I have considered caving in because I'm quite interested getting my hands on Doom 2016 but I don't know. I want to try it but not enough to bother with Steam. We'll see.

Maybe it’s time to look at seeing if you can get a console on the cheap?

WHY? THE COMPANY HANDLING THE MOBILE PORT JUST RELEASED THEIR NEWEST UPDATE AND HOOOOOO

I CAN NOW PLAY AS THE ‘UNPLAYABLE” FACTIONS; SPAIN, MACEDONIA, PONTUS ETC.

Oooh! ESO is letting us play as Necromancers now; I can't wait! I guess 2019 is "The Year of the Unplayable Factions!"

Well, Khajiit suspects we won’t be able to join their faction (and why would we want to after Molag Bal and Co. treats our characters so horribly?), but we will be able to use necromantic powers to fight fire with fire and bring Molag Bal to his knees!

At first I thought Ocarina of Time 3D's Master Quest flipping everything was pointless aside from being able to tell the version you're playing at a glance, but I found myself getting lost frequently so I guess it worked in adding more difficulty to places outside of dungeons.

Also I'm pretty sure RNG is stacked against you, since I spent like 400 rupees and several tours trying to get the Heart Piece in the Graveyard Digging Tour where it would otherwise take a full tour at most.

Reminds me of that rafting in Link's Awakening. Pretty hard to get all the stuff and I think you have to do it at least twice in order to get it all.

Eh getting the Heart Piece in the Graveyard isn't to difficult, you just need to keep digging in the soil areas till it pops up. The area closer the entrance seems to have better chances of it spawning.

In other news:

I bought Ace Combat 7 for the Xbox One! Can't wait to play this series again!!!

Yeah, it's weird cause I'd normally get it within minutes of digging, but this time it took me several visits and a full Adult wallet (that I got by the time i reached Kakariko for the first time in spite of the altered dungeons). I didn't get the Heart Piece this time until after Death Mountain.

Related to OoT MQ, I was under the impression that the Water Temple would be easier than the original. It turns out it's just (technically) shorter. It took me a while to figure out how to progress because I forgot 90% of the MQ version of the temple. It was the door of the 2nd floor of the tower being permanently unlocked that I forgot about I'm glad I have Farore's Wind for these dungeons.

When you buy most games these days you don't actually own it, you're just purchasing the license to play it... which can be revoked at any time.

I am so totally with Mirocu on this; but in order to be able to play some of the games I wanted to try; I finally broke down and got Steam and started getting games from them during their ridiculously low sales. The games don't mess up; but Steam does = A LOT. I have to constantly re-install the Steam Client and all the games because Steam keeps "losing" itself.

The only way to handle Steam without having issues is = as soon as you have everything loaded and working right; put yourself in Offline mode. You will never have any issues with Steam or your games as long as you stay in Offline mode on your Steam account. Otherwise there is always something going wrong with it.

I've never had anything go wrong with my Steam account though?

Can one after putting oneself in Offline mode then play the games without having to deal with Steam in any way as long as the game works?

------------------

I have increased my attack/defensive capabilities in Rebellion even more. Main Fleet now consists of 21 Super Star Destroyers and a total of 252 TIE Defender squadrons. At Coruscant I have increased the fleet itself with another regular Star Destroyer and the number of TIE Fighters on the planet to a whopping 300 sqaudrons!

Considering each sqaudron is made up of 12 individual fighters, all this means that the Main Fleet has 3024 fighters and Coruscant, excluding the fleet, has 3600 individual fighters.

Steam always has to be running, but setting it to offline mode prevents it from updating your games or updating itself.

When you first boot up your PC; you will get a small window that asks if you want to stay in Offline mode or go online with Steam. You click on "Stay in Offline Mode" and that is it; the only interaction you need to have with them in Offline mode.

That is it; other than that I didn't have to deal with Steam at all from 2015 until I went online in December to buy Fallout 4. Since I did that I've had nothing but trouble from it all over again.

So the other day I AGAIN re-installed Steam and all my games; the Creations Kits and Gecks = then put myself back in Offline mode again. That was a day ago; so far so good.

But the fact that I didn't have a single Steam issue all those years but was able to play all my games = yeah, it most def worked. I know they did a bunch of updates when I logged in; just hoping they haven't changed anything about how their Offline mode keeps their BS issues away.

Right! It is always there when I boot up the PC; but other than that I never had to fool with it. I bought the GOTY games years after the games were out; so all the game updates should have been installed then. So technically; the only thing I was avoiding was Steam's updates; which were excessive and always caused problems with their own setup.

Yes, Mirocu!!! If you wait for one of Steams sales to buy Skyrim; you can get it for almost nothing!

I got the GOTY Special Edition (Legendary or something) for about 10-12 US dollars a couple years ago. (New Vegas was under 3 US dollars!)

When I bought Fallout 4 at the Christmas sale it was just like 20 US Dollars for the GOTY with all the DLC.

WOO HOO!!! If you and I are on the same game again, my head will explode !!!!

I didn't disable it on my startup because it had a setting that would delay it from starting for a minute after booting or something. It used to launch before the Desktop page even opened till I changed that setting.

No, you just open up the games from either your desktop icon or right clicking on Steam in your items list and choosing the game you want from the drop down list. I stayed in Offline mode the entire time from 2015 to this past December when I bought Fallout 4; and during those years I played all my games on my Steam account (Fallout 3; New Vegas; Skyrim Legendary; etc) and even made mods with the Creation Kits and Gecks!

The only things you have to go online for is to update your game; purchase something; or view your account.

That said: I am not sure if you still have to have an internet connection working while in Offline mode; though. The reason I don't know is because we had Wifi and I was on my Laptop throughout most of those three years; and when I changed over to the PC I had it hooked to the internet the whole time.

The reason I'm not sure about that is because = when I was on my XBox 360 and put it into the Offline mode; I was able to play it with no internet connection at all (but I had the game disks then; whereas my Steam games are all "virtual" if I'm not mistaken).

I mean = there are still game files on my PC; but I don't think they downloaded the entire game in those files. The only game I'm sure I have all the files for is the regular Skyrim because I have that disk.

Oh, well I probably forgot that they screwed us that way. I know I got some of their files through the FOMM though.

At the time Skyrim came out you could use the Fallout Mod Manager to open up the Skyrim ESM's for use in modding = I opened them up to a file folder so I could sort the meshes/textures/animations/voice files/Papyrus scripts into my own personal files. So I probably have more of those files than I am supposed to have.

I noticed in trying to mod Fallout 4 that shortly after it was released Bethesda patched out the ability to use the Fallout Mod Manager to open the files up. I am sure by now that modders have figured out another way to get around that blockade or devised another BSA extractor = I hope so.

Pretty sure there's a .bsa extractor.

Though if you want to mod Skyrim, you'll want to update it before offlining Steam. Things like SKSE and certain other mods require an updated game.

Skyrim legendary edition I don't think gets updates anymore. Special edition does, with all the creation club crap. Breaking the script extender weekly.

I am pretty sure Bethesda is doing all they can to break the modding community's grip so they can move on to in-game modding only instead of providing the editors.

But yeah; I had to reload all my Steam games just two days ago when Steam somehow couldn't find its own files where THEY put them on my hard drive. That is the second time they have done that since December; and they also made it where I can no longer take screenshots with the Fallout 4 game and "Print Screen" function (the screenshots that show up in the game folder). Now I HAVE to use Steam's F12 and hunt down my screenshots in the "User" folder. (which is another thing they are in my black books for currently).

I probably still have it on my old PC; was wondering if I could transfer it to my Passport and load it up on here. (Not sure if it would work since that old PC was 32 bit and the new PC is 64 bit).

Every game I've ever played has used Print Screen for screenshots; then put it into the game folder of whatever game I was playing. Even the CK uses Print Screen.

I wouldn't mind using F12 if I wanted to; I just don't like having the choice taken from me by Steam forcing me to use their way of doing it - and really not sure why they felt the need to hide the screenshots way down in the files that way. I mean = all Steam's folders and they couldn't make a "Screenshots" folder?

Since it was working perfectly fine when I first bought Fallout 4 in December and took all those screens of Misa/Shaun/and Nate (and didn't stop working till after their update lost all their files and Steam needed to be reinstalled along with all my games reinstalled) = I am sure it is something they did.

Episode 15 of my Transport Fever Scenic Excursions series is now available online. In it, we once again deliver fuel to the city of Chesham via a route ridden as far back as episode 2 (when track-side scenery was far different), as recently as episode 9. As with other post ep10 excursions it utilizes three recently added mods for better graphics, though YouTube video compression somewhat negates these visual improvements, especially Full Screen.

In other TpF news, I spent the whole of my gaming time these past three days placing scenery along a stretch of tracks leading to the city of Hartlepool. It's slow going. I expect to be at it a LONG time. A VERY long time. Don't know if I'll cover the entire route. It's a lot of railway.
