you may never go back wink.gif ) at least once just to fully upgrade HK-47 and shlep him along to hear the pure gold that he spews throughout the game. He really is hilarious.

The problem with the light Consular is that you don't get much in the way of force powers to compensate for your weakness in combat. As a dark Consular you get so many offensive force powers that you truly don't miss the lack of feats, and force lightning just becomes ridiculous at higher levels. Unfortunately there's nothing to be done about the fact that Bioware's notion of dark side is so banal (perfect description btw).

Kotor 2 could have been an absolute masterpiece if Obsidian would have been given the time they needed to properly complete the game. As it is it is a flawed swing for the fences that still works on some admirably subtle levels. In that way it seems a lot like the game equivalent of a Kubrick film. Kreia is, without question, my favorite character in the entire Star Wars universe, and Kelly Hu's voice for Visas Marr is like being submerged in a pool of warm honey…

Mmmmmmmmm, honey.

Kiln
KOTOR 2 IMO was the better game despite it's flaws. Both games are absolutely amazing and are still the best Star Wars games that exist. It also got me into playing more strategic "turn based" type games that previously were completely uninteresting to me.

The Jedi Academy games are great too despite their action oriented gameplay. The balance between laser weapons, force powers, and lightsaber play makes them worth playing.

I would encourage anyone remotely interested in this sort of game to take up the offer. Banished provided me several months of pleasure. In the end I found that, for me, it isn't a sustainable game in the sense that several Elder Scrolls titles and Minecraft are. Then again, I played the game before mods became available. That might or might not make a difference, depending. Here's episode one of Sips (Yogscast) Banished LP, my favorite of the numerous Banished LP I attempted to watch. (Warning: Sips is something of a casual cusser. Also, this being an early LP mistakes are made.)

Watching various LP episodes is what convinced me to purchase the name. Having done so, I thought I was well prepared to survive and prosper. My first stab at it, I didn't last much past the first complete winter. To be fair, I used hard mode, which provides fewer starting villagers, no barn, and no food crops for planting. My second attempted, same settings, ended up being the map I played until tiring of the game months later. I found it hard to avoid periodic death waves during which a sizable percentage of villagers died. My village survived two such by the skin of its teeth. The game still resides on my hard drive, as do my old saves.

Having linked the first episode of Sips' old Banished LP I became hooked (on the LP) and decided to watch it again. I'm up to episode 11 now. There are a number of other decent Banished LPs on YouTube, but I can't for the life of me recall which they are.

If and when you (or anyone else) do end up playing it, I'll be interested in your experiences. Just don't become discouraged if you crash and burn while learning the ropes. (The game provides several tutorials covering basic play mechanics. They are well worth taking.)

@ SubRosa - I have become addicted to this game just watching the vids about it, so if no one else wants it by (or before) the 15th, I will take it.

But if I do, I see me spending the next year glued to it and dropping away from all my social places, laugh.gif

Why wait? I seriously doubt anyone's going to say anything now that you've expressed an interest in it. biggrin.gif

Oh no, urk! I should have kept my mouth shut till I saw if anyone else wanted it. verysad.gif

I hope if anyone wants it that they will speak up, because I'll get a ton of pleasure just seeing screenshots of what someone else did with it too; so please don't hold back if you want it!

I've watched several episodes from the guy you linked; plus another tutorial that gave several tips; and found a few pictures of great set-ups that ended up with stable villages - but yeah, didn't expect to go in and knock it out of the park, lol. I figured there would be a learning and getting the feel of it. But it still looked like a lot of fun.

My son is playing Witcher 3 right now instead of buying Fallout 4; so I have a wait on playing that anyway.

But still, I haven't had a lot of time lately for play; really don't want to take from someone else who may have more time to play than I do and would enjoy it. Like I said, I get a ton of enjoyment from seeing others play; so if anyone wants that game - don't feel like you are stepping on my toes, just share your experience with it on here and I'll have a lot of fun hearing about it.

I feel bad for speaking up too soon, should have waited. verysad.gif
