That is what's getting me.... the background area looks familiar, especially that steeple-looking structure in the upper left corner.

And your Redguard is standing on top of some building too. Looks like a fort. But for her to get up there, there has to be some stairs, or a ladder coming up near the floor she's standing on. And there's snow. This limits the fort to the Pale, Winterold, Haafingar. Crap.

Bingo! The ruined tower on the way up. The compass would have been a dead giveaway. It had Embershard, and the Guardian Stones on it. The structures way in the background is Helgen.

I thought of Aleswell early on but almost immediately ruled it out. It seemed to me that the Imperial City appears to be too far away for the shot to be captured at Aleswell. Then again that stretch of Red Road is one my avatar almost never travels. As such I am not overly familiar with what things ought to look like when viewed from there.

It is just north of the DC Ruins, and east of the Chryslus building. It is the back side of a strip mall. There is a big parking lot on the other side of that long concrete building in the back. Raiders hang out in the parking lot.

I think both of you are wrong and that this shot was taken right outside Paradise Falls.
