I have decided that Skyrails are one of the most fun things in any game ever and they should be included in all games wherever possible.

Way to go, Kiln! biggrin.gif So you played it through, huh? I don´t think I want to, it looks to be more of a movie where you can interact with it at certain spots. Please correct me if I´m wrong...

Always a first for everything! laugh.gif

First and foremost it is an FPS game. It probably has the most mind blowing storyline I've ever seen in a video game EVER.

After finishing it I just sat there for a moment like, holy hell I didn't see that coming. The game's story and the ending are both amazingly good, I can't even begin to explain without ruining it with insane spoilers but trust me when I say that the story is something new and inventive that I haven't seen before.

Actually sounds like how I experienced the original Bioshock. Great story, awesome twist and an ending that almost brought me to tears tongue.gif

I'm getting ready to start a new Skyrim character. This one will be a Forsworn Breton warrior. She will start her game in Druadach Redoubt, thanks to the Live Another Life mod. I've created a Forsworn-looking Greatsword for her, using a model from an older Dragonbone weapons mod.

The idea is, a Shaman in her village will receive a vision about a place named "Helgen" and that this place involves my character in some way. She will send my character on a quest to find this place named Helgen. I will not look at the map when she leaves Druadach Redoubt and I';m not that familiar with that part of the game world, so both me and my character are likely to be lost for awhile.

She will eventually reach Helgen and find out things about herself and get entangled in events she could not possibly forsee... smile.gif

Nice, Pseron decides to pop in and give as a new Skyrim character biggrin.gif

How many thus far, mr Wyrd?

Sounds like a neat idea. I take it you are going to use the console or construction kit to make the other Forsworn friendly to your character?

Darkness Eternal
Alien vs Predator. Killing humans for honorary sport has never been more fun. Most shooters just force us to be the humans. But games as these provide a welcome change.

Alien vs Predator

That is a good game but too hard for me. I have the demo where you can only be the alien and not being able to save when you want to is a serious issue for me. I may come really far with full health but one or two mistakes later and I´m back at the beginning again! That my friends, is something I don´t tolerate! After that perfect run and cheap death all my concentration is gone and I simply can´t do the same thing again.

So back to FO3 or Oblivion it is cool.gif
Kiln
Yeah I liked the Aliens vs Predator game too. It was interesting to be able to play as all three species.

I especially liked the intro as the alien in the lab. It was lots of fun.

After giving the matter much thought (or what passes for much thought with me, anyway) I decided to let other Forsworn remain hostile to my character. The UESP, which is never wrong about anything, informs me that "Each redoubt is as an individual cell operating under the orders of a Forsworn Briarheart or matriarch. The cells in turn may receive orders from Madanach, the imprisoned King in Rags." This allows me some wiggle room to roleplay that whatever organization existed between cells has begun to disintegrate badly during Madanach's imprisonment. In his absence they are starting to be at each other's throats. They will see my character as a spy or scout in advance of a potential war party.

One thing I'm seriously thinking about doing, though, is making Hagravens non-hostile. I would like them to be the honored counselors and revered Matriarchs I have always assumed they should have been. I have always liked Hagravens. It always seemed wrong to kill them. In fact, maybe my character could make pilgrimages to each one in the game to receive guidance. That actually sounds like kind of a cool home made quest, now that I think of it. You know, maybe I'm just tired because it's 2:30 in the morning, but I'm thinking that's actually more interesting than the main quest. I just might do that.

There is definitely some support for the idea that the Forsworn Redoubts are not friendly with one another. In one of them (I forget which one), you can find a note showing that they are not one big happy family. I also agree that the leader of the cells should be Hagravens. The HRs seem to be the spiritual leaders of the Forsworn at least. It would make sense that they rule absolutely through their spells and connection to the Deadra.

I cannot say I have the same good will toward them however! Not with the way they surround themselves with mutilated animal parts, and seem to be the arch-rivals of the Spriggans. Everything about them and the Forsworn seems to be anti-nature. Which would make sense if they are indeed Daedra worshipers. Though if they are, what Daedra do they worship? We never see that in the game. I have seen people suggest Hircine (the idea being that as a god of hunting, he would be the opposite of Kyne - the goddess of wild animals.) Boeitha (I cannot spell it) seems like a likely suspect to me too, given that Daedra's love for slaughter, and the Forsworn's.

I was really very disappointed with the Witches, Hags, and Hagravens we see in Skyrim. It seems Bethesda gave them every negative stereotype about Witchcraft and Paganism, to the point of being the exact opposite of Witchcraft. In Morrowind there was a book called 2920, The Last Year of the First Era that portrayed the High Rock Witches very well:

I actually made a mod that renames Witches to Hagraven Cultists, because I do not like the association. I wonder how many people would have been happy if they had named the Witches and Hags Christians instead?

Mirocu, I have to say this. I know you love the original Bioshock. I also love the original Bioshock. It was a fantastic, thoughtful, well-written game replete with an excellent atmosphere, fun gameplay and also managed to masterfully deconstruct the entire concept of player motivation in a way that has only been followed up by Spec Ops: The Line. It is easily one of the most compelling arguments for gaming serving as a form of art and playing it was one of the best things I've ever done on a console.

Infinite takes the original Bioshock and quite triumphantly stomps on its face in just about every possible aspect. It's so, so good in every way imaginable...
mirocu
You´re making a very good argument, mr Mustard. But I´ve heard people who loved the original Deus Ex, like I do, loved the sequels, which I spit on, bash up and bury in the deepest grave in the most unholy ground I can find wink.gif

Yes, it does. Which will add a whole five minutes to the installation time, and about 10 seconds to type in your password to play it if you don't set it to switch on every time you boot up. And then it does nothing except mention the occasional achievement.

And I really have to ask, what's wrong with Human Revolution? Edit: And don't say 'boss fights' because knows and agrees that they weren't implemented as well as they could be.

Well, then it´s a no no for me no matter how good it is. I don´t buy games that forces me to use internet sites to play. And it doesn´t matter if I´m online to chat like I do here, I don´t want to be forced to use the internet when I just want to play a single player game.

Actually, I haven´t played that game and just very, very little of Invisible War. I don´t really hate the sequels, I just love the original too much. Ehhh, tricky to answer, really. You'd have a lot of fun, but I've got a feeling that the actual brilliance and depth of the ending, which is what elevates it from a really good game to an absolute coup of storytelling, may well be completely lost on you if you haven't played the first one.
Pseron Wyrd
Yeah, I was kind of afraid you'd say that smile.gif

Well, I have plenty of games to play. It's not like I need a new game or anything. I still haven't finished the new Tomb Raider. I'm playing it with a friend and, unlike myself, she actually has a life. So we're progressing slowly.

Actually, I think it's kind of interesting what we're doing. We've invented a sort of low-rent, home-made, co-op multiplayer. The two of us have two computers running at the same time. Our main gaming computers run Tomb Raider. The second computers run an instant messaging program.

We send our two Lara Crofts through the same areas at the same time, texting back and forth on our second computers as we play. It's a wonderful combination of single-player experience combined with some of the companionship of playing an MMO.

We're talking about playing other games like this. We both play Elder Scrolls games so we might start playing Oblivion and Skyrim this way too.

Fallout 3! Brings back memories. It's the only RPG where I actually had only one serious character and about four or five test ones that didn't make it even to Megaton because I changed my mind about them. I have/had multiple characters in all other RPGs that I've played but not FO3. I think this condition is called mirocu's syndrome biggrin.gif . My character Ronny completed MQ and all the DLCs except Anchorage, I lost interest in FO3 by then and returned to Oblivion. It's a shame but he got deleted when I bought a new laptop.

I did yes, but after New Vegas. It wasn't true RP really, I was using online map to discover all possible locations because I didn't know that you can see nearby locations on a compass. Which of course means that I didn't know this in FNV before either. blink.gif biggrin.gif My character Ronny was a good guy, helping almost everyone and never killed an innocent being, he was sometimes merciful to his enemies. But he didn't spare Augustus Autumn. nono.gif

I liked it a lot, in some aspects even more than FNV but overall I like FNV more.
